Up for auction is my 1972 Corvette Big Block 454 Convertible.  This was an eight year restoration project that was completed October 2012.  It has less than 500 miles on it since restoration.  It has been driven to local car shows.  This is a factory 454 car with the color options of white exterior and saddle tan interior.  The car displays very nice and has won several trophies at local car shows.  I have all documentation of the restoration process which includes receipts and pictures.  New wiring harnesses and vacuum hoses were installed during restoration.  Motor, transmission and rear end were rebuilt during restoration.  All paint was stripped to fiberglass.  No major repairs were required to fiberglass.  Again, have photos of restoration process.  The car drives and responds very nicely.  Only non-factory options I added was the tan convertible top and cd player/speakers.  All bushings, u-joints, etc, etc. were replace during restoration.  A black vinyl hardtop and a new Corvette car cover goes with sale of vehicle.  On a personal scale of 1-10, I would rate it at 8.  I restored this car to enjoy, not to be a trailer queen, but it can be.  Drop the top and enjoy driving, getting those thumb ups from people looking at it as you drive by.  Purchase this car and drive it home if your not scared that someone may hit it.  The list of items I did during the restoration is to long to list.  Please ask questions prior to bidding.  Call 910-262-8400 - 8:00am est - 8:00pm est - if you have questions or want make appointment to view vehicle.  Serious inquiries only.  This vehicle is listed locally, so I have the right to pull auction at any time.  Clear NC title in hand.  A non-refundable $1000 deposit is required within 48 hours end of auction.  Full pay off required prior to vehicle being released.  Local pick up only.  Shipping provided by buyer.  This vehicle is being sold as-is, no warranty and no refund.  Thanks for interest.

2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas

Wed, Oct 29 2014

Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe

Fri, Aug 14 2015

A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:
