Automobile purchased new at Bud's Chevrolet, Saint Marys, Ohio, 29 March 2012 by its first owner who drove it 1,800 miles before trading for a new Corvette. I purchased it Chevrolet Certified on 05 June 2014 in Maryland and drove it back home to El Paso, Texas. Accordingly, five months of bumper to bumper factory warranty remain, plus the remainder of 5 years or 100,000 miles of power train warranty and roadside assistance protection measured from 29 March 2012 or 4,519 miles odometer presently. I am informed that along with its Certified status, it qualifies for 4 free oil changes at any Chevrolet dealership. The Grand Sport carries wider front and rear fenders to accommodate its very wide tires. Chrome aluminum wheels are 19" rear and 18" front. With the large fender air vents forward and air scoops rearward plus distinctive air scoop in the hood frontal, the appearance is a serious step up from the standard base Corvette. The 6.2 V8 engine is among the very fastest, yet it gives 26 MPG or better at highway speeds. The six speed automatic transmission probably contributes to its fuel efficiency. I am informed the automobile is fully-optioned except for MagRide, which was not recommended unless one planned to "track the car" which I certainly didn't nor do most others. This is a gorgeous automobile that clearly elicits admiration wherever it goes. Here is an opportunity to have one of the finest, in near-new condition, for a long way down from its original price. I have the original window sticker 73,830 as well as the Chevrolet Build Sheet. This is essentially "a two collector-owner car".

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.
General Motors shaking up its marketing... again
Wed, 13 Mar 2013One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
China's rise, global restructuring wither GM's Korea division
Wed, Jan 7 2015An article in the Daily Kanban suggests the sun is setting on GM Korea, and it could already be well into dusk. GM Korea came about when General Motors, along with co-investors SAIC and Suzuki, bought Daewoo Motors from parent company Daewoo Group in 2001; it had a previous tie-up with GM, a joint venture that ended in 1992, although Daewoo cars were based on GM cars until 1996. Over the decade following the purchase, it became such an important part of operations that it was renamed GM Korea in 2011, "to reflect its heightened status in [the] global operations of GM." Just two years later, the printed rumors were that the subsidiary responsible for a fifth of Chevrolet's global production could be shutting down. The division's sales were down almost 21 percent through November of last year, counting domestic South Korean sales, exports, and CKD – Complete Knock Down – products. That makes the labor strife, already an issue for four years, even more acute, reports say the subsidiary will lose $36 million a year if it can't get the job and wage cuts it wants, and government concessions can't make up for the losses.
