2006 - Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Andersonville, Tennessee, United States
2006 Chevrolet Corvette! This car has lots of extras! Makes great power and looks great too. This car is in great condition and has low milage for its age. I am not the original owner, so some of the modifications were not done by me (see list below for specifics). Please keep in mind this is a used car and it was my daily driver so it does have normal wear and tear such as: small rock chips, minor road rash, etc. Despite these small blemishes, there are no major scrapes or dents on this car! The car has never had any mechanical issues and is serviced regularly (tire alignment, oil changes, etc). The tires are not new and I have included pictures of the tread for all four. This car sounds AMAZING and pulls hard! It made 462RWHP and 424RWTQ on the Dyno, which is about 536HP at the crank! Make sure you check out the video to hear the exhaust sound! Please see the list below for all of the mods that have been done. Modifications: Performance: -Black ZR1 style wheels -Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 Tires (Front: 245/40 R18, Rear: 285/35 R19) -Corsa Sport axle-back exhaust -SLP headers -Advanced Flow Engineering Cold air intake -Moderate cam (installed by original owner, I do not know the specs unfortunately) -SR1 Performance lowering bolts -Dyno tuned by Dynospeed Racing in memphis TN! Appearance: -Tail lights tinted -Side marker lights tinted (this was also done by the original owner with a cheap spray so it is starting to fade. This can be easily re-sprayed or professionally tinted if you want it to match the quality of the tint on the tail lights) -Carbon fiber corvette flag badges on front and rear (these are decals and can be easily removed if you wish to have the stock flag badges). -Carbon fiber brake light housing -Red painted brake calipers -Super bright LED interior lights (footwells, map lights, and truck lights) -LED license plate lights -LED reverse lights Check out the exhaust clip! Thanks for looking! This is a low milage, FAST, awesome looking Vette for a killer price! Please feel free to message me at any time with questions. Additional pictures available upon request for SERIOUS buyers!

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible
Wed, Aug 1 2018The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR. Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]
Wed, Dec 3 2014Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website.
