*Edit 4/18/14* If not sold by auction's end, this car will be sold locally!! I am selling my highly modified 1986 Z-51 Corvette Coupe. This car just recently received over $20k worth in performance upgrades. There are 91K original miles on the body and frame and only 1K Miles on the entire drivetrain and suspension. It has an freshly rebuilt Automatic transmission. My original intent was to build a dual purpose roadracing/weekend street car but due to time restrictions and finacial difficulties I am forced to sell. I am the third owner of this vehicle and have owned it for the past 14 years. This car runs, brakes, and handles incredibly well! My main focus has been on the powertrain and suspension and was preparing to start on restoring the interior and body but did not have the opportunity to finish. Someone will have the chance to own an incredible C4 with an awesome array of high performance parts! The car will need a little attention to the body and interior to make it perfect but as far as the drivetrain goes you are all set. The engine runs very strong and doesn't leak or smoke, perfect! This car is fast! To get a smoother cold idle and to squeeze more HP and MPG, I'd recommend a dyno tune, although the original chip has been modified by a mail order tuning company specifically for the combination used on this vehicle. The AC, emissions, and cruise control systems have been deleted for weight and HP purposes (Illinois does not require emissions tests for 25 yrs or older vehicles). The parking brake is also disconnected. The car sounds VERY aggressive on the street and is amazingly smooth on the expressway with hardly any interior resonance! Gets an average of 18mpg city/highway. I have got as much as 26mpg on the highway! - All C4's have two sets of keys. One for the driver side door and one for the ignition. I accidentally misplaced the door key. A quick trip to a locksmith will take care of this. Ignition key/ with resistor chip and ignition blank keys are included though! - Passenger selt belt sticks at times. - The radio head unit is made by Pioneer and has a CD player. The front 4 speakers are connected and work just fine. The rear speakers will require an additional amp to power up. I had one but it stopped working, All the wiring is done and ready to accept a new amp unit. |

Nissan Leaf has 2nd-best sales month ever, Chevy Volt does a 2013 repeat [UPDATE]
Tue, Apr 1 2014UPDATE: The official press release says that "Volt [sales were] up 7 percent," but Randy Fox let AutoblogGreen know that this is simply due to a change in the fleet/retail mix between March 2013 and 2014. The actual number sold was exactly the same in the two months. A month ago, Nissan's director of EV sales and marketing, Toby Perry, said he expected to see the Leaf's sales momentum continue into March. It wasn't a big leap, since January and February were slow sales months in 2013 (around 640 each) before a big climb to 2,200 in March. In 2014, the first two months of the year were better (around 1,300 each) but Nissan can still be happy that the Leaf just had the best March ever and its second-highest sales month ever, with 2,507 sold. That's a 12.1 percent increase from 2013 and Perry said in a statement to AutoblogGreen that one reason is all of the buyers who are becoming evangelists for the vehicle. "We've also seen an increase in showroom traffic as we enhanced our marketing presence in March," he said. Nissan pointed to cities like Washington, DC, Raleigh-Durham, NC and urban areas in Texas as strong Leaf markets last month. On the Chevy Volt front, January and February were also slow months in 2014, down roughly half from the 2,000-ish the plug-in hybrid was selling at the end of 2013. For 2014, sales were up slightly from the first two months of the year and Chevy spokesman Randy Fox told AutoblogGreen that the March number was "pretty flat, year-over-year." Even with that warning, we were surprised to see the total come in at 1,478. Why's that? Because the total for March 2013 was ... 1,478. So, yeah, that's pretty steady even if there were 26 selling days in March period this year compared to 27 last year. GM tells owners not to use SUV wipers due to fire risk
Sun, Oct 11 2015General Motors is recalling 31,685 examples of the 2016 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia because a short circuit in the windshield wiper motor can potentially lead to a fire. Due to the danger, the company is asking owners not to use the wipers until the problem is fixed, according to The Detroit Free Press citing the Associated Press. A manufacturing defect in the wiper motor cover means that the electrical terminals can come into contact and cause a short. The part could "melt, smoke, or catch fire," according to a statement from GM. The company will get them fixed immediately, and dealers will replace the cover. If there's bad weather at the time the owner specifies to get the recall work completed, the automaker will come pick up the crossovers. Depending on parts availability, the automaker will supply a rental car for customers, as well. The issue was discovered at the factory. According to the company's statement, only 6,405 actually made it to customers, and they were notified immediately by overnight letter. The rest were in dealer stock. The affected crossovers carry build dates between August 18, 2015 and September 24, 2015. Of those, there are 29,295 in the US and 1,073 in Canada. GM Statement: General Motors has told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it will recall approximately 29,295 2016 model year Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia SUVs in the U.S. because the front windshield wiper motor may overheat when in use because of a manufacturing defect. In some cases, the front windshield wiper motor cover may melt, smoke or catch fire. The approximately 6,405 customers who have taken delivery of these vehicles were notified by overnight letter and are urged to contact a GM dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service appointment. These customers should not use the front windshield wipers until they have been repaired. If weather conditions prevent driving the vehicle without using the windshield wipers, GM will arrange to pick up the vehicle for servicing. If repair parts are unavailable, GM will provide a rental car at no cost until parts become available. The total population, including Canada, Mexico and exports, is approximately 31,685. About 25,280 of these vehicles are in dealer stock and will not be sold until repairs are made.

In fact, according to General Motors, the earliest Z06s could be in customer hands by the end of this week.
