1982 Chevrolet Corvette - 20,323 Miles, Loaded, Everything Works!!! 2nd Owner!!! on 2040-cars
Norristown, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for Adoption: A 1982 CORVETTE Coupe, with 20,323
original miles! A mint survivor, so there is no need for any restoration.
Original Paint, Numbers Matching Drive Train, Original Interior. In order to keep this '82 roadworthy New Tires were installed as were New Calipers, Rotors and Brake Pads. The Radiator was flushed as well as the Cooling System, along with a New Oil Filter & Oil. The Gas Tank was Dropped, Steamed and Replaced with a New Fuel Sending Unit & Fuel Pump. All of the old parts were kept and will be available for the new owner to keep the car as original as possible, if you want to. We made these few minor changes to make the '82 safe to drive without question. This was the Last Year of the C-3 Corvettes so Chevrolet made it the final and the best year for this Iconic American Classic in this body style. The 1982 Corvette Stingray is at the very pinnacle of the 16 years of C3 developments and refinements. This Corvette represents the high-mark in styling, performance and safety, and was exclusively granted by GM/Chevy to be the best/last and most collectable example of all the Mako-Shark/StingRay styled years of the famous C-3's. This '82 Corvette is a wonderful example of its breed. This all American Muscle/Sports Car loves to be driven, is powerful, enjoys cornering, cruising and long runs, and also enjoys very good fuel efficiency. This Stingray is a blast to own, a pleasure to work on and fun to drive, so by being one of the Coolest of all rides to call your own, she turns heads and always produces smiles! Of course she's treated as royalty, maintained better than the book calls for, and gets only the best of everything when she is bedded down on blocks, covered with 2 car covers, and put on a battery tender in a climate controlled garage. I have all of the official paperwork, owner's manual, build sheet, window sticker, & much more to go with this Exceptional Vehicle… Anything that was replaced to make this vehicle roadworthy to maintain a Current Pennsylvania Inspection Sticker was placed in boxes and will come with the vehicle. The Last Picture in the series #24 is of the number 916 in Yellow Crayon that was applied at the Factory the day this Corvette's Body met the Frame for the 1st time. That was 32 Years Ago and It's Still There! It has a clean CarFax since it has never been in an accident! Thank-you for your interest. |

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards
Tue, 27 Nov 2012Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:
Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
IIHS: High numbers of drivers treat partially automated cars as fully self-driving
Tue, Oct 11 2022WASHINGTON — Drivers using advanced driver assistance systems like Tesla Autopilot or General Motors Super Cruise often treat their vehicles as fully self-driving despite warnings, a new study has found. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an industry funded group that prods automakers to make safer vehicles, said on Tuesday a survey found regular users of Super Cruise, Nissan/Infiniti ProPILOT Assist and Tesla Autopilot "said they were more likely to perform non-driving-related activities like eating or texting while using their partial automation systems than while driving unassisted." The IIHS study of 600 active users found 53% of Super Cruise, 42% of Autopilot and 12% of ProPILOT Assist owners "said that they were comfortable treating their vehicles as fully self-driving." About 40% of users of Autopilot and Super Cruise — two systems with lockout features for failing to pay attention — reported systems had at some point switched off while they were driving and would not reactivate. "The big-picture message here is that the early adopters of these systems still have a poor understanding of the technologyÂ’s limits," said IIHS President David Harkey. The study comes as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is scrutinizing Autopilot crashes. Since 2016, the NHTSA has opened 37 special investigations involving 18 deaths in crashes involving Tesla vehicles and where systems like Autopilot were suspected of use. Tesla did not respond to requests for comment. Tesla says Autopilot does not make vehicles autonomous and is intended for use with a fully attentive driver who is prepared to take over. GM, which in August said owners could use Super Cruise on 400,000 miles (643,740 km) of North American roads and plans to offer Super Cruise on 22 models by the end of 2023, did not immediately comment. IIHS said advertisements for Super Cruise focus on hands-free capabilities while Autopilot evokes the name used in passenger airplanes and "implies TeslaÂ’s system is more capable than it really is." IIHS in contrast noted ProPILOT Assist "suggests that itÂ’s an assistance feature, rather than a replacement for the driver." NHTSA and automakers say none of the systems make vehicles autonomous. Nissan said its name "is clearly communicating ProPILOT Assist as a system to aid the driver, and it requires hands-on operation.
