1981 Chevrolet Corvette / Blue
VIN: 1G1AY8764BS431468
My wife and I are the 2nd owners of this wonderful machine.
The miles are accurate and the vehicle title will reflect the accurate miles.
We are selling several of our toys in order to simplify our life. We are senior citizens and are now looking to
acquire a condo in FL and we will only be allowed 1 automobile and 1 motorcycle.
We have enjoyed this 1981 Corvette which drives like new and with only 49,553 miles {which will change as we will
be driving it until it goes to someone else}.
I will describe this Corvette to the best of my knowledge.
The radio is an AM/FM original to the car and works perfectly. The radio antenna does not go up and down but I have
a new one in the box that will go with the car.
The seats are in excellent shape WITH NO rips or tears whatsoever.
All instruments on dash work perfectly including the clock.
The speed-o / tachometer work perfectly.
All dash lights work perfectly.
The DASH has NO CRACKS in it.
The windshield wipers work perfectly
The Windshield has a stress crack about 8” long in the driver left corner. It does not interfere with your
vision.
The cruise control works perfectly.
The power windows works perfectly.
The power door locks works perfectly.
The keys operate the ignition, glove box and door locks as they should.
The headlights operate perfectly.
Brakes are excellent and work perfectly. The parking brake DOES NOT work.
The automatic transmission shifts perfectly. It does have a “SMALL” leak around one of the seals BUT it’s
very small and I was told not to worry about it.
The radiator is brand new {installed less than 100 miles ago} as the original one finally rusted out.
The battery is new {installed less than 100 miles ago}
The water-pump was changed last season {Less than 500 miles ago}.
The fuel pump was changed last season {Less than 500 miles ago}.
The driver side T-top has air coming in and I suspect it’s time to replace the T-top seals. I have a new set that
will go with the car.
The driver T-top has a long scratch on the mirror finish. It was that way when we acquired the vehicle. It does not
bother us.
The A/C blows Ice cold, all vents operate as they should and the heater works as it should.
The exhaust is still in excellent shape.
There is NO RUST on this vehicle.
In 2007 the car was involved in a minor accident and was repaired by a professional shop and received a complete
repaint at that time. There was no frame damage just damage to the body.
The tires are only the 2nd set of tires that’s been on this car and they still have lots of life left in them.
I have a few extra interior / exterior parts that I will include with the car.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

GM recalls 3,300 pickups and SUVs for new ignition-switch issue [UPDATE]

Mon, Oct 19 2015

UPDATE: A statement from GM about the recall has been added below. The exact total of vehicles affected is 3,296, including 3,073 of them in the US. General Motors isn't letting an ignition-switch problem grow into a massive scandal again. The automaker is recalling about 3,300 North American trucks and SUVs. They are: the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra and the 2015 Chevy Suburban and Chevy Tahoe, as well as 2015 model heavy-duty pickups, the Detroit News reports, citing an Associated Press story. The issue appears to have been caught fairly quickly. In this case, the keys can get stuck in the "start" position and then slip to "accessory" if bumped. This is because the ignition lock gears have an outer diameter that's larger than the specifications allow. When that happens the engine shuts off, and the driver loses assistance to the steering and brakes. The airbags might also be affected. The vehicles get a new ignition-lock housing to fix the problem. According to the Detroit News, an employee who experienced the problem with the switch discovered the issue, and this person then let officials at the automaker know as part of the Speak Up for Safety program. A total of five reports of the fault were discovered. However, there are no cases of injuries or crashes. The claims to the automaker's resolution program eventually tallied that GM's previous ignition switch problem included 124 deaths and 275 injuries. The company also had to recall millions of vehicles and pay significant fines to the US government. GM Statement General Motors is recalling 3,073 full-size trucks from the 2014 and 2015 model years in the U.S. Some of these vehicles may have an ignition lock actuator gear with an outer diameter that exceeds specifications, which may make turning the ignition key difficult. The ignition key could get stuck in the "start" position. This may be more likely at higher interior ambient temperatures. If the vehicle is driven with the key stuck in the "start" position, and the vehicle experiences a significant jarring event or the vehicle's interior temperature cools, the ignition lock cylinder could move out of the "start" position, rotate past the "run" position, and move into the "accessory" position, leading to loss of power steering assist, power brakes and potentially air bag deployment in certain crashes. Dealers will replace the ignition lock housing.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
