Up for auction is a 1976 Orange Flame Corvette Coupe. The owner of this great car has owned it since 2009. Prior to that, my best friend owned it. He has had it since 2006. The paint code is 70 (Orange Flame). Interior code is L,64V=Bu. The car is numbers matching. The only thing on this car that was added, was the luggage rack. A few years ago, the paint was freshened up, and holds a great shine.
I have been taking this Corvette to car shows for the past 3 years, while my 74 Corvette is being restored. It won a lot of awards.
The Good about the car. Never has been wrecked or rebuilt. It's a little better then a surviver condition. Tires have over 80% of tread on them. Frame is not rusted any where, and the bird cage is in great conditon. Like I said, I have known this car since 2006, and can verify anything since then. Rear brakes were just put on last weekend, so it was ready for the Columbia, Missouri Corvette Show. New radiator, water pump, a arm bushings and seals. All bearings in trailing arms have been rebuilt 2 years ago. The ride is amazing!!!
The bad (to me). The headers needs to be replaced with stock manifolds. Exhaust pipe needs to be reduced back to 2 and a half inch. (now 3"). To me, the sound is just a bit too much. There is an oil leak from the rear of the engine. Most likely the rear main seal needs replaced. And some one who knows all about vacum lines to carb, to idel better. It runs great, lots of tourque, but at low speeds, seems to be a little rough. This Corvette sits in storage most of the year. It needs to be driven and shown off.
The interior is very straight. On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 9.5 or better. New carpet 3 years ago, with new floor matts. The paint condition is a 9.2. There a are couple of places where it needs to be touched up, but wont see them til you look real close. door and hood alignment is perfect. Even the head lights work like they should.
The gentelman that owns this car now is selling 2 of his 3 corvettes. Another 76, but it is red with black interior. He is in his mid 70's and is finding it a bit too much to keep up with these cars.
Transporation is up to buyer, and there is no implied warrenty. I believe he or I will help locate transportaion if needed, but it will be up to the winning bidder. If there are any questions about what I may have missed, just e-mail me, and I will respond as quickly as possible. This Corvette is located in Fulton, Missouri, and if, at any time, can be inspected by you, by making arrangements.
Thank you for taking time and intrest in this fine 76 Corvette Coupe. Happy Bidding.

I have made a mistake. This is an L-82, NOT an L-88. I am very sorry for this misunderstanding on my part.

GM announces 3 new recalls affecting 1.7M vehicles in North America [w/video]
Mon, Mar 17 2014Still embroiled in the ongoing ignition switch recall, General Motors announced today three more discrete recalls, affecting a grand total of 1,546,900 vehicles in the US. The Detroit News reports that some 1.7 million vehicles are affected overall in North America. The first and largest of the trio of new recalls concerns some 1.18-million Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia crossovers from the 2008-2013 model years, Chevrolet Traverse from 2009-2013 (pictured above) and Saturn Outlook vehicles from 2008-2010. All of the crossover utilities may have an issue with the wiring harness for their seat-mounted side airbags. Apparently, the vehicles are equipped with a Service Air Bag warning light that, if ignored, "will eventually result in the non-deployment of the side impact restraints." Those restraints include the side airbags, a front-center airbag if the vehicle is so equipped and seatbelt pretensioners. Dealers of affected vehicles will be instructed to remove driver and passenger side airbag wiring harness connectors, and then "splice and solder the wires together." The second recall affects 303,000 Chevrolet Express (pictured right) and GMC Savana vans from model years 2009-2014, and with gross vehicle weights under 10,000 pounds. Said vehicles do not comply with a head impact requirement for unrestrained occupants, and will need a reworking of the instrument panel material to be sent back on the road. It doesn't sound as though there's a quick fix for this one, as the GM press release states: "Unsold vehicles have been placed on a stop delivery until development of the solution has been completed and parts are available." Finally, the third recall affects 63,900 Cadillac XTS luxury sedans from model years 2013 and 2014. A brake booster pump may be susceptible to corrosion by way of the relay, potentially causing and electrical short, overheating, melting of plastic components and even engine fires. GM says it is aware of two engine fires in unsold XTS models and two cases of melted parts. Repairs for the issues affecting the XTS have not not mentioned by GM in the release. The Detroit News is also reporting that along with news of the triple-recall, GM is taking a $300-million credit to help pay for the repair costs, and to deal with the ongoing costs associated with the ignition switch recall. In an attempt to explain just what GM has been doing in the face of these very serious issues, newly minted CEO Mary Barra has addressed the issues in a new video.
Weekly Recap: Electric Rapide concept showcases Aston's future
Sat, Oct 24 2015Aston Martin showed off an all-electric Rapide S prototype this week and announced an agreement with investment firm ChinaEquity to explore development of a production version of the sports sedan. The car could arrive in about two years if the project advances, and it would be built in Gaydon, England. The concept car, called the "RapidE" was developed with Williams Advanced Engineering. The electric Rapide is meant to highlight British innovation, and it was revealed during a state visit by Chinese president Xi Jinping to the United Kingdom. Spec were not available for the concept on display. "The car we showed in London is a fully running concept but not yet defining [of] our choice of battery, motor, inverter, etc," spokesman Simon Sproule said. "Now that we have a clearer path for producing the car, we will be defining all the parameters." Aston Martin has been vocal about its electric ambitions this year, and Sproule told us at the New York Auto Show that an all-electric Rapide could cost $200,000 to $250,000 or more. "It's a study, but we're serious about it," he said. Some reports have indicated the electric Rapide could pack as much as 1,000 horsepower. Aston considers electric technology the strongest play for modernizing its powertrains and meeting emissions standards around the world. Hybrids and all-electric models can offer high outputs and strong torque delivery, which is in keeping with the Aston's image as a sportscar maker. Company brass prefer this option over dropping down to four-cylinder engines. And yes, V8s and V12s remain part of the plan. The electric push is part of Aston's future strategy to remake its lineup, which includes refreshing its sportscars, building a production version of the electric all-wheel-drive DBX concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and adding a four-door Lagonda. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Domino's serves up purpose-built delivery car Domino's revealed a purpose-built pizza delivery car based on the Chevy Spark. It's called the DXP, for Delivery Expert, and it can handle up to 80 pizzas. The pies stay warm thanks to an oven located behind the driver's seat, and the DXP is sauced up with a puddle-lighting feature that projects the Domino's logo outside of the car. Power comes from the Spark's stock 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 84 hp that gets up to 39 mpg on the highway. Chevy dealers will be trained to service the DXP.
Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
