I have personally owned this car for 20 years. For the last 23 years I have owned 2 car lots, sold 12,000 cars, and kept 3 for myself. This is one of them. I'm going to sell the car with NO RESERVE. I apologize to all the people who begged, pleaded, left messages, cards, etc...to call them if I ever decided to sell it. This is the only fair way to sell it.
The car drives fantastic. The clutch is smooth, the motor purrs & it goes down the road straight as an arrow. I've replaced the carburetor, clutch, tires, brake calipers and have had the M21 & the posi differential rebuilt (I believe the gears are 3.55:1). I have enjoyed driving the car in it's current cosmetic state, for 20 years. It has been a joy parking wherever I wanted, without concern for getting a nick or a scratch. My 4 kids have enjoyed climbing into the front seat like Batman & Robin.
This is arguably one of the most iconic muscle cars ever produced. I've enjoyed the unrestored condition of the car, far more than any of the other restored classics that I have owned. Nick Nolte would be proud. You can drive it just the way it is, or restore it. Please don't compare this completely rust free car with anything else from the Midwest or East coast. Despite what those owners say, those cars will be rust buckets. The top mechanism functions perfectly. I never drive the car in the rain, so I never got around to installing the brand new top (included). When I replaced the gas tank, I saved the original tank sticker...unfortunately, my wife threw it away (it was stored in a mid 70's Penthouse magazine I had. The motor (not original) operates flawlessly (perfect cold start, no tick tick, smoke, etc...) It idles perfectly smooth. I always fantasized about building a ridiculously powerful replacement, but this one never ever gave me any reason to change it. Of course a perfectionist would want a mirror paint job...Whenever anyone commented about my paint quality, I always asked them, "What color is your 1969 Stingray?" This car's paint is faded. I believe most of the car has it's original paint, based on the vintage hand painted pinstripes (sans some brush touchup & the drivers door has been repainted. Of course you are going to have to tinker with a few things on a 44 year old classic (that's the fun part). I'm also including the ignition wire dress kit, that originally routed the wires, and covered the distributor. I am not suggesting that the 73,252 miles are original. I believe the original motor was a 300hp 350ci.
This is a NO RESERVE auction...please don't ask me to end the auction early. If you have ZERO or recent negative feedback, please contact me before you bid, or I will cancel your bid. If you don't have the money, or need to talk to your mommy (or daddy) before you buy, please refrain form bidding. I have extensive experience shipping cars all over the country. Email me for a shipping quote.
If you have any specific questions or require other specific photos or video, text me (Cory) at 206-817-2653, and I will forward them to your smart phone.
ULTIMATE FATHER'S DAY GIFT or this will make a wonderful heirloom.

GM cutting Chevy Sonic, Buick Verano production [UPDATE]
Sun, Jan 25 2015UPDATE: A previous version of this story indicated that Orion Assembly would be idled for seven weeks, from February 16 through April 6. This was incorrect. The factory will instead only be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6. The story has been edited to reflect this. General Motors has announced that the factory responsible for the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic will be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6, with blame being placed on excess supply. The Orion Assembly plant, about 45 minutes north of GM's Renaissance Center headquarters, employs about 1,800 people, but they'll be given a pair of furloughs as inventories of the sub-compact Sonic and premium compact Verano reach 127 days and 84 days, respectively. That works out to 26,600 Chevys and 9,800 Buicks waiting for buyers. According to Automotive News, the compact Chevy sales bested the industry average in 2014, jumping up nine percent versus the the overall segment's eight-percent gain, while the Buick sedan's sales were down four percent. When asked about the shutdown, a GM spokesman told AN that it will "build to market demand," while also pointing out that the company did not comment on production plans. 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel arrives with 42 mpg for $25,695*
Thu, 07 Feb 2013The last time General Motors had a diesel passenger car in the US, it was the 1.8-liter 1986 Chevette. At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show today, GM is unveiling the much-anticipated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. The compact bows with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that boasts 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with full twist coming on at just 2,000 rpm. What's more, the common-rail, direct-injection diesel features an overboost function that allows the engine to deliver up to 280 lb-ft of torque for 10 seconds at a time. Even with 10 more horsepower and 110 more pound-feet of torque than the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the Cruze, the 2.0-liter diesel engine can return up to 42 mpg (highway) bolted to its six-speed automatic transmission.
If you're counting, that figure meets the less powerful Cruze Eco with a six-speed manual transmission. More importantly, the auto transmission Cruze Diesel matches its main competition, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, in highway fuel economy. The Cruze 2.0 TD (as it will be badged) can also handle up to 20 percent biodiesel (B20), whereas the Jetta is rated only for B5. General Motors has not released city fuel economy for its newest diesel, but we do know how much it will cost you to jump behind the driver's seat.
GM will kindly ask for $25,695, plus an $810 destination fee. That marks a $2,115 premium over a loaded Cruze LTZ Auto and $2,640 more than the Jetta TDI, though the MSRP will net you a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels and an Aero Performance Package, as well as a two-year maintenance plan and five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Compared to the gas-powered Cruze, you also lose a couple cubic feet of rear cargo space thanks to a 17-liter diesel emission fluid tank. That urea fluid, which helps put the clean in clean diesel, will need to be refilled at least every 10,000 miles.
Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint
Thu, May 21 2020For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.
