Bloomington Gold Certificate Award June 2013 Regional and Chapter Top Flight Awards

This is a beautiful example of the true  American sports car- the coveted and much heralded 1967 C2 / Mid-year Big Block 427 Corvette coupe. The last model year of this amazing and most desired Engine & body  style. It has the original, numbers matching 427 /400 HP engine  that it was born with.

This is a body-off restoration,(a 5 year project)correct Marlboro  Maroon paint. with black vinyl interior, this car is  Restored to the Highest Level of NCRS Rigid Guide Lines and is

absolutely

 STUNNING!

This is an original and correct, born-with matching numbers L68 427/400 HP, 4-speed close-ratio Muncie M-21 transmission This Corvette is a very high option model with power windows, power steering, power brakes,  telescopic steering wheel, and speed warning indicator on the speedometer. This car has had a very recent frame off restoration, and was done to the exacting standards of the NCRS every nut and bolt has the correct stampings  ,every component and every fastener is correct and has the proper date codes .This car has never scored below 95.6 % and scored better at Bloomington Gold- -I have all the scoring sheets (every Judge marked the scoring sheets with a smiley face and stated what a pleasure it was to judge this car ) also have all the photos and receipts of the complete restoration which will come with the purchase  . The panel fit and finish is awesome.  The restorer spent HUNDREDS of hours getting everything just perfect.

 T

he interior is as new with all top quality Al Knoch materials, the engine and transmission and also the rear differential  have been completely rebuilt as well as the  3x2 carbs to NCRS specifications. The car has new brakes with stainless sleeves and new brake lines, all new suspension components, and new fuel lines,  there is no way to list it all on this forum ..... There is no evidence of the body or frame ever sustaining any damage all bonding strips appear to be original and damage free . All gauges work exactly as they should including the clock with it's original movement.  Running lights, headlights, high beams, turn signals, brake lights, speed sensor on the speedo, all work perfectly. As the photos show, the underside is as clean as the exterior. Approximately 43 miles on the car since completion of the restoration. I have always trailered this car to these events and only miles that were put on after the restoration were for testing (43 miles)  , so if you are serious call me - as most people will tell you its more economical to buy a car thats done then one that needs restoration -I have had the enjoyment of finishing this car and its time to move on   - looking for some waterfront property and need the funds - is the only reason Im selling .

The only Doc's I have is the Validation Letter from NCRS stating the Trim and Vin Numbers are original to the car

I guarantee who ever gets this car will not be disappointed!

This Rare True American Classic is being offered for sale please dont bid unless you intend to purchase  I am being completely honest when I tell you I have over $180,000 into this restoration - but as my friends always tell me "It aint cheap to be cool- but its not cool to be cheap" no expense was spared as you will see when you look at this car

(side note)-- car comes with the correct   rally wheels and Bias Ply white walls only(in Pics)- red lines do not belong to me- only on the car for storage purposes

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes

Wed, Feb 19 2014

There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.

Camaro driver clocked at 171 miles per hour

Wed, Apr 13 2016

Chevy's 2016 Camaro SS is a fantastic piece of automotive engineering. It is also, apparently, very, very fast. This latter fact was perfectly illustrated when, on April 8, a Camaro SS driver was nailed in Two Harbors, Minnesota for doing 171 mph. According to WFAA, the unnamed speed demon was flying down Highway 61 near Two Harbors when Hermantown, MN Deputy Police Chief Shawn Padden clocked him at an eye-watering 171 mph. He then recorded the speeder at 168 and 141. At the time, Deputy Chief Padden was working with Minnesota State Patrol on an anti-DWI program called "Toward Zero Deaths". Padden, who was interviewed by the Duluth News Tribune, said he was surprised at the driver's sheer speed. "When he went by me, it was a blur," Padden told the News. "You get used to seeing people going 65 or 70 and what that looks like. But I've never seen anything like this. It's like a rocket on wheels." Fadden chased the Camaro down eventually, but it took some doing. To catch the Camaro, he pushed his Dodge Charger Pursuit to 135 mph just to get into range so the Camaro could see his emergency lights. The speeding driver was ticketed for careless driving, but may lose his license due to a Minnesota law that gives courts the option of revoking licenses for drivers caught doing more than 100 mph.
