1966 Corvette 427/425. Nassau blue exterior, bright blue interior.
Four speed close ratio, Hurst shifter, side exhaust, AM/FM radio, power antenna, teak steering wheel, whitewall
radial tires on stock wheels.

The rear half of the car (underside) is restored, everything as new and correct. The front half of the car is as I
received it, except for a new radiator core. Also, the entire brake system is now replaced/restored; new booster,
rotors, restored calipers, parking brake, all S.S. lines, etc.

A previous owner applied the paint, re-chromed bumpers, etc. The color is accurate and well done. A couple paint
chips need fixing (see in pictures). Overall the body is excellent. Areas that are often cracked from age on
Corvettes, look good on this car. I have looked all around from underneath and have not found any evidence of old
accident damage.

The frame also looked very good in the back during the refurbishment. For example, the body mounts that are often
rusty are very solid on this car.

The interior shows wear but looks good overall. Seat covers excellent. Carpet fair at best. Convertible top good
condition. The California owner told me it was originally a radio delete car, but sorry, he installed a radio. I
followed suit with the power antenna and OEM dash control switch. Clock works, but after 14 years I now must tap on
the clock once after it sits for weeks.

Runs and shifts beautifully. The engine block is dated 1968 and is a CExxxxxxx (Chev Engingg) warranty replacement
block. Runs on pump gas. Tube headers, loud exhaust. Sounds fantastic. Just sitting in this car and hearing it
start is a thrill and raises a huge smile.

GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.
