1966 Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Watsonville, California, United States
It is with some regret that I am putting my 1966 Corvette Stingray up for sale.
I bought this car from ProTeam Corvette in Napoleon OH in June of 1999. After driving it for a few years the original engine (matching # block) threw a rod. Instead of rebuilding the engine I put it on a engine stand and installed a new Chevy ZZ4 crate engine. I will ship the original engine and stand with the car. The ZZ4 engine is a 350 ci, 360 horsepower engine with aluminum heads. I don't recall what the torque is. The new brakes are upgrades from the original 4-wheel disc and will not loose brake pressure if stored for a while. I have also installed the following: Power steering with an aftermarket rack and pinion steering unit from Corvette America (I think it was Corvette America or Eklers) I was getting catalogs from them for years. Ceramic headers. Front Stabilizer bar. Large capacity radiator and fan. Everything on this car works but not perfectly. Headlights are a bit slow but will rotate. The radio and even the power antenna works although living in Santa Cruz CA. the reception is terrible. Door latches are a bit sticky. Interior is original as far as I can see. The car had a frame on restoration at ProTeam Corvette and was repainted. I have a dust cover for it but is only a inside cover, not waterproof. The car runs beautifully and other than a couple paint chips (tiny) is in excellent shape. The car shows no evidence of ever having been in an accident, the body shows no evidence of fiberglass repair or undercarriage damage. I have the steering parts, flywheel and an extra cam from the original engine. I do have a hard top for it but while it was painted when they did the restoration, it is scratched. I did this when I moved it from my shop to my garage. I never planned to put it back on anyway. I would like to pass this great car on to a good home, my time taking care of it is coming to an end. I'm 56 yrs old and have never abused or been out hot rodding in it, well maybe a little. I had the mechanic who has done all the work on it for the last 10-12 years go over everything that I wrote in this ad to verify the description and I just had it detailed and it really looks great. I have replaced or repaired everything on this car so all you need to do is enjoy it. The classic Corvette is a joy to drive, it sounds powerful and throaty, and it draws a crowd wherever I go. 2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers
Fri, Oct 31 2014If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. GM Recalls 218,000 Chevy Aveo Models Over Fire-Prone Lighting
Wed, May 21 2014The recall train keeps on rolling for General Motors. Hot on the heels of its recent 2.4 million-vehicle recall of various models, it's now calling in 218,000 Chevrolet Aveo units from the 2004-2008 model years because they could catch fire. The problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," and the company "is still investigating." Adler wouldn't comment about how many fires were reported or when the automaker was first aware of this issue because of the ongoing analysis. However, he said the issue has not caused any injuries or fatalities. GM also doesn't have a fix for the problem with the DRL module yet. The company says in its recall statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the remedy "is still under development." Adler wasn't sure when it would be ready, but he said Aveo owners would receive notification in the mail "relatively soon." They will receive a second letter later to schedule the repair. In a separate letter about the Aveo's problem to NHTSA (viewable here as a PDF), GM said its Executive Field Action Decision Committee decided to conduct the recall on May 16. Scroll down for the recall report. RECALL Subject : Daytime Running Light Module Overheating Report Receipt Date: MAY 19, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V261000 Component(s): Potential Number of Units Affected: 218,000 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module. CONSEQUENCE: If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire. REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236.
