Corvette Grand Sport Replica Vintage Road Race Car
This is a replica Corvette Grand Sport Vintage road racecar that was raced from 1963-67.
This car is street legal and has a license and registration. It has the following safety items; headlights, parking
light, taillights, directional light front and rear, horn, license light in the rear and windshield wipers.
Construction started with a 4” tube frame, like the original Grand Sports. It was first zinc primed and then
painted in semi-gloss Dupont Imron. Corvette C-4 suspension was added to the front and rear.
Front: Used Corvette polished aluminum upper and lower A-Arms, spindles, new rotors, calipers and pads. Non-
corvette parts: Sweet steering rack, Alden Eagle adjustable coil over shocks, custom made tie rods and sway bar,
links, brackets and bushings.
Rear: rebuilt used Corvette rear end (3:07 gears), ½ shafts (cut) 1 ½”: new u-joints, rebuilt wheel spindles
housings, 2 upper and lower T-Arms rods with poly bushings, 2 new rotors, calipers an pads.
Non-Corvette parts are the 2 rear Alden Eagle adjustable coil over shocks, custom strut and toe rods.
Transmission: Corvette 700-R4 Professionally rebuilt with 2000 RPM converter, with a manual overdrive switch, and
custom trans. cooler. Also new u-joints.
Non-Corvette: Hurst Mega shifter, custom transmission mounts.
I have the standard transmission clutch mounts on the frame as well as the standard clutch and brake pedals for
conversion to a standard transmission.
Tires and Wheels: Wheels are American Torque Thrust 7” front 8 ½” rear with
B.F. Goodrich tires.
Body: The body was a one-piece kit car fiberglass body that was professionally modified. The first modification
was to reinforce the door areas and the dash to accommodate original 67 Corvette coupe doors with 63-67 Corvette
hinges and latches. The second was to modify the windshield and rear window areas to accommodate new reproduction
glass windshield and rear window. The third was to move the gas filler area from the side to the rear and relocate
the racing fuel cell to the rear, rather than behind the seats. The fourth modification was to fill in the rear
opening for the transmission cooler and put an opening for the Corvette gas lid and gas tank filler area. The
fifth was the grill vents in the front and side of the hood, which were custom made of fiberglass, (instead of
metal) and bonded to the openings in the hood. The entire body was reworked before being primed with epoxy primer
then painted in base coat Le Mans metallic blue. A custom white racing stripe was then applied before the entire
car was clear coated.
The front and side fender grill are custom made except for the following which are all GM Corvette parts; front
emblem, door handles and locks, side view mirror, rear emblem, gas door lid, parking and taillight lenses, license
plate bezel and light, and Grand Sport emblems. The entire vehicle weight 2540lbs.
The headlight system and clear plastic covers are custom made.
Interior: The instrument cluster is 1965-67 Corvette that was restored and the gauges were re-screened. The tach
red line at 6000 RPM and the oil pressure gauge is 80 lbs.
The steering column is from a 1965-66 Corvette, with a new horn button. The door panels are new 67 Al Knock deluxe
door panels and custom Al Knock carpet with new 63-67 Corvette carpet pads and center cushion. The door vent
window crank, locks, and open knobs are Corvette. All three wiring harnesses (motor, dash, and rear) are 66-67
Corvette wiring harnesses. All gauges and instruments (wiper, headlight, lighter, ignition) work. The door
weather-strip is new and so are the coupe window felts. The door and vent window are Corvette. The seat belts are
racing harnesses and a two-piece roll bar is mounted to the frame. The seats are adjustable cloth/vinyl.
Motor: 350 Chevy 4-bolt main with new Corvette aluminum head with roller rockers. The intake is aluminum with a
600 CMF Holley and open element air cleaner. The distributor is a mechanical tach drive with 2 ½” exhaust
manifold and a custom stainless side exhaust under the body so they will not burn the legs of the passenger or
driver upon exit or entry.
The radiator was new and has a Plainless electric cooling fan with a thermostat relay. The valve covers were off of
a 84 Corvette.
The power brake booster is a reproduction for 63-67 Corvette with a dual master cylinder and custom brake and fuel
lines.
I have numerous photos and a notebook of reciepts at all stages of the construction of the vehicle from the bare
frame to completion.

Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy hits CO2 goal, eVgo and BMW build fast charging

Fri, Nov 20 2015

Chevrolet has met its goal of preventing 8 million metric tons of CO2 emissions over the last five years. Through its community-based carbon reduction initiative, Chevy invested $40 million and took part in 38 different projects in 29 different states. The projects included supporting wind farms, powering a hospital with landfill gas, helping truckers reduce their idle time and helping create the ongoing #CleanEnergyU dialogue between students and clean energy leaders. In the end, Chevy retired all its carbon credits rather then spending them to offset its own emissions. Read more from Chevrolet. NRG eVgo and BMW are partnering to add DC Fast Combo charging to locations around the country. Over the next two years, the groups will bring hundreds of the 50-kW chargers to 25 cities, with 24 of those markets getting at least one installed by the end of 2015. "eVgo will add reliable DC Fast Combo capability to what is already America's largest DC Fast charging network," says eVgo President and CEO Arun Banskota. "This will be the fastest and most cost effective build out of a new network ever – thanks in large part to our existing infrastructure and committed retail host partners." Read more in the press release from eVgo. The EPA has settled with a Utah gasoline refiner over Clean Air Act violations. The HollyFrontier Corporation subsidiaries will pay $1.2 million for producing about 42 million gallons of gas that didn't adhere to Reid Vapor Pressure standards, resulting in 10 excess tons of volatile organic compound emissions. Its Salt Lake City refinery will also implement a program to offset past emissions. "This agreement will benefit public health by requiring retrofits of storage tanks at HollyFrontier facilities that will reduce volatile organic compound emissions and use next generation technology to verify these reductions," says Assistant Attorney General John Cruden. "This settlement shows that fuel refiners can and must meet the nation's standards for controlling the emissions that cause ground level ozone and serious health problems for Americans." GM's Buckle to Drive teen safety feature comes to more models for 2021

Mon, Jul 6 2020

In 2014, GM announced a feature called "Belt Assurance," which would prevent a vehicle from being shifted out of park until the driver and front passenger had buckled their seatbelts. Initially launched on certain fleet vehicles in 2014, the feature rolled out as a free option on the 2015 GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Colorado, Cruze and Silverado. At the time, GM said it would push Belt Assurance to more models if customers took to it. That appears to have happened; come 2019, GM repackaged Belt Assurance as Buckle to Drive, part of the automaker's Teen Driver System that bundled tech such as geofencing and speed limit warnings to help parents keep track of their children's driving habits. In that implementation, the system only works when Teen Driver Mode is activated, locking out the shifter and muting the radio for 20 seconds or until the seatbelts are buckled, whichever comes first. The system shows a visual warning in the gauge cluster, too.  For this model year, the Teen Driver System came standard on 10 Chevy models, but Buckle to Drive was only allotted to the Colorado, Malibu and Traverse. Later this year, the 2021 Camaro will join the Chevys outfitted with the Teen Driver System and will get Buckle to Drive in addition. GM Authority reports that for the 2021 model year, Buckle to Drive will also be picked up by the Cadillac CT4 and CT5. Previously, the Cadillac ATS, CTS, Escalade and XTS came with the Teen Driver System, but three out of those four vehicles are no more, and the 2021 Escalade makes no mention of the Teen Driver System nor Buckle to Drive among its safety features. Elsewhere around the GM empire, the Buick Envision and Encore GX include the Teen Driver System, as do six GMC vehicles, but it's not clear when any will be upgraded with Buckle to Drive. The tech could help save numerous teenagers' lives. On its page of teen crash facts, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention writes that roughly 300,000 teens between the ages of 16 and 19 ended up in emergency rooms to treat crash injuries in 2017. Furthermore, "only 58.8% of high school students always wore seat belts when riding as passengers," and, "Among young drivers aged 15-20 who died in car crashes in 2017, almost half were unrestrained at the time of the crash (when restraint use was known)." Corvette Stingray gets optional Z06 components

Thu, Nov 5 2015

If you've got a Corvette Stingray in the garage and have been tempted by some of the upgrades incorporated into the Z06, but can't quite bring yourself to trade up, Chevy has got some good news for you. The Bowtie brand has announced a series of performance parts derived from those in the Z06, but applicable to the base Stingray. The list of parts includes new cooling elements, prop shafts, brakes, suspension components, and underbody braces. They can all be fitted to Stingray models with or without the Z51 performance kit, and promise to raise the Corvette's game if not quite to Z06 levels, then closer to them. And for Z06 owners interested in gaining a bit more advantage, Chevy is offering a new Level 3 aero kit as well. The parts were demonstrated on upgraded 'Vettes at the Ron Fellows driving school at Spring Mountain. The school is also serving as technical partner and the track as the location for a new spec racing series built around the C7 Corvette. Dubbed the Michelin Corvette Challenge, the calendar is composed of fifteen half-hour races held in pairs over eight weekends, all on the six-mile circuit near Las Vegas. The cars to be used in the series will be close to showroom stock and feature many of the new Z06-derived upgrades, with Michelin racing slicks for dry weather and Pilot Super Sport tires in the wet. Perhaps most compelling of all will be the payment plan that will allow participating amateur racers to pay in installments across the season and take home their Corvette after the season's conclusion in December. New Z06 Parts Enhance Corvette Stingray Performance Broad range of chassis, suspension and aero components enhance capability 2015-11-02 PAHRUMP, Nev. – Chevrolet today and drivers from the Ron Fellows Corvette high-performance driving school at the Spring Mountain track demonstrated Stingray models enhanced with components from a new lineup of Z06-based performance parts. They're designed for 2014+ Stingray models, including Z51-equipped cars. "We've selected specific components from the Corvette Z06 and engineered them to fit the award-winning Stingray," said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "These Z06 parts enhance the handling, braking, cooling and downforce performance of the Stingray." Ron Fellows, champion Corvette Racing driver, collaborated with Chevrolet Performance engineers on the all-new portfolio.
