1964 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible on 2040-cars
Omaha, Nebraska, United States
1964 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible. VIN# 40967W272901. Rare
Power Top that works well. Car is in very
good condition, drives straight at interstate speeds with no shimmy and runs
great. Mechanically very sound and
dependable worry-free driver, everything on the car works as it should both
mechanically and electrically. Nothing
worse than driving a classic car and fearing every time you stop at a light the
car will stall. No surprises or trailer-darling here, this car is ready to drive! I purchased the car 4 years ago and replaced the gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, had both carbs professionally rebuilt, new battery, rebuilt generator, new coil, distributor, wires, plugs, installed an AM\FM\CD\IPod Stereo (hidden in the glove box and closes as normal), 4 wheel brake job, lowered the frontend an inch for a better look and drive (no clearance issues), installed 4 new shocks, fixed power top and added rear seat seat-belts for safety. Solid floors and trunk, no visible rust on exterior of car. Interior in great shape with no tears or fading in seats, door panels or carpets. Convertible top in excellent condition with no tears, cracking or fading. Convertible top window clear and not yellowed, cracked or brittle. Replaced both front and rear bumpers and bumper guards with high-quality replacements with a great chrome shine. 14” tires also in great shape with very good tread and never lose air. Rims in OK condition with minimal pitting, but shine up nicely. Glass in good shape all around, few small chips in windshield, but none spidered\spreading or impeding view. Car always garaged in heated garage. Automatic transmission that you shift from the On-Dash gear selector works perfectly with no issues. Parking\Emergency brake works great. Dual Snorkel air cleaner non-stock for model, but feel it’s a better look. Paint in very good condition with good shine and looks great. Working odometer on car shows 14,541K miles, but unsure of actual miles as title doesn't show “in-excess” or state mileage of last transfer. Assuming 114K miles, but with a Convertible up-North, unsure. Runs very smooth with good power, no smoke and always starts right up and never stalls. Have Owners Manual, Service Manual, Convertible Top Cover, Car Cover and other small misc parts that will go with car. A true classic convertible that turns heads without breaking
the budget! I’ve decided to sell because
with 3 young kids, my priorities have changed for now and simply don’t have
time to drive it like I should. Full Disclosure Issues- Slight oil leak when sitting as common with Corvairs, but minimal. Small dent on top driver’s side quarter, smaller than the size of quarter (see Pic). Previous owner did cut rear door panels to install speakers (I would never do) but at least they did a nice job. Front panels in tact and stock. Speakers look good and sound great. Clear Illinois Title- I spent most of time repairing car to
be road worthy and never titled in Nebraska.
My intention was to register the “Classic YOM Plates” as seen on car and
never got around to it (lengthy process). Have clear
Illinois title and valid signed bill of sale from previous owner and myself. Payment due within 7 days of sale and car will not ship
without full and cleared payment, no exceptions. Buyer
responsible for pickup and\or any shipping charges. Bid with confidence, but please only bid on the car if you intend to buy it. The car is for sale and will sell to the highest bidder. I know I'd be leery of buying a car online, so I welcome onsite inspections during the auction from buyers or buyer’s agents, but when the auction end, the sale is final. Also, please message me for any additional information or questions and I'll do my best to answer. If requested, I can also provide my mobile number. Back in '08 I sold a 1968 Camaro for just over $25K and the buyer left feedback as the transaction being an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Please check my feedbacks over the years. My reserve is well below the NADA “Average Retail” of the car and by no means would I classify this as “an average 1964 Corvair Convertible”. Reserve also far below Hagerty's "lowest condition scale of 4". I would scale the car between a 2 and 3. My reserve is below these values as I'm ready to sell the car. Summer is nearly here, time to get into a classic ragtop and go topless!

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? Vote in our poll below, then feel free to leave a few lines in Comments.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
Mysterious white powder discovered at GM Orion Assembly
Fri, Sep 2 2016Workers at General Motors Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township, MI uncovered a mysterious white powder in two different parts of the factory earlier this week, raising concerns about worker safety. "We can confirm that an unknown substance (white powder) was found on the floor outside of Gate 6 at Orion Assembly on Monday, August 29. On Tuesday, August 30, we had a second report of a bottle containing a similar substance found inside the plant," GM spokesperson Dayna Hart told The Oakland Press via email. GM stressed that incident didn't disrupt operations at the plant, and that the company was taking steps to ensure the safety of the sprawling factory's workers. That did include, an anonymous worker told The Oakland Press, closing off parts of the factory for two full days, as drug-sniffing dogs and crews in haz-mat suits descended on the area. "A sample of the substance has been sent to a laboratory for identification and results are expected later this week," Hart said. "All findings and actions have been shared with our employees." Orion Assembly currently builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, and will eventually be responsible for production of the new, all-electric Chevy Bolt early next year. Related Video:
