Well  I am sure no expert on Corvairs, but an elderly friend of mine bought this turbo coupe from his sister in 1971 (42 years ago) It had about 40,000 miles on it then, and now has Just 50,515 original miles on it.
This car is mine now and I am selling it just as I received it. This car has sat for the last 20 years in his garage covered with boxes and stuff.

First I will list the minuses  as I see them..

Years ago he had a cheap paint job done on it. (and it looks like an old cheap paint job). There is cotton coming out of the seats from its age. It has several dents and dings but is very straight overall.
I don't believe it has ever been in a wreck.
It was started up about 10 years ago and has been parked back inside ever since.

This car was running and driving fine when last driven. It will require whatever sitting idle for that long would dictate... (fresh fuel, tune up, battery, fluids etc.)

Now I will list some of the pluses...

This car is a  very un-molested- low mileage survivor.

I have a clear and open Colorado title for it
as well as the owner and shop manuals.

I also have the original "turbo steering wheel "for it, as well a a few misc. parts.

Although not perfect, this car is not rusty like most, and I think it has a factory undercoating originally.

The floors, trunk, etc, are very nice in my opinion.

My opening bid is $ 2,950 with no reserve.
It has brand new tires and wheels as of about 10 years ago.(but always inside).

This car is 50 years old and just how I received it.
 I am selling it as-is.
I would much rather you plan for the worst and hope for the best than be disapointed in anyway.

I have no doubts that someone more mechanical than myself could have it up and going again in fairly short order.

This car could be a neat daily driver or better yet...be restored back to "like new" again...either way
remember it is an original 1963 "spyder turbo coupe"

I can't imagine finding a nicer or more un-molested or lower- mileage original car like this for the price.

I think whom ever ends up with this car will be elated,.. but those are just my thoughts.
You could say that this one is a real "barn find".

AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction

Sat, Sep 9 2023

Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. GM files for Z71 Trail Boss trademark

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Try as they might to keep their plans a secret, automakers have their hands tipped through a variety of methods – be they through loose lips, spy shots or patent and trademark applications. That's how we know, in this instance, that General Motors is working on (or at least considering) an off-road machine wearing the name Z71 Trail Boss – the name which our compatriots at AutoGuide.com tell us that GM has registered for use on light-duty trucks. Now if that alphanumeric designator sounds familiar, it should. GM has long used it to designate the off-road packages on many of its body-on-frame trucks from Chevy and GMC. These days you can order a Z71 package on the Chevy Colorado, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban and on the GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon. The package typically includes components like a beefed-up suspension bits, high-capacity air cleaner and underbody protection plates. The Trail Boss designator would seem to suggest something further reaching than a suspension package, though. Just what it would entail we don't know; minds immediately start running toward Chevy or GMC going after the Ford F-150 Raptor, but we'll likely be looking at something closer to the Trailhawk packages Jeep offers on the likes of the Renegade and Cherokee. Car and Driver reveals spy shots of mid-engine 2017 Corvette

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Some news in the car world is perennial, and some is perennially wrong. Typically news about some upcoming mid-engined Chevy Corvette has fallen into the latter category, with rumors never yet generating a road car. This time could very well be different. Car and Driver has some exclusive photographs of what would appear to be a Corvette test mule with a mid-mounted engine. The car in question might look like a Holden SSV ute that's undergone some indelicate modification, but C/D editor Don Sherman assures that the bones of a C8 'Vette live within that crude bodywork. Sherman points to the closeness of the cabin to the front axle as clue number one of this car's mid-engine attitude, as well as the powertrain-sized space between the back of the seats and the rear axle. The roof and glasshouse are all clearly plucked from the current C7, and the gas tank filler positioned on the B-pillar is another huge clue. The buff book estimates that the mule points to a timeline for sale, even. Testing on this level could mean a mid-engined C8 ready for sale in as few as 20 months, or for the 2017 model year. Click over to Car and Driver to have a close look at this important set of spy photographs, as well as a rendering of what a finished C8 might ultimately look like
