Not only in its configuration and condition, but in its wonderful story and documentation over the years, it was truly a member of the family. The car is a two owner remaining in the same Washington/South Dakota family ownership until just last year. The car has lived its whole life on the west coast so you know it is as solid as a rock! It recently came out of storage and has been made ready for the open road once again. Don't miss your chance to own a truly beautiful Corvair Greenbriar that will get looks everywhere it goes....Bid Now! The following is a list of options as this Greenbriar is currently equipped: -65hp 145ci 6cyl Engine (Rebuilt) -4 Speed Manual Transmission -Chevrolet Hubcaps w/ Color Matched Steel Wheels -New Radial Tires w/ PortoWalls The body on the car is overall straight and totally solid and rust free. The paint on the car is finished in its original coat of Sierra Gold having absolutely ZERO paintwork over the years. The original owner had the dealer paint the white cove and roof shortly after purchasing the van in 1962 for a cost of $35 at the dealer! I would describe the overall paint as a very nicely kept paint with a few small imperfections and chips, which have been touched up. Remember, this paint is over 50 years old, but looks great going down the street and still has a high shine and luster! The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as any West Coast car should be. Remember this van was only driven in the warm months when the family took it on adventures and was always stored away correctly during the winter. The car is riding on nice, original restored wheels and has new radial tires. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in good original condition and have not been altered since new other than front bumper which was just redone due to a small dent. The interior is in very good shape all around. The seat is in good condition with only minimal ware, which shows the quality of materials used in this car. The previous owner at some point thought about restoring it and contacted SMS fabrics and the original material is still available. The rubber floors are all very nice are not worn or damaged. The dash is like new and looks great. All gauges and controls function as they should. The original AM radio even still works great. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. The rear camper area is flawless and all cabinets are beautiful and all latches and hinges are in excellent condition. The rear bed cushions look freshly redone with new foam and material and nothing is dirty or has any kinds of funny smells or ware. Mechanically, this Greenbriar runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. A lot of time and money was spent under the hood of this little Van. The motor is a fresh rebuild at 64,000 miles and has always been super meticulously maintained. The van starts up and runs like silk. It also is tight as a drum and leaks nothing...extremely rare for a Corvair! Brakes, fuel system, suspension were all done at some point during his 20+ years of ownership. He always did his own work and made sure it was in tip-top shape. Under the hood looks fresh and detailed. The really neat thing about this van is its exceptional original documentation. This Corvair literally has everything that ever came with it including original purchase documents, receipt for engine rebuild, original owners manuals, dealer brochures, accessories booklet, and all necessary original service books to keep this van running great! It also includes all of its original camping equipment right down to the original Coleman cooler, stove, and kerosene lantern! All in all, this is truly one of the coolest Corvair Greenbriars on the road today. Its early vintage sets it apart from all of the others. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners. This is your chance to get a like new classic camper for a fraction of the original cost. The car has a clean Arizona title. Any further questions please call Jon at 480-703-2337. The car is located in Sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]
Wed, Jan 14 2015Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show
Recharge Wrap-up: Renault Zoe recall, Proterra buses log 2M miles
Fri, Mar 25 2016Renault is recalling 10,649 examples of its Zoe electric car for potential brake hose failure. Cars built at the company's Flins factory between the Zoe's 2012 introduction and October 6, 2014 - a quarter of all Zoes ever built - are subject to the recall, though no accidents have been reported from rupturing brake lines. Recalled vehicles will have the brake hose positions inspected and, if need be, fixed. Read more from Reuters. Proposed legislation in Massachusetts would make the state even more EV friendly. While the state already encourages EV adoption with a $2,500 rebate incentive, the new bill would give battery electric vehicle drivers HOV lane access. Additionally it would set up a standard building code for EV chargers, and allow EV-only parking spaces. "With decreased gas prices, a 10 percent increase in vehicle miles traveled over the last 20 years, and a carpool rate below the national average, we must address personal vehicle use directly as part of our transportation emissions reduction strategy," says Rep. Frank Smizik. Read more from Teslarati. The New York Daily News has named the 2016 Chevrolet Volt as its "Green Machine of the Year." Seamless operation, peppiness, and a nice suite of equipment make it a top choice for the publication. "The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is all new, inside and out, and takes the plug-in hybrid segment to another level, thanks to its increased EV range, updated cabin, and more efficient gas-powered engine," writes Daily News Autos writer (and all-around good guy) Nick Kurczewski. Honorable mentions go to the Tesla Model S, BMW i3, Toyota Prius, and the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai. Read more from the Daily News, or at Clean Technica. Proterra electric buses have accumulated 2 million miles of revenue service. That equals 3,800 tons of carbon emissions that have been prevented and 420,000 gallons of fuel unburned. Proterra says it has 63 buses in service in 15 cities, and that it is ramping up production to meet growing demand. "This latest milestone exemplifies the economic, environmental and civic value of electric mass transit," says Proterra CEO Ryan Popple, "and demonstrates to the transit agencies that diesel - often viewed as a necessary evil - is no longer necessary."
