2009 Chevrolet Cobalt Ss Coupe 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Clearwater, Florida, United States
This Cobalt SS was bought from a dealer in Ohio. A father bought it for his daughter for a graduation present and she didn't like it so he returned it. I am the second owner for that reason. When I bought it, it had about 2000 miles on it. I am an ASE certified technician and also L1 certified, I work on vehicles everyday and this car has been maintained and paid attention to meticulously. This car has never been to the track or raced and beat on. It has never been smoked in. It is truly a cherry pie and in great condition all the way. The following is a list of tasteful upgrades the car has. ZZP intake snorkel and KN drop in filter. ZZP catless downpipe, Dejon upper intercooler piping, and heat wrapped. Forge BOV recirc spring for high boost, it has a big ZZP intercooler. Trifecta Tuned, can be switched on the fly with the cruise master on/off button. Peak boost on tune is 24 psi, factory is like 15 psi. The exhaust is cut off by the rear axle, as I had plans for a 3in all the way back but never did it. It sounds great the way it is and very mean, but quiet at idle and part throttle, as turbo is still a muffler in the system. Performance wise it is basically maxed out for a stock turbo. A lower charge pipe will get you nothing and I've tried a cold air on it, and it hates it due to location of mass airflow sensor. The intake isn't a restriction anyway. It's ready for a big turbo upgrade and a heavy clutch with it. You might be able to get some more with an E85 tune but the car rips ass as is, very close or over 300whp. The car shifts smooth, and there are no leaks anywhere. I've replaced the rear brakes already and flushed all brake fluid. Also flushed the dexcool out with good long life coolant and AC Delco sealer. The oil has literally been changed every 2000 miles with Mobil One full synthetic. Only premium fuel has ever been used. I have also changed the plugs three times already experimenting with different ones. It has autolite iridium xps in it. I used to vacuum dust and debris out of engine bay. I'm a lunatic about this car and I want to make clear that whoever gets it is going to get one of the nicest ones you can find with super low mileage. This is not a vehicle for your 16 yr old sons birthday present. Unless hes obnoxious and you cant stand him. An unexperienced young kid WILL wrap it around a telephone pole. I really dont want to get rid of vehicle, but have a new baby and another vehicle and motorcycle. It sits in my garage and gets driven every once and a while. The only thing it will need soon is front pads and rotors. I also have never done the power steering recall on power steering motor, have never had a slight issue with it though ever. If you want to its free at a GM dealer. Even with all the mods the car has no warning lights and will pass an emissions plug in test anywhere as all readiness monitors are set. Will also pass any state inspection requirement. I live on the west coast of Florida. If you're local and want too see it you can, otherwise you will be responsible for shipping and arrangements..When the money hits the paypal account and I pay off the balance at my Credit union the Treasurer will release title to you. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. |

GM seeks national mandate for zero-emissions cars
Fri, Oct 26 2018DETROIT — General Motors says it will ask the federal government for one national gas mileage standard, including a requirement that a percentage of auto companies' sales be zero-emissions vehicles. Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of product development, said the company will propose that a certain percentage of nationwide sales be made up of vehicles that run on electricity or hydrogen fuel cells. GM says a nationwide program modeled on such a requirement in California could result in 7 million electric vehicles, or EVs, on U.S. roads by 2030. California wants 15.4 percent of vehicle sales by 2025 to be EVs or other zero emission vehicles. Nine other states, including Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, have adopted those requirements. In January, California Governor Jerry Brown set a target of 5 million zero-emission vehicles in California by 2030. The Trump administration criticizes California's ZEV mandate, saying it requires automakers to spend tens of billions of dollars developing vehicles that most consumers do not want, only to sell them at a loss. Reuss told reporters that governments and industries in Asia and Europe "are working together to enact policies now to hasten the shift to an all-electric future. It's very simple: America has the opportunity to lead in the technologies of the future." A national mandate also would create jobs and reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and "make EVs more affordable," Reuss added. GM, the nation's largest automaker, will spell out the request Friday in written comments on a Trump administration proposal to roll back Obama-era fuel economy and emissions standards, freezing them at 2020 levels instead of gradually making them tougher. Under a regulation finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency at the end of the Obama administration, the fleet of new automobiles would have to get 36 miles per gallon by 2025, 10 mpg higher than the current requirement. But the Trump administration's preferred plan is to freeze the standards starting in 2021. Administration officials say waiving the tougher fuel efficiency requirements would make vehicles more affordable, which would get safer cars into consumer hands more quickly. GM on Thursday said it doesn't support the freeze, but wants flexibility to deal with consumers' shift from cars to less-efficient SUVs and trucks.
Watch a 2015 Corvette Z06 run the quarter in 11.7 seconds
Sun, Dec 28 2014We're not writing about this because it's an amazing run, we're writing about it because it appears to be the first run. Someone took a 2015 Corvette Z06 to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas and blasted it down through the quarter mile. It's still wearing the dealer number in wax pen on the windshield and dealer plates, so this example is fresh from the mold. It's also a seven-speed manual. General Motors said the row-your-own Z06 can do the 'strip in 11.2 seconds, and they undoubtedly had a professional driver and more than one run to set that time. To have Just Some Guy show up at the raceway and do an 11.7 at 120.54 mph on his first run means we expect good things to come as Z06s get delivered to their owners. Check out the run in the video.
2019 Toyota Avalon vs. full-size sedans: How they compare on paper
Mon, Apr 23 2018Full-size sedans aren't exactly in great demand at the moment, and at least one of the vehicles in this comparison has been rumored to be on the endangered species list. Yet, we've just had our first drive in the 2019 Toyota Avalon, and if anything has a chance of rejuvenating the segment a bit, it's an all-new version of what has long been the segment's benchmark. To see how the new Avalon compares, we've put together the below spreadsheet featuring the Avalon's primary apples-to-apples rivals, the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala. We also included the Nissan Maxima, which is comparable in price, sales and non-luxury badge, and which offers the sort of increased driver engagement promised by the new Avalon XSE and Touring trim levels. We also included the outgoing Avalon for reference as well as that car's luxury cousin, the Lexus ES, which can definitely be cross-shopped with the luxuriously trimmed Avalon Limited. You can use our Compare Cars tool to create your own comparison, such as one featuring the rear-wheel-drive Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger or even Kia Stinger. Alright, enough chit chat. On to the spreadsheet. Performance and fuel economy The GM sedans may come standard with four cylinders, including a mild hybrid system in the LaCrosse, but puh-lease. The V6 is the name of the game in this segment, with outputs now surpassing the 300-horsepower mark. The LaCrosse is the horsepower and torque champ, though it also weighs a bit more than the new 2019 Avalon, so acceleration is likely to be comparable. The Impala weighs a lot more and has only a six-speed automatic, so despite having a wee bit more power, one should expect it to be pokier (not a good sign for a car rumored to be on the chopping block). One would expect the Maxima's 300 hp and lowest curb weight to result in the quickest acceleration, but then it's also strapped to a CVT, which despite being better than ever, is still a CVT. Things get worse for Chevy when you consider the Impala's base four-cylinder gets the same 25 mpg combined as the Avalon's V6 — once again a segment best. Now, should you really prioritize fuel economy, the 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid really stands out with a 43 mpg rating (or 44 with the base XLE trim) that bests the outgoing Avalon Hybrid. Honestly, after driving this new Hybrid, it actually seems like it would be the best bet for most buyers. There's sufficient power, and it only costs $1,000 more than the comparable V6 version.
