This auction is for a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport sedan that my wife used for her daily commute to work for the past five and a half years. This is a great  low-mileage, well-maintained, safe, and fuel-efficient car that is no longer needed since her job situation has changed. She averaged 32 MPG on the highway.

This car was purchased new and is fully loaded featuring a 2.4L DOHC VVT engine, 5-speed manual transmission, sport suspension, electric power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, front airbags and front/rear side airbags, OnStar, SiriusXM radio, 17" polished aluminum wheels, power mirrors, fog lamps, rear spoiler, Pioneer premium audio system, leather seats, cargo net, and power sunroof.

Aftermarket additions include: WeatherTech tinted side window deflectors, Compustar 2-way alarm system with remote start and remote paging system installed by Auto Image, 3M lifetime warranty window tint installed by Auto Image, Lloyd custom fit all-weather floor mats, GM dealer-installed cold air intake, McGard wheel locks, and DC Sports strut tower brace.

Maintenance records available upon request.

Mobil 1 full synthetic engine oil and K&N oil filters used exclusively for oil changes.

Redline D4 synthetic ATF used in manual transaxle.

KYB Excel-G shocks and struts installed at 46,000 miles.

New battery installed 11/18/2012.

New BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport All Season H/V tires installed by Costco at 42,000 miles.

EBC Greenstuff brake pads and EBC Sport slotted rotors installed at 32,000 miles.

This auction also includes the original carpeted floor mats and the original air intake system with filter.

The interior is in like-new condition. The car drives and handles excellent in the snow and rain.

The car was hit once on the driver side front door when it was parked in a parking lot and repaired. It was also hit once in the rear bumper at a stop light. The rear bumper was replaced.

The electric power steering was replaced by Oasis Chevrolet under a recall.

This vehicle is being sold as-is by a private seller with no warranty. Please contact me to make arrangements to see the car in person. Please ask any questions before bidding.

A $500 deposit is required upon winning bid via PayPal. Remaining balance is due within one week of end of auction via cash or certified bank check. Vehicle and title will not be released to buyer until check funds have cleared.

If you use the "Buy It Now" option, I will include a genuine 3-volume factory service manual, a full tank of gas, and I will have the car professionally detailed.

Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?

Sat, Sep 23 2017

If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below. 2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers

Fri, Oct 31 2014

If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. China's rise, global restructuring wither GM's Korea division

Wed, Jan 7 2015

An article in the Daily Kanban suggests the sun is setting on GM Korea, and it could already be well into dusk. GM Korea came about when General Motors, along with co-investors SAIC and Suzuki, bought Daewoo Motors from parent company Daewoo Group in 2001; it had a previous tie-up with GM, a joint venture that ended in 1992, although Daewoo cars were based on GM cars until 1996. Over the decade following the purchase, it became such an important part of operations that it was renamed GM Korea in 2011, "to reflect its heightened status in [the] global operations of GM." Just two years later, the printed rumors were that the subsidiary responsible for a fifth of Chevrolet's global production could be shutting down. The division's sales were down almost 21 percent through November of last year, counting domestic South Korean sales, exports, and CKD – Complete Knock Down – products. That makes the labor strife, already an issue for four years, even more acute, reports say the subsidiary will lose $36 million a year if it can't get the job and wage cuts it wants, and government concessions can't make up for the losses. And it gets worse, so head over to Daily Kanban to read the rest of the story.
