1973 CHEVROLET 454 CHEYENNE 30 "CAMPER SPECIAL" TRUCK WITH OVER CAB CAMPER

LOCKED AWAY IN PRIVATE STORAGE FOR THIRTY YEARS:  ONLY 69000 MILES!

During the 1950s, carpenter/contractor Ralph Jackson, who owned a repair garage and workshop in Culver City, built himself an exquisite 17 foot sport boat so that he could take his sporting young bride, Marjorie, fishing and camping whenever they desired.

For the next twenty-five years, Ralph and Marjorie would take fishing trips in or around California, exploring the best lake and ocean points.

In 1973, Ralph bought a brand new Chevrolet 454 Cheyenne 30 One Ton Camper Special Truck with a slide-in over cab camper shell so that he and Marjory could take extended camping trips together.  Like his boat, Ralph did all of the camper’s interior trim, cupboard, countertop, and cabinet work himself, creating an intimate home away from home for his adoring wife and sporting companion.

Ralph kept both his and his camper truck and sport boat in impeccable condition. He always kept spare filters, fan belts, spark plugs, hoses, motor oil, and numerous other truck and boat parts in his garage workshop so that he could regularly service them himself.  His boat and truck were his passion.

Unfortunately, the camping excursions became fewer as Ralph’s construction and carpentry business took increasingly more of his time and, when her beloved husband died suddenly in 1984; Marjory Jackson sadly covered Ralph’s boat and camper truck with canvas tarps and solemnly locked the doors to her husband’s garage and workshop.  She could not bear to be reminded of their many happy adventures together so she sealed them away and never looked at them again.

For the next thirty years, the boat and camper truck remained unseen, untouched, and forgotten until Marjory herself passed away in 2013. When her estate was settled recently, the doors to Ralph Jackson’s repair garage and workshop were opened for the first time in decades, and the 1959 sport boat and 1973 Chevrolet 454 Camper Truck were brought back out into the light of day.

Everything on the boat and in the camper was just as Ralph and Marjorie left them.  Under layers of dust, both boat and truck remained in excellent condition. Ralph’s hat was on the seat in the cab, Marjory’s was still inside the camper. Sitting inside the truck or camper is literally like stepping back in time.  The service and wiring manuals are still in the cab's center compartment and the original truck sales brochures are sitting on the side board next to the stove and sink

The truck cab is absolutely pristine; the original leather seats and carpeting are intact, no cracks or tears.  The radio plays as if it were brand new.

Inside one of the camper drawers were film slides of the many trips that the Jacksons took together.  Two of the photos of the boat and truck you see here were taken by the Jacksons almost forty years ago.

Because this vehicle has been in storage for three decades, we have replaced the truck batteries, cleaned the carburetor, replaced the points, tuned the engine, and filled the tires with air.

THIS TRUCK STARTS UP AND RUNS BUT NEEDS ADDITIONAL SERVICE INCLUDING NEW TIRES.

We have all ownership documents required for this vehicle in addition to a letter of assignment by the Jackson estate heirs.

Below are more details about this vehicle.  We are not truck experts but contact us for more information, additional photos, or to arrange a personal inspection without any charge or obligation.  We want you to see and appreciate this beauty!

More About The Folks At Props & Wardrobe

Our family has been in the entertainment industry for several generations. During this time, we have acquired countless prop, wardrobe and memorabilia items from film and television studios, production companies, theatrical firms, as well as prop& wardrobe warehouses. We have acquired additional treasures over the years from friends and colleagues in show business and represent the estates of many noted celebrities and entertainment professionals.

Most of our prop and wardrobe items have been well cared for over the years and are in excellent condition for their age. Unfortunately, the expense of storing these items has come prohibitive so we must reduce our collection and, hopefully, attract buyers who will cherish them as we do.

Some of our treasures may have notable celebrity provenances which we are pleased to disclose for your interest and will happily provide a Letter of Authenticity at the Buyer’s request. We extend an unconditional lifetime guarantee for all celebrity-related memorabilia and will provide a full refund for any item that is not as it is represented in our description. We appreciate your trust in our good faith and your satisfaction is our ultimate goal as our impeccable eBay rating indicates!

Good luck and good bidding!

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?

Fri, Jul 21 2017

General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.

Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla sells Model S 85 and 70D in Malaysia, Chevy Spark EV built using clean energy

Mon, May 18 2015

Tesla will send Model S 70D and Model S 85 EVs to Malaysia for leasing to government-linked companies. Only those companies will have access to the models as a two-year lease, which will be imported and leased by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation. The plan is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water to allow government officials and other influential people to get to know the electric vehicles and the benefits that come along with them. Most of the 120 vehicles available will be the 70D model, and the lessee companies will have the option to purchase the cars at the end of the two years. Read more from Paul Tan's Automotive News. Wanxiang is hosting students from Delaware in China as part of a program to learn Mandarin and visit schools and science and technology sites. Wanxiang, the auto parts company that acquired Fisker (which had manufacturing based in Delaware) and battery maker A123 Systems, will give the students tours of its solar technology facilities, among other places, and see what daily life is like for families in the region. The program helps students interested in science and technology to foster marketable skills — like learning a foreign language — that will help them get jobs in industries around the world. The e-motors building of the General Motors Baltimore Operations complex has a new rooftop solar array and uses LED and CFL lighting, helping the building recently earn LEED Silver certification. The landfill-free facility also takes advantage of the 1.23-megawatt solar array on the grounds, helping it source six percent its energy from renewable sources. The plant has reduced its energy intensity by 15.5 percent in three years, and continues to work toward reducing consumption and sourcing clean energy. "We believe reducing our environmental footprint is good for the climate and good for our business," says GM Executive Director of Global Public Policy Greg Martin. Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
