1970 ChevelleSS 454ci 450hp LS6***MATCHING NUMBERS*** Yes, you read that correct. This is a COMPLETE matching numbers 1970 LS6 chevelle. By complete matching numbers I mean the car has its ORIGINAL CRV stamped matching numbers 454 LS6 motor it was born with, its original numbers matching M22 4 speed transmission, and the original 12 bolt rear end with 3.31 posi gear. For those of you who know what a rare bird this is, feel free to skip over the introduction of the monster that is the 1970 Chevelle SS 454ci 450hp LS6. The LS6 engine option was intended to continue on as an option in 1971, but was dropped prior to being put in any 1971 Chevelle models. Reports state that the LS6 option was available on 1971 models but was canceled in May of that year, with just 14 LS6 engines having been produced for the Chevelle that never made it into factory cars. It is because of this that the 1970 LS6-equipped cars are that much more intriguing and collectible still to this day. Documented as one of the greatest Chevelles ever produced, the 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 model was the highest powered Chevelle manufactured in the model’s lifetime, which ran from 1964 through 1977, and was the only GM car at the time to have ever topped the horsepower rating of the Corvette. Even with up to a reported 4,475 LS6 models said to have left the factory floor for the 1970 model year (reported production numbers are inconsistent at best), LS6 Chevelles remain highly sought-after collectors items. EObviously with being the king of the street and having a power plant producing factory rated 450hp and 500lbs of torque (many believe the real power was in excess of 500hp) a good deal of the very few of these produced were blown up, smashed, crashed, beat to death on the strip, and left to die. Of the survivors, VERY few are matching numbers. That being the case, recent sales of this model chevelle in the past 12 months has ranged in the $110,000-$130,000 range. Only 136 matching numbers chevelles are in the LS6 registry! What does that say about the availability of one of these? And the market is making a strong rebound with classic auto and muscle car values and prices again on the rise. So, about this specific car... Again, this is an honest numbers matching LS6 with a 4 speed manual trans, 3.31 posi rear end (posi was an option on ls6 optioned chevelles with a gear ratio below 4.10 and mandatory on cars equipped with the 4.10). Highly optioned, this car comes with a factory tach and highly desirable bucket seats. It has a pin down hood, functional cowl induction with a flap that automatically opens to draw in high pressure air in front of the windshield and force it into the carb, power brakes, power steering, and upgraded suspension that was mandatory to get the ls6 motor. Just the required options (non inclusive of the posi, bucket seats, and tach) that had to be purchased to add the ls6 motor added something like $1800.00 to the sticker back in 1970. Laser straight, this car has just under 88,000 original miles, and only 458 since its complete frame off restoration. The body is all original, free of rust issues, not loaded with bondo, and looks as good today as it did in 1970. Beautiful chrome and bright work. This car does not leak, smoke, rattle, or burn oil. The undercarriage is just as clean as the top, and the interior is like brand new. This is not a project vehicle, not a tribute car, not a recreation, hasn't been restamped, and doesn't need to be wrenched on. She sits now just as she did in 1970 wearing forest green paint, white ss stripes, dark green metallic interior, ss steering wheel, F41 special performance suspension, disc brakes up front, drum in the rear, 454 ls6, 4 bolt main, solid lifter cam, dual plane aluminum intake, 800cfm holly carb, forged steel crank, forged steel connecting rods, aluminum pistons, high flow heads, it is a muscle car collectors dream....Want the best and baddest car at the show? Want a car only a lucky few have been privileged to own, drive, heck not too many people even get the chance to see these other than on TV or in magazines. This is a car similar to that of a yenko or copo and certainly wouldn't have a hard time drawing a crowd wherever you may take it. She runs and drives excellent, and fires right up when the key is turned. Full size wheel and tire in the trunk along with factory jack. I could truly go on and on about the car, what it is, what it means to me and collectors alike, how rare and special it is....but at some point I must stop typing and allow you to see the beauty in the 200+ photos.

Frustrated GM investors ask what more Mary Barra can do

Mon, Oct 22 2018

DETROIT — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra has transformed the No. 1 U.S. automaker in her almost five years in charge, but that is still not enough to satisfy investors. Ahead of third-quarter results due on Oct. 31, GM shares are trading about 6 percent below the $33 per share price at which they launched in 2010 in a post-bankruptcy initial public offering. The Detroit carmaker's stock is down 22 percent since Barra took over in January 2014. After hitting an all-time high of $46.48 on Oct. 24, 2017, the shares have declined 33 percent. In the same period, the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 7.8 percent. Several shareholders contacted by Reuters said GM could face a third major action by activist shareholders in less than four years if the share price does not improve. "I've been expecting it," said John Levin, chairman of Levin Capital Strategies. "It just seems a tempting morsel to somebody." Levin's firm owns more than seven million GM shares. Barra has guided the company through the settlement of a federal criminal probe of a mishandled safety recall, sold off money-losing European operations, and returned $25 billion to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks from 2012 through 2017. GM declined to comment for this story, but the company's executives privately express frustration with the market's reluctance to see it as anything more than a manufacturer tied mainly to auto market sales cycles. GM's profitable North American truck and SUV business and its money-making China operations are valued at just $14 billion, excluding the value of GM's stake in its $14.6 billion Cruise automated vehicle business and its cash reserves from its $44 billion market capitalization. The recent slump in the Chinese market, GM's largest, and plateauing U.S. demand are ratcheting up the pressure. GM is one of the few global automakers without a founding family or a government to serve as a bulwark against corporate raiders. In 2015, a group led by investor Harry Wilson pressed GM to launch a $5 billion share buyback, and commit to what is now an $18 billion ceiling on the level of cash the company would hold. In 2017, GM fended off a call by hedge fund manager David Einhorn to split its common stock shares into two classes. Einhorn, whose firm still owned more than 21 million shares at the end of June, declined to comment about GM's stock price. Other investors said there were no clear alternatives to Barra's approach.

GM recalling 316k vehicles due to headlamp faults

Mon, Dec 1 2014

General Motors has announced a recall covering 316,357 vehicles globally, due to the possibility of sporadic or permanent failure of the low-beam headlamps. 273,182 of these vehicles are in the United States, while the remaining affected units are in Canada, Mexico, and elsewhere. This recall includes the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse (pictured above), 2006-07 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT, 2006-07 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL, 2006-07 Buick Rainier, 2006-08 Saab 9-7X, and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. In an email sent to Autoblog, General Motors explains that if the headlamp driver modules are not functioning correctly, "the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could intermittently or permanently fail to illuminate." GM states that this problem does not affect things like high-beams, turn signals, marker lamps, or foglamps. As of this writing, GM states it "has not been able to confirm whether the HDMs in these vehicles caused any vehicle accidents." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been notified, but the recall has not yet posted to the government agency's website. Scroll down to read the full details in GM's email. General Motors is recalling 273,182 Buick LaCrosse sedans and Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Saab and Isuzu midsize SUVs in the U.S. for possible intermittent or permanent loss of low beam headlamps. Affected models are: 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse sedans; 2006-2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer and 2006 TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X and 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender midsize SUVs. If the headlamp driver modules is not operating correctly, the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could intermittently or permanently fail to illuminate. This condition does not affect the high-beam headlamps, marker lamps, turn signals, or fog lamps. GM has not been able to confirm whether the HDMs in these vehicles caused any vehicle accidents. The total population, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico and exports from North America is 316,357. The NHTSA was sent the Part 573 information for this recall on November 25. It has not yet posted to the NHTSA website. Chevy Cruze CNG available from Crazy Diamond Performance

Thu, Aug 7 2014

Anyone out there who can somehow find a second way to link Pink Floyd to natural gas vehicles gets a prize. Because so far, we have one Michigan-based company called Crazy Diamond Performance (Shine On You Crazy Diamond being a longtime Floyd fave) that's setting out to convert Chevrolet Cruze vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). All in the name of cheaper fuel and domestic security, of course. Crazy Diamond says it can offer a converted CNG-powered Chevy Cruze for a price as low as $26,000. That four-cylinder version has 130 horsepower and an 8.5-gasoline-gallon-equivalent capacity that provides a full-tank range of as many as 250 miles. Pony up another $2,000 or so and the peppier, turbocharged CNG Cruze can be yours. The company says it will provide a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and is trying to get EPA certification for its conversions. The selling points are cheaper fuel (CNG is about half the cost of regular gasoline in some parts of the country) and homeland security (CNG reduces dependence on foreign oil). The only production passenger vehicle CNG in the US is the Honda Civic CNG, which sells in very limited numbers. Check out Crazy Diamond's flyer here.
