For sale is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. This car was originally a 396 Automatic on the column, 12 bolt rearend car, with the F41 suspension, power steering, power disk brakes and factory bucket seats. It came from Southern Missouri, where it lived for most of it's life. It was an old hot rod for years, and then it sat for many years. It has a built stroker bigblock engine in it now with a 400 turbo transmission. The bigblock, the msd ignition and the tach in the car will not be sold with the car. I will leave it all together until sold so you can see it is a good driving car, then I will take the engine out. This is a really good Chevelle to finish. It has all new brakes and break lines. The 12 bolt has been completely redone, with a new posi, gears and axles. It has brand new 3" Flowmaster exhaust. It has a new One piece trunk pan, new front floors, and new floors under the rear seat. I have all the receipts for all the work I have done on this car. The floors need finished inside and under the car, to be perfect. The frame is very nice frame, it has one little problem (see pictures) under the driver side of the cowl. This car drives and stops very nice. The headlights, tail lights, and turn signals all work on the car. The windows all roll up and down nicely. I would be more than glad to show the car to you before the auction ends. The interior needs to be redone. I have a rear seat that goes with the car, its in poor shape but will go with the car. I have a front bumper that goes with the car. It needs a trunk lid and a driver front fender. All in all this is a good car that you can finish the way you want to. I have the right to end the auction at anytime for any reason. Please bid only if you are a serious buyer. I will only sell this car cash in person, or if you want to send a money order or certified check, then after it clears then you can take the car. Please call me with any questions at 515-210-2708. Thank you and good luck.

C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey
Mon, 25 Feb 2013If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.
LG Chem's troubled Chevy Volt battery plant hiring once again
Thu, Sep 25 2014The Michigan battery plant known for paying its workers to do nothing has turned things around and is now hiring more workers, specifically to do something. South Korea-based LG Chem, which runs the factory to supply the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle with its lithium-ion batteries, held a job fair recently to bring on 40 new employees in order to meet higher battery demand, according to WZZM, the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, MI. The LG Chem factory is in Holland, MI, about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids, and it made its first batteries last year. Prior to that, though, the factory gained notoriety after a US Department of Energy (DOE) probe found that workers there were getting paid to do, well, nothing. That's because demand for the battery packs was so low that it cost less for the plant to sit idle. The DOE was conducting the probe because of its financial grant to LG Chem. But that was then and today is today. LG Chem is looking to ramp up production in advance of the second-generation Volt. That 2016 model-year version is said to have a longer all-electric range and better performance and will ride on a new chassis, but few official details have surfaced. We will know more when we get our first look at the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
GM's European Opel division may eventually go all-electric
Wed, Feb 15 2017General Motors' Opel division in Europe may transform itself into an all-electric vehicle maker by 2030. Granted, a lot can happen between now and then, including a potential buyout by French automaker PSA Group. Regardless, Opel appears to view its electric future beyond the Ampera-e, which is the sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Bolt, and more like Tesla. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann indicated that focusing on electric drivetrains would be a superior strategy to expanding its EV technology while pushing forward with conventional drivetrains, says Automotive News Europe, citing comments Neumann made to German publication Manager Magazin. General Motors could make the decision to move towards an all-electric vehicle line for Opel as soon as May. Of course, that depends on whether Opel is bought out by PSA, the parent country to Peugeot and Citroen. PSA is in talks to buy General Motors' Opel and Vauxhall divisions, though government and labor representatives in Germany have expressed concerns over potential job losses from the proposed buyout, Reuters says. Regardless, GM has hinted at expanding its electric-vehicle line far beyond the Bolt, which has a 238-mile single-charge range and debuted late last year. Mary Barra, in an interview with CNET, said the Bolt's all-electric platform could be applied to a "huge range of vehicles," though wasn't specific about additional EV models. Opel first showed off its Ampera-e at the Paris Motor Show last fall. The name of the model raised some eyebrows because the Ampera badge had been previously used by Opel for the sister version of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in. Either way, Opel is looking to take on Renault for electric-vehicle sales supremacy across the Pond. Related Video:
