Reluctantly putting this one up for sale.  I've owned for 8+ years, previous owner had it for about 10 or so years, all were garaged in Texas.  I believe that all metal is original, this is a solid rust free Texas car.  Runs and drives great, get in and go (FAST).  Clear Texas Title in my name.  Have a couple of high dollar projects in the works, so selling a few cars to help raise the cash please see my other auctions.

400 Small Block destroked to 377, 4 bolt, 7 quart pan, 2.02 valves, steel crank and rods, arp rod bolts, Pete Jackson gear drive, TRW forged pistons, Holley single plane Street Dominator intake, Holley 4160 Carb (driver), Comp Cam magnum 292, Harlen Sharp roller rockers, poly motor mounts, 12 bolt 3.73 rear, front disk brake conversion, lakewood ladder bars, boxed in rear arms, 4 core alumn radiator, turbo 400 with ultra bell housing, 8 point roll cage, B&M shifter.

NOS 250HP installed but NEVER used.  You will need to upgrade the carb from the "driver" 4160 to a 850dp or something along those lines to use the Nitrous.

Front seats are out of a 1969 442 (I think) and need recovering, original covers are brittle and torn.  I have brand new unopened PUI 1969 seat covers for them that I can include for $260 adder to sale price.  I also have a brand new gas tank and sending unit for a $125 adder to the sale price, and an aftermarket gauge cluster housing (no gauges) I can include for a $99 adder to the sale price.  I will include the original rear seat, although it does not fit with the NOS bottle and cage installed at this time.

The Nitto tires and rims are like new, Rears have maybe 100 miles on them tops.  I have driven this car on 2 hour trips with no problems, has never broken down or stranded me.  Car has blue neon lights inside and under the car which illuminate the NOS bottle and car very cool.  Obviously these can be taken off easily, but they do look good at night.

Please note that I will be removing the MSD 6A and timing box, it is not hooked up at this time and I need it for another car.

The problems that I know about are:  The Tach is not hooked up, the passenger window rolls up but stops about 3 inches from the top, you physically have to pull it up to finish closing it, I do not think the wipers work if memory serves me correctly, the driver side back window fell of its tracks you can still get it up but you have to do so manually moving it while cranking, the hood closes but the springs are old and you have to push the hood down at the cowl after it is closed to look 100% closed - not a big deal but again no surprises, engine starts right up but choke is not set up so you have to warm it up for 30 seconds or so on a cold start.  Exhause is a little loud, but not abnoxious.  Runs and drives fast - lots of fun, NO hesitation or anything like that, no surprises this is a get in and go car.

Car would look awesome with a little time and money, again I hate to part ways with her but just one of those things.  I am an honest Ebay and expect the same from a potential buyer.  Car is for sale locally I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.  International bidders are welcome as I have sold a few toys in the past worldwide, please read my feedback on other Classic Cars and motorcycles I have sold over the years. Thanks and good luck!

I do have a set of rims and tires Rally style for a more original look if you are interested.  Contact me with a question on price, we can work out a revised Buy it Now price according to me keeping the Old Schools and Nittos.  Thanks for the question,

Chevy's 6.6-liter Duramax is pretty much all new

Thu, Sep 29 2016

To say there's a heated battle in heavy-duty pickups is an understatement, with Chevrolet, Ford, and Ram constantly trading blows of increased torque, horsepower, and towing capacity. The latest salvo is the revised, more powerful turbo diesel 6.6-liter Duramax V8 in the 2017 Chevy Silverado. It has 910 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 145, putting it nearly level with the Ford Super Duty. Here's a closer look at where those gains come from. How exactly did Chevrolet add all that torque plus 48 horsepower? The automaker essentially took a fine-tooth comb to the entire engine. Chevy says it changed 90 percent of the V8, and the cumulative effect of those small changes adds up to big increases. As you might guess, the turbocharger is updated. The larger unit features electric actuation of the variable nozzle turbine (VNT), and what Chevy calls a double axle cartridge mechanism that separates the VNT moving parts from the housing. That helps with heat performance as well, with a claim that the exhaust side of the turbo can run continuously up to 1,436 degrees Fahrenheit. Helping that cause are six exhaust gaskets made of Inconel - an nickel alloy that contains chromium and iron – and upgraded stainless steel for the exhaust manifold. Despite having the same cast iron cylinder block, albeit with some minor enhancements, the engine has new cylinder heads, pistons, piston pins, connecting rods, and crankshaft, which have all been upgraded to handle 20 percent higher cylinder pressures. Alongside the increase in pressure, Chevrolet also increased the cylinder head's structure with a honeycomb design. The pattern features high-strength aluminum with dual layer water jackets that not only improve strength, but also optimize water flow for better cooling. For 2017, the cylinder head also benefits from integrated plenum that aids the engine in getting more air under heavy loads. The cylinder head isn't the only component to get a minor update, as the pistons have a larger diameter pin for improved oil flow. The same detailed improvements has been bestowed to the humble connecting rods (second in our hearts only to the inanimate carbon rod). The new design has the bolts oriented roughly 45-degrees to the rod instead of parallel. The angle split design, as it's called allows for easier passage through the cylinder.

How long will the 'golden age' of performance last?

Sat, Mar 26 2016

High-powered sports and luxury cars were everywhere at the New York Auto Show, prompting the obvious question for enthusiasts: How long will this golden age of performance last? Industry leaders have some time before regulations elevate the Corporate Average Fuel Economy level in 2025. Even then, they expect cars rippling with power to survive in some form. "Is it the end of an era," I don't think so," said Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG board member for Mercedes-Benz cars marketing and sales. "That performance element of individual mobility I don't think will ever go away." Kallenius, who oversaw the company's AMG division from 2010-2013, expects it to continue to grow. Last year, AMG sold a record 68,875 units around the world, an increase of 44.6 percent over 2014, with strong growth in the US, China, and Germany. Still, there's always the potential for gas to spike, and pending fuel economy regulations are looming. That could lead AMG to add electrification to its products, Kallenius said, pointing to the electric SLS as a test case. Chevy is also thinking ahead, said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro. He wouldn't bite when asked about electrification for the Camaro (he did say "never say never"), but admitted in 2025 "it's going to be pretty tough to sell V8s." For now, things are rosy for muscle cars, and Chevy confidently showcased the 640-hp Camaro ZL1 in coupe and convertible form in New York. "I think that this is truly the golden age of performance," Oppenheiser said. It's hard to disagree. News & Analysis News: The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF was a show-stopper in New York. Analysis: There was a palpable energy when this RF — for Retractable Fastback — was revealed the night before the show at a trendy off-site venue near the Hudson River. Even as a parade of SUVs and flashy luxury cars rolled out the rest of the week, the Miata remained a hot topic. The Retractable Fastback is really a clever targa top, with part of the roof stowing behind the seats, adding about 100 pounds compared to the standard convertible. It makes the car more practical and arguably more attractive. The RF continues Mazda's tradition of selling the Miata with a hardtop variant. The first and second generations offered a detachable one, and a power retractable hardtop (a $1,700 option) was available on third-gen models. Judging by its reception in New York, the RF could prove to be even more popular than its predecessors.

Meet the mother-daughter team that's worked on almost every Chevy Volt

Sun, May 11 2014

It's Mother's Day, and we're soft enough we love our mothers enough to share a new video from General Motors with you. In it, we meet Monique Watson (left) and Evetta Osbourne, a mother-daughter team that works at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly where GM makes the Chevy Volt (along with all of GM's other plug-in hybrids: the Opel Ampera, Holden Volt and Cadillac ELR). The two work side-by-side and have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on almost all of those vehicles - nearly 80,000 of them - since GM started making the pre-production Volts in 2009. In a prepared statement, Watson said that she likes working next to her mom, day in and day out, and they the two are totally in sync when it comes to putting the 400-pound, 16.5-kWh packs into the vehicle undersides. They two can also share stories throughout the day, and Watson said, "The arrangement has absolutely improved our relationship." Osborne started working at Detroit-Hamtramck in 1999, Watson since 2006. If you're driving a Volt today, you probably have them to thank for doing a bit of the work putting your car together. See a short video of them in action below. It's Always Mother's Day for Detroit-Hamtramck Duo Mother, daughter install lithium-ion battery pack in nearly all GM electric vehicles 2014-05-08 DETROIT – For Detroit resident Evetta Osborne, every day is Mother's Day. That's because she literally works side by side with her daughter, Monique Watson, at General Motors' Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. They have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on nearly every Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Holden Volt, and Cadillac ELR since production began. In fact, apart from vacation days and an occasional sick day, the mother-daughter duo has installed almost every battery pack since the Volt was in pre-production in 2009. The ELR launched earlier this year. All told – including Ampera – that's more than 80,000 electric vehicles. "We're a good team and our relationship is secondary when it comes to performing our jobs – but it's great to work alongside my daughter, said Osborne, a mother of five. Because the battery packs weigh more than 400 pounds each, automatic guided vehicles – robotic carts that use sensors to follow a path through the plant – deliver them just as the vehicle body structures glide into position overhead. The carts then lift the T-shaped packs, and Osborne and Watson guide them into the chassis and secure each one with 24 fasteners.
