1967 Chevelle Malibu Ss Tribute California Car on 2040-cars
Loomis, California, United States
Listing this car for a friend. I have sold three of his other cars here successfully, with happy buyers. (1970 Chevelle, LS6 clone, 1955 Chevy Gasser, 1935 Chevy Sedan) The car started out as a solid everyday driver that was purchased by the current owner here in the Sacramento area. The car was sold new in L.A. All documentation including pop is included with car. Original black plates that are still on the car, (No extra annual fees to DMV for keeping these plates). High quality body and paint work was performed to make the body better than new. The panel behind the back window required replacement and now is rust free. There are however some small holes under the trunk mat that are still present so some further small patches will be required. I will take pictures of this area and post them. The rest of the car is rust free. New vinyl top, and the roof was in great shape, no rot or soft spots there. The only filler in this car was the final skim coat, most of which was sanded off, which resulted in a very straight, dare I say it, laser straight body. It really was block sanded to perfection, super straight. Great panel alignment. Most rubber has been replaced, doors, trunk, etc. New black upholstery, original headliner in great shape. Original 1967 bucket seats with correct covers replace the bench that came with the car to fit the SS theme and an original SS console has been added. Car has also been upgraded to disc brakes up front with 2"dropped spindles. Out back is the original 10 bolt rear end. The 396 is fresh with a mild cam and is bored to 402 cubic inches and is backed by a fresh Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission and torque converter. New wheels and tires round out the package. Tires are new BF Goodrich not bargain basement Chinese tires. Bumpers are original GM issue and are showing some age but still presentable. This car has just been finished and has not been out in public anywhere. The owner loves the build and is currently building four other cars so he wants to let this one out of his stable. We can assist with shipping, but the cost will be born by the buyer. You can contact the seller directly at jimbowine@sbcglobal.net or 916-869-6371. The next car that will probably be available is a 1971 Barracuda AAR 340 Six Pac 4 speed.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]
Fri, 25 Jan 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Leak reveals GM's 2017 heavy duty diesel trucks to get 910 lb-ft of torque [UPDATE]
Tue, Sep 27 2016UPDATE: Chevrolet officially announced specs for the 2017 Silverado HD and the rumors were true. The truck's new Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 puts out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet says the new motor produces 19 percent more torque and 12 percent more horsepower, while producing 35 percent fewer emissions. Overall, the new engine is a big improvement over the current motor, which generates 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque. According to Truck Trend, GM's newest heavy duty pickup trucks will pick up quite a bit more power and torque. The publication spotted a recent GM Powertrain ordering catalog that had the engine specs for the 2017 model year and managed to get some screenshots before the catalog was taken down, and they can be viewed here. The screenshots revealed that the 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 powering the Silverado and Sierra heavy duty models will boast 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This is a substantial gain over the current models' 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, and as Truck Trend points out, it exceeds the Ford Super Duty line's horsepower output of 440, but comes short of the 925 lb-ft rating. Truck Trend credits part of this output gain to the new intake system GM will introduce on the 2017 heavy duties. The intake gets 60 percent of its air from a scoop on the hood, with the other 40 percent coming from behind one of the front fenders. GM doesn't reveal horsepower figures in the press release about the scoop, but it does say the cooler air helps with maintaining the engine's output, and that the scoop does produce a ram-air affect, providing more air at speed. As we know, more air plus more fuel equals more power, but there's likely more to the power increase in this engine than only the intake.
