My girlfriend and I just moved to Portland from Illinois and we will only need one car. We also have a newer Honda Accord, so this Cavalier is no longer needed. This car has a clean title, but it has not been registered in Oregon and it has not undergone emissions testing because we planned to sell it once we arrived. The car showed no problems on the 3000+ mile trip and is in good working condition, but it has a few cosmetic flaws which I will list here:

Cracked Windshield - the crack goes completely across windshield. The car is certainly drive-able this way, but it isn't pretty. I was quoted $250 in town to fix it, so I've factored that into the price.

Gauges: The gauges do not always read the correct values. This is a common problem with cavaliers. I've had three and they have all done this. However, the check engine light is not on. The key is just turned to accessory, so all of the gauges are lit.

Paint Chips and Dings - there is a ding in the driver's side door and paint is chipping around the gas door. Also, there is a paint scrape on the rear left bumper.

Dash - there are a few small cracks in the dash up close to the windshield. This is common on these cavaliers, but not very noticeable.

Back Tint - The back tint is bubbled. It can certainly be removed, but would better to be replaced. Again, this is only cosmetic, but I felt like it should be mentioned.

Brake Pads - The brakes were replaced fairly recently, but we did just make a long trip through the mountains and across the midwest, so I assume that it will need new pads soon.

Now the good parts:

Aftermarket Stereo w/ Bluetooth, USB, and iPod connectivity-
I put this stereo in two weeks before we moved, so it is about 2 months old. It works great with my Samsung Galaxy 5 using Spotify over Bluetooth. It also has a port for USB thumb drives or iPod cables, a 1/8 inch audio jack, and supports Pandora radio or IHeartRadio. New stereo was ~$250

New Tires - It has 4 new Goodyear tires w/ ~4000 miles. They were replaced the week before the trip.

Newer Fuel Pump - The fuel pump was replaced within the last 2 years.

Non-Smoker - The car HAS BEEN SMOKED IN occasionally, but I am not a smoker and the car has been treated to remove any smells.

Clean Interior - The interior has been detailed and treated with ozone to remove smells and Folex to remove most stains. However, its got 9 years of wear on it so you will see minor scratches and a small rip in the driver seat in the typical places.

Thanks for looking,

Zephad

Recharge Wrap-up: EVs poll well in Portland, Tesla seeks office space

Tue, Aug 5 2014

In a poll of drivers in Portland, more than 80 percent said they would be driving an EV in the next 10 years if they weren't already. The poll was small and not scientific, with just 218 votes cast, but it does reflect a slice of a certain population with changing attitudes toward electric mobility, and 80 percent is an impressive figure. Additionally, 43 percent of respondents planned to have an EV in the next five years, and only 18 percent said they prefer gasoline-powered vehicles. With EVs in many ways repeating the adoption process that hybrids went through a decade ago, the five- or ten-year timeframe for more widespread use seems only natural. Read more at the Portland Business Journal. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee parks like an idiot, or rather, his security detail does. His Chevrolet Volt has been ticketed for parking six times since he took office. Granted, those street-sweeping signs are tough to keep track of, but his car has been photographed blocking at a bus stop while grabbing a burrito (who hasn't sinned in the name of a delicious burrito?), and was even caught parked in a crosswalk. The tickets were all dismissed. Read more from the SF Gate. Tesla is looking for office space in Silicon Valley. As the electric car company continues to search for a place to build its $4- to $5-billion battery Gigafactory, it also needs some real estate to expand its operations near its Palo Alto home. Tesla has expanded from 3,000 to 6,000 California-based employees since the end of 2012, and plans to add 500 more by the end of the year. It is currently looking for 200,000 to 300,000 square feet of office space close to its Fremont factory, according to sources in the real estate industry. 2020 Chevy Trax and Buick Encore spied testing

Tue, Aug 14 2018

We just recently saw a little crossover SUV from General Motors being tested, and we weren't positive what brand it belonged to. We narrowed it down to Chevy or GMC, but we're feeling more confident that it's a GMC now, since both the next generation Chevy Trax and Buick Encore subcompact crossover SUVs have been spied testing together. Of the two, the Chevy has the more radically different sheet metal. It ditches the somewhat frumpy, lumpy shape of the current Trax for a body inspired by the bigger Chevy Blazer. The roofline has sharp corners, and the hood is wide and flat. The front fascia, though obscured, shows the most connection to the bigger crossover. It has the same split headlight configuration, and it looks as though the grille takes up a sizable section of the fascia. View 7 Photos The Buick Encore on the other hand looks evolutionary in design. The body still has plenty of curves, and the distinctive, sharply rising window sill are all hallmarks of the current Encore design. The headlights and grille are similar, too, though the grille appears to be slightly updated to fit in with the Enclave and Regal. It's understandable that Buick might want to play it safe with the new Encore, since the model is Buick's best seller, selling about 23,000 units in the last quarter, nearly twice that of the next best performer, the Enclave. Since this is the first time we've seen these little crossovers, we expect it will still be a year or two before we get to see them fully revealed. They will probably continue to use small-displacement turbocharged four-cylinder engines with either front- or all-wheel drive. Related Video:

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose!
