This Chevy Cavalier is in fair condition and runs.  Could be a good weekend car for a student or high-schooler.  I've had this car since I was 16, so it hasn't changed hands at all in the last seven years.  Realistically, although I hope this car goes to a good home, I realize that sometimes Cavaliers are sought after for parts as well.  I'm selling the car because I'm moving across the country and won't need it anymore.

The Kelly Blue Book value on a vehicle in this condition is $939.  Fair condition includes a couple minor issues this Cavalier has: there is a slow oil leak, but the vehicle has NOT been treated with coagulants (as we know some owners prefer not to use them) which may solve the issue.  The third brake light (the one in the middle) has a short in it, but this is not one of the brake lights that is legally required to function in order for the car to be driven (all the lights that are required to function work just fine).  The frame is rusted  (in addition to some cosmetic rust damage) and there are several dents.   We don't know if the car will pass emissions, as Indiana does not require us to do that.  The ignition has never failed to come on so far, but it sometimes requires two or three turns of the key.  In addition to the rust on the frame, there is some rust on the underbody as well.   The car is being sold as-is with no guarantees, but has been driven 100 miles from Indianapolis to St. Louis several times this year with no problems.

All that having been said, the car runs and will get you from A to B.

The car was purchased from Crown Auto Brokers in 2004.  I purchased it from that buyer in 2006.
The radiator and radiator hoses were replaced with more durable metal parts in 2007.
The alternator was replaced in 2011.
The car passed a safety inspection in 2012, although the frame being rusted was noted.

Again, I can confirm that the car runs - I just drove it today.  I really hope it goes to someone who will enjoy it as much as I did!

Sincerely,
Caitlin (the owner)

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."
