1989 Chevy Cavalier Z24 Convertible on 2040-cars
Kieler, Wisconsin, United States
Mechanic Special:
Up for auction is a 1989 Chevy Cavalier Z24 Convertible. Exterior is red and interior is gray cloth. The car ran great until we took it out of storage after the winter. The car starts but when we go to drive it, it will turn off. It will restart again but you have to wait a few minutes. We replaced the rear shocks, put in a new map sensor, new spark plugs, and a new thermostat. We do not have the money to take it a mechanic to figure out what is wrong with it so that is why we are listing it on here. The windows do roll down but they go up and down a little slow. The top is in great shape, there is a small amount of rust on the back wheel well and on the passenger side door. It does not currently have a stereo. We had a new system put in it after we bought it but took it out to sell the car. If you would like to stereo system with the car it will be an extra $500.00 on top of the amount you purchase the car for and we can re-install it before you pick up the vehicle. Stereo information below: Kenwood KDC-X396 Single Din In-Dash Car Stereo CD Receiver with System Q Sound Control and IPod/IPhone Direct Control via USB Input, 6x9 JL Audio C2 real speakers as well as 3 1/2 inch front speakers. We paid over $600.00 for the systemThe car's original motor was a 2.8 V6 but was replaced with a 3.1 before we purchased it. The 3.1 is believed to have come from a 1991 cavalier. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. We are selling the car as-is. Free local pick up only, you will need a trailer to haul home. If you want the car shipped it is your responsibility after payment has been made in full you can have someone pick up the car for you. |

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts
Wed, 27 Feb 2013There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
MotorWeek looks back at 1995 Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon
Sat, Jun 20 2015MotorWeek's Retro Review series gives us a nostalgic look back at some of the best sports cars and luxury sedans available in the 1980s and '90s. For its latest clip, the show shifts gears to remember the 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Similar to the success of crossovers today, SUVs were tallying big sales and making big money for automakers in the mid-'90s. The Tahoe and Yukon filled slots in the market as steps down from the larger Suburban. These twins weren't wanting for space, though, with plenty of room to haul around a family. MotorWeek came away generally impressed too, and called the models some "of the better riding sport utilities we've ever experienced." This review comes with some jazzy, electric guitar licks to enjoy in the background.
Recharge Wrap-up: Renault Zoe recall, Proterra buses log 2M miles
Fri, Mar 25 2016Renault is recalling 10,649 examples of its Zoe electric car for potential brake hose failure. Cars built at the company's Flins factory between the Zoe's 2012 introduction and October 6, 2014 - a quarter of all Zoes ever built - are subject to the recall, though no accidents have been reported from rupturing brake lines. Recalled vehicles will have the brake hose positions inspected and, if need be, fixed. Read more from Reuters. Proposed legislation in Massachusetts would make the state even more EV friendly. While the state already encourages EV adoption with a $2,500 rebate incentive, the new bill would give battery electric vehicle drivers HOV lane access. Additionally it would set up a standard building code for EV chargers, and allow EV-only parking spaces. "With decreased gas prices, a 10 percent increase in vehicle miles traveled over the last 20 years, and a carpool rate below the national average, we must address personal vehicle use directly as part of our transportation emissions reduction strategy," says Rep. Frank Smizik. Read more from Teslarati. The New York Daily News has named the 2016 Chevrolet Volt as its "Green Machine of the Year." Seamless operation, peppiness, and a nice suite of equipment make it a top choice for the publication. "The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is all new, inside and out, and takes the plug-in hybrid segment to another level, thanks to its increased EV range, updated cabin, and more efficient gas-powered engine," writes Daily News Autos writer (and all-around good guy) Nick Kurczewski. Honorable mentions go to the Tesla Model S, BMW i3, Toyota Prius, and the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai. Read more from the Daily News, or at Clean Technica. Proterra electric buses have accumulated 2 million miles of revenue service. That equals 3,800 tons of carbon emissions that have been prevented and 420,000 gallons of fuel unburned. Proterra says it has 63 buses in service in 15 cities, and that it is ramping up production to meet growing demand. "This latest milestone exemplifies the economic, environmental and civic value of electric mass transit," says Proterra CEO Ryan Popple, "and demonstrates to the transit agencies that diesel - often viewed as a necessary evil - is no longer necessary."
