1996 Chevy Caprice Classic (9c1) Lt1 on 2040-cars
Barrington, Illinois, United States
This is a 1996 Chevy Caprice 9C1. It was originally a municipal vehicle in Elk Grove Village. I am selling it as is. It has the LT1 350 5.7 V8 motor. Power locks works. Trunk pops. This has been my daily driver for almost 5 years. It runs and drives well. It will be a great car for someone that will care for it. I am the second owner.
Things that have been done since 2009. Most done in the past 2 year. • Gas tank from junk yard • Fuel filter • Fuel pump • Fuel pressure regulator • Shocks • Hotchkis four link suspension • Hooker headers and flowmaster super 44s • Pro comp powder coated steel wheels (off-set 2 inches to stick out further than stock) • All new break lines • All new calipers • Relatively new rotors and pads • Wheel bearings • Radiator • Water pump • Heater core hoses • Detroit locker (real locker not true track or other Eaton posi) • Alternator • Idler pulley • 40% tread left on Michelin hydro-edge tires • Optima 6 pack red top battery • Original ignition switch broke. Cheap quick fix by hot-wiring with a switch for ignition on and a button to start it. (Fixable if you buy the parts. The cable snapped between the tumbler and original ignition switch located under the dash above the steering column) • Electric cooling fans are also on a switch - Starter replaced
Things to consider for future repair • Windows need to be glued back onto tracks but all windows will go up and down relatively easy with some manual assistance • Headers leak at heads. I have brand new aluminum chrushable gaskets that will resolve the issue. They will be provided with the car. • Steering has play. I have Hotchkis complete tie rods and end links that will come with the car • Some rust on lower quarter panels behind rear wheels. There are two small spots on the floor that have rusted through. The floor is still very sturdy and the holes can be repaired. Hole inside trunk on the passenger's side where the wheel well meets the trunk. Normal surface rust on frame and spots under the hood for a car with this mileage. • Air conditioning worked last summer. Something malfunctioned so I unplugged the compressor. Should be repairable. • A normal sized stereo will fit into the dash. All wires are there and ready to be hooked up. 1 pioneer speaker in each front door. No rear speakers but there is wiring. |

No, Cadillac is not killing its flagship CT6 sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2017Mark Twain never actually said that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. But if the Cadillac CT6 could talk, those are the exact words it would use. Speaking to Jalopnik, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen confirmed, emphatically, "There is absolutely no plan, at all, to cancel the CT6." In fact, says de Nysschen, the CT6 will soon be the beneficiary of significant investment. "The [CT6] forms a very important part of our product strategy going forward for the brand. The car also has a very major contribution to make to the shaping of brand perceptions, and the transformational process that Cadillac is undergoing." For instance, expect the CT6 to spearhead General Motors' most advanced forays into self-driving automobile technology. Interestingly, though, the Cadillac ATS and CTS sedans probably won't live past their current generations as the automaker 're-balances its sedan portfolio.' Replacement models are "in development" right now, says de Nysschen, which will "much more clearly separate the market position, both in terms of target customer demographics, in terms of market segments and in terms of price points between these three sedan lineups." So, that's confirmation that the Cadillac CT6 is going to stick around for a while. But what of other models cited by Reuters to potentially be killed, like the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala and Volt? Read our take on that here, but suffice it to say that we don't think they're in danger, either. Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.
Chevrolet Camaros at SEMA are a mobile accessory catalog
Wed, 06 Nov 2013Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.
