this is my baby. i hate to sell her. this is a great project car. i started to fix her up but i have run out of money. my wife lost her job and i am disabled. we are now homeless living in a hotel room. selling this car will save us. i want to re-invest into my ebay store with the $$ we make selling our car. she has new radiator and electronic water pump. new rear break cylinders. brake fluid flushed as well. nice and clean fluid. the cooling system was flushed as well all new fluid 60/40 mix prestone green. she needs a tune up bad and i can not afford it. she runs and starts up. she has ac and new heater core i replaced myself. she runs a bit rough due to needing tune up. i had her put on computer and no major engine problems. she needs a new piece where the plug wires go less than $100 for part if you do it yourself. once that is fixed she will purrrr!!! she runs quiet and rides smooth. the front and rear seals are beginning to leak due to age. once again cheap fix if you do it yourself. i am looking to sell the car to someone that knows about this car and will finish what i has started. after fully restored im my opinion after she is restored this car can bring in a hefty return of over 10k or even more to the right person. i have installed a $5000 eibach spring drop kit the front is only a few inches from the ground. she has professionaly installed limo tint. this is not a cop car. this is not an impalla. it has a very rare engine. only 20% of these cars have this engine. its an LT1 replica called an LTT. it is one of the only "vin W" v8 ever produced. is a 4.3 v8 it has all the features of the LT1 but the block is smaller for better fuel economy. the body is in excellent condition just needs cleaned up. no rust. the chrome strip is pealing due to age and can be replaced for under $30. i lost 2 rims due to blow out on highway. she needs some new rims. i will add the interior pictures very soon i am in process of cleaning it up a bit. she needs new carpet. 20years old lol. the rear seat looks brand new never really has anyone sit in the back. the front driver seat has a few small burns from my wife careless smoking =-( the front passenger side window is stuck. i think it is just off track the motor still works. i am an honest personso i listed every little thing i can remember. " no surprises " all not expensive to fix if you do it yourself. this car was garage kept most of its life and was hardly every driven and only had 80k miles when i bought her for $6000. the rest of the miles i added are all highway miles. i always kept up on the oil changes she does not smoke or have any knocks or pings. good engine. the radio has been replaced to full sony surround. has 2x 300watt 6in midrange in door less than year old. and 2x 500watt 6x9s in the rear. has a $160 amp wire ready for amp in the trunk, i use to have 2x 18in box in trunk my wife made me sell since we have a little one now lol. no need for all that bass.she has a very big trunk you can fix atleast 4 or 5 bodys in it lol jk =-) i listed all little problems i know. as a reminder this is not your everyday ride around car is more like a weekend head turner. you will get a lot of attenion from this car as i already do. happy bidding!!!!    p.s the cas current location is near daytona fl.

Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint

Thu, May 21 2020

For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.

McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021

Tue, May 4 2021

Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.

Chevy Volt replacement battery cost varies wildly, up to $34,000

Fri, Jan 10 2014

There's a growing hubbub in the plug-in vehicle community over what looks like some ridiculously cheap replacement batteries for the Chevrolet Volt going up for sale. GM Parts Online, for example, is selling a replacement Volt battery with an MSRP of $2,994.64 but, with an online discount, the price comes down to $2,305.88. For the 16-kWh pack in the 2012 Volt, that comes to a very low $144.11 per kilowatt hour (kWH). But is it a real deal? How can it be, when a Chevy dealer may quote you a price of up to $34,000 to replace the pack? For a 16-kWh Volt pack, $2,305.88 comes to a very low $144.11 per kWh. But is it a real deal? Battery packs in alternative propulsion vehicles are usually priced by the kWh and, historically, they've been thought to be in the range of $500-per-kWh for OEM offerings. Since automakers are understandably secretive about their costs, we still don't know what the real number is today, but we do know it varies by automaker. Tesla, for example, has said it pays less than $200-per-kWH at the cell level but, of course, a constructed pack would be more. Whatever is going on, li-ion battery prices are trending downward. So, $144.11 certainly sounds great, but what's the story here? Kevin Kelly, manager of electrification technology communications for General Motors, reminded AutoblogGreen that GM Parts Online is not the official GM parts website and that, "the costs indicated on the site are not what we would charge our dealers or owners for a replacement battery. There would be no cost to the Volt owner if their battery needs replacement or repair while the battery is under the eight year/100,000 mile limited warranty coverage provided by Chevrolet." A single price tag also can't be accurate for everyone, Kelly said. "If the customer needs to have their battery repaired beyond the warranty, the cost to them would vary depending on what needs to be replaced or repaired (i.e. number of modules, which specific internal components need replacement, etc.)." he said. "So, it's hard for us to tell you exactly what the cost would be to the customer because it varies depending on what might need to be repaired/replaced. As a result, the core charge would vary." But, is the $2,300 price even accurate for anyone? Thanks to a reader comment, we see that this similar item on New GM Parts makes it look like the lithium-ion modules that Kelly mentioned – where a lot of the expensive bits are – are not included.
