This amazing “survivor”, all original, numbers matching, 1984 Chevrolet Caprice Estate Wagon WITH the 3rd row "Jump Seat" with less than 63,000 original miles on it has had "technically" a total of 3 owners in its 30 year pampered life, but really, I'm feel I'm the 2nd owner.  The car is an all original car from New Jersey.  The original owners had the car until 2013, gave it to their grandson who had it only a few months.  He didn't want it and decided to sell it to a gentleman that I bought it from, who only had it a couple months himself.  He just bought it to flip and make a little money I believe.  When I bought it, it was still registered in the grandson's name (the second owner).

Now, on to the description of this gorgeous vehicle.  This Caprice Estate was never smoked in, was sparingly driven (as I said, it currently has less than 63,000 original miles), lovingly cared for and always garaged since new.  Not only does it look virtually new, it drives like new!  The original owner’s manual is still in the glove box.  Included with the car is the original jack, jack instructions and a brand new full size spare tire.  I have tons of receipts from the original owner validating the mileage which shows all the items done to the car over the years and very recently.  More on that later....

This 1984 Caprice Estate is now being made available to some very lucky bidder.  The only reason I’m selling it is because I have my eye on another classic car I found.  If it doesn't sell, I’m perfectly OK with hanging on to it.  I'm in no hurry to sell it at all.  I know what I have so I'm not willing to "give it away".

This Caprice Estate was never hit and everything is in excellent factory original condition, including the paint and the "wood" decals.  The car honestly looks like a two year old car.  All the power windows and locks, lights, turn signals, horn, cruise control, gauges, wipers (and "squirters") and radio/cassette tape deck are in perfect working order.  Remember that door buzzer/dinger when you inserted the key?  Even THAT works perfectly!  No electrical issues at all.  The paint (which is 100% factory original, chrome bumpers (virtually showroom new original condition) chrome trim around the wheel wells, stainless trim and rubber trim are all in very good to excellent condition.  Roof rack is in like new condition.  No rust or pitting anywhere on any chrome surfaces.  This car handles beautifully and holds the road nice and straight at 40 MPH or 70 MPH.  No pulling at all and is very tight and responsive.  The car tracks straight when driving and braking.  The brakes work beautifully with no issues at all.  This Caprice rides on a new set of white wall all season radial tires mounted on the original factory wheels and original wire wheel covers to maintain its original factory look.  The exterior is incredible!  The ALL original cranberry color still has a brilliant shine!  It has a few nicks/blemishes here and there but from 3 feet away, they aren't noticeable and don't show up on the pictures.  The floors and frame as well as under the hood and cargo area and wheel wells are all solid and rust free with no signs of rust or rot anywhere.  Same for all the door jams and under the doors (see pictures).  NO RUST ANYWHERE!!  There is no way this car was ever driven in the winter.  There is just some light surface rust underneath the car, typical for the age of the car. Nothing at all to worry about.  All the glass is perfect.  No chips or cracks anywhere.  All the doors open and close effortlessly, just as new and all the door jams look new as well.  NO RUST anywhere here.

But that’s just the beginning!  The stunning interior is absolutely breathtaking and 98% original!  I had a new headliner and sun visors professionally installed ($750) using OEM matching color and material.  Looks awesome!  Nothing has been modified or “cut up” in any way.  It looks exactly as it did back in 1984 and looks brand new.  The upholstery, door panels, seat backs, carpet, headliner (no sagging, fading or rips), dash pad (no cracks or fading), chrome and stainless trim pieces are in excellent to near new condition.  This interior is, for all intensive purposes, in brand new original condition.  This Caprice Estate is equipped with the original AM/FM stereo/cassette with front and rear speakers (which works perfectly), power steering, power brakes, electric clock (which actually works and keeps PERFECT time, cigar lighter (works great).  The A/C blows cold with no issues.  The heat works great with no issues.

This Caprice has the original 305 V8 engine with a the original but rebuilt 4BBL carb, which is hooked to its original transmission (4 speed) with overdrive.  Both perform as new.  Absolutely no knocking, smoking or hesitation from the engine and the transmission shifts through the gears like a new car.  No slippage at all.  No leaks anywhere and no burning of any oil.  It’s very smooth with no issues.  I brought this car to the Woodward Dream Cruise last year and “cruised” in 2 hours straight of bumper to bumper traffic just idling in 85 degree heat and the car didn’t miss a beat.  No overheating and stayed in the “normal” temperature range the whole time.

DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE THIS AMAZING 1984 CAPRICE ESTATE, WHICH WILL GIVE YOU YEARS OF DRIVING ENJOYMENT AND PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP!

READY FOR SHOW OR GO!

NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!

This 1984 Caprice Estate has been lovingly cared for since new.  This is a vehicle that anyone would be proud of and this car is wonderful to drive.  It turns heads everywhere it goes.  I get more looks for this car than any other classic car I have owned and I have had quite a few.  It brings back so many memories for so many people.  It took me YEARS to find this car in this condition.  They simply don't exist anymore.

I see no reason why the winning bidder couldn’t fly in and drive this vehicle home to anywhere in the country.

As everybody knows, nothing is perfect.  The paint has a couple of tiny stone chips on the hood and the paint has some minor blemishes on the hood here and there but are hardly noticeable, unless you get right up on the car.  There is one small ding on the right rear quarter panel which you really have to look for as well as a couple tiny dings on the hood.  Again, it’s hardly noticeable and doesn't detract from the look of the car.  The rear bumper fillers need replacing.  I have already purchased the parts so they will be included with the sale of the car.  The front door arm rests are starting to "lift" a bit as  you can see in the pictures.  The power antenna doesn't work anymore but radio and tape deck work perfectly as well as all the speakers.

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.

Travis Kvapil tells Twitter his Sprint Cup car was stolen

Fri, Feb 27 2015

There's a bizarre story coming out of Atlanta today, as NASCAR racer Travis Kvapil is reporting that his Sprint Cup Car was stolen from a lot at the Drury Inn in Morrow, GA. Kvapil announced the theft, which included the black pickup that was hauling the trailer and the #44 Chevrolet SS Sprint Cup Car – shown above, with driver JJ Yeley at the wheel – on Twitter. According to Kvapil, the car wasn't going to be ready for the Thursday test session at Atlanta Motor Speedway, although forecasts of snow forced the team to dispatch their main trailer and tools to the track ahead of the car, which left for Atlanta later yesterday. According to ESPN, police in Morrow have video of the "incident," which happened at 5:34 AM Friday, with police investigating it as as criminal in nature. "Sometimes what happens when thieves see trailers, they might just assume there's something in the trailer they can go off and sell," Sgt. Larry Oglesby, of the Morrow PD, told USA Today. "Sometimes when things like this occur, they will drop off the items in a parking lot somewhere – like a Walmart parking lot – once they realize what they have." "All we know is it was a silver jeep," team owner John Cohen told USA Today. "One guy got out and they pulled off together." Earlier, Cohen told ESPN that the theft will force the team out of this weekend's race at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Kvapil, meanwhile, has taken to Twitter to appeal to his followers to be on the lookout for the truck, trailer and race car. Here's hoping it turns up all together. Check out the driver's tweets, below. Wow. Anyone near Atlanta find my stolen Cup car let me know! Unreal - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 I bet when whoever has it, opens the trailer and is going to be like 'oh snap' - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 Ok, to clarify. @Teamxtreme44 transporter is @amsupdates. The guys stayed and worked on the car Thursday at the shop in NC. They drove.... - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 down last night in a Ford dually and enclosed trailer with racecar inside. That was stolen out of hotel parking lot this am in Morrow, GA - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 Black Ford dually, white enclosed tag behind trailer. New Jersey plates - Travis Kvapil (@TravisKvapil) February 27, 2015 Dang.... I'm wishing we had LoJack or something on it!
