1968 Chevrolet Caprice 2 Dr Unmolested Driver on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
There are still some left out here. It's an original unmodified car, from western states, that's running & driving in pretty decent condition. 327" 275 horse engine with matching numbers, Starts & runs fine, still has original dual hump heads, with 350 turbo hydro transmission (3 speed ), A/C, power windows, & tilt steering column.
There's a patch of surface rust on the left front fender & a trace of it around the rear window moulding, but that's about it. The chassis & underneath the body it's rust free. It looks like some years ago an attempt was made to repair a dent on the left rear quarter panel & now the bondo is flaking off, & there is an almost identical dent on the right rear quarter that has not been repaired. The fuel gauge doesn't work, & the heater blower doesn't work. Everything else works as it should. Original cloth vinyl seats with lime green interior, seats are still original & front seat fabric is torn & the foam is starting to deteriorate & crumble. I have a clear title, owners manual, warranty book with original owner name registered & the protect o plate "credit card." As i said before, this car runs amazingly well. Runs & drives straight down the road with no rattles or weird noises or unexpected jumping around. Brakes, trans, tires, engine & front end perform as they should. No drama. It's the kind of project you can drive to work during the week & restore it on the weekends. Buyer is responsible for shipping & handling. A deposit of $450 paid through paypal is required within 48 hours of end of purchase. The remainder is to be paid within 7 days of end of auction in cash or bank wire transfer. There is no warranty expressed or implied, purchase is "as is, where is." It's a nice running old chevy in great condition for it's age. Please read the description & study the pix carefully. |

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

Automakers score 8 out of top 20 most-watched ads on YouTube [w/videos]
Fri, 14 Dec 2012Who would have ever thought there'd be a day where people are able to skip television commercials only to go to websites to watch them later? Such is the joy of a DVR and YouTube. AdWeek tabulated the 20 most-watched ads on YouTube, and found that nine were car-related including eight coming from automakers.
Volkswagen continued its Star Wars theme with two ads in the top 20, including the highest-ranking car commercial The Bark Side spot at number three with almost 18 million views, which doesn't even have a single car in it. Some of our favorites are from Chrysler with Clint Eastwood in It's Halftime in America and House Arrest with Charlie Sheen for the Fiat 500 Abarth. Chevrolet, Honda, Audi and Toyota were the other automakers in the top 20, but we'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention one of the coolest ads on the list, the Hot Wheels corkscrew jump.
Of all the car videos, only the Fiat ad wasn't played during a Super Bowl. Check out all eight videos - in order - after the jump. Nike took the top spot with its My Time is Now ad that has been seen online more than 20 million times with Pepsi's Uncle Drew posted up in the runner-up; some of the other videos include four Old Spice commercials and an ad in which Snoop Dogg is pedaling Hot Pockets.
