I am selling a 1965 Chevrolet Impala- V8, Auto trans, A/c, caprice luxury option (This is not a caprice model, In 1965 caprice was a luxury option not its own models, 1966 was the first year the caprice was its own model). I have the title in hand and it is a clean title. If you want to see the car before bidding please let me know, I am more than happy to show it. I bought this as a driving project, to tinker with and restore but could drive at the same time, but I am working 2 jobs and have too many cars so decided to let this one go, Its been fun car to have and drive, gets a lot of attention when going down the road. With a good paint job it would be a very clean show/classic car, or it can be used as a reliable transportation & family car. It has a nice smooth ride to it, even with 4 people in the car. Goes down the road straight, No strange noises or vibrations, quiet inside. Comes with original Owners manual

Interior
It has new seats, new headliner, new carpet, new visors, door panels have been restored, has the original AM radio, all original gauges, original steering wheel, All gauges function properly. Inter fan works, Heater works, Ac needs a new belt and to be recharged. The trunk is clean, recently painted with undercoating dyed to match the exterior color. I have $2175 in new interior work, I have all the receipts on the interior work.

Engine:
Engine is a 283 v8, with a 2 speed auto trans, upgraded 4 bbl carb, rebuilt alternator, new mastercylinder, almost of the vacumme lines have been replaced, Factory dual exhaust, recent oil and filter change, radiator was replaced about a year ago, new powersteering pump with life time warranty, Radiator hoses and water pump were replaced when radiator was replaced.  Car starts right up, runs very well, a few months ago we drove it from orange county to Mammoth and back with no issues. About 3 weeks ago I drove it from Tustin to the Staples center every day for 5 days with no issues. Car does not over heat, even in hot CA weather in stop and go traffic. Car gets between 15-17 Miles per gallon depending on how you drive it and conditions. The car does not smoke except a tiny bit when it sits for a week or longer, and goes away after about 30 seconds. I was told the engine has about 50k miles since it was rebuilt, i was told that was about 10 years ago, I was not given any receipts so can not verify this, I was told it has a slightly mild cam installed in it when it was rebuilt, For a large car with a 283 it moves very well. I would recommend some new mufflers and exhaust sometime in the future, It does have some very small exhaust leaks in the pipes, You may be able to just weld them up. You dont really hear the leak, but if you stick your head under the car when its running you have slightly hear it if your listening for it. I have been driving it this way for a while now, never bothered me, Im just trying to make sure I tell everything I know about the car.

Exterior:

Outside is painted flat brown, Almost all the chrome trim and emblems are off the car ( I do have them, they are all in the trunk and go with the car), it has no major body damage, it does have a couple of small dings, nothing major, body is clean and pretty much straight except for the couple of dings I mentioned. It does have a bit of rust by the right lower corner of the rear window. All the body pannels line up and everything opens and closes smoothly. Grill is straight and has all the chrome pieces on the car, could use a polishing. both bumpers appear straight, front would look very good with a bit of polish, rear has some light surface rust on it, I was planning on painting the bumpers the same color as the car one day so I didnt really mind the condition of the chrome. All lights front and rear work. This car being the Impala with the Caprice luxury package came with a few more chrome pieces than the standard Impala, I believed all the pieces are there and in decent condition. It also has the original hub baps with little to no road rash or dents.

Car is being sold as is where is. If you need the car shipped its up to you to arrange for shipping, Car must be paid for in full before I will release it.

Chevy reveals new IndyCar aero package

Tue, Feb 17 2015

The IndyCar Series is not one that demands its participating teams and automakers to design their own chassis as they do in Formula One, but for this season, the organizers have opened it up to allow for custom aero packages. What you're looking at here is the new look of the chassis to be fielded by teams running under Chevy power. Based on the Dallara DW12 chassis – introduced three years ago and named after the late Dan Wheldon – Chevy's new package is designed for road courses and short ovals, with the speedway configuration to be revealed later. The kit features new wings front and rear and more sculpted side pods. It's also got new wedges at the back to envelop the otherwise open wheels that are a hallmark of Indy racing, a more streamlined engine cover and bigger rear bumper pods. The new package will debut at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg that will kick off this year's championship in Florida on March 29, followed by the road-course grands prix in Louisiana, Long Beach, Alabama and Indianapolis before the new package needs to be ready for the Indy 500 late in May. Half of the teams on the starting grid this season will be running under Chevy power and are expected to use this new aero kit, with the remaining Honda teams slated to run a different package of their own. Chevrolet Debuts All-New 2015 IndyCar Aero Package Chevy-developed bodywork delivers improved aerodynamics 2015-02-17 INDIANAPOLIS – Chevrolet-powered racecars in the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series will feature Chevrolet-developed aero packages. Chevrolet introduced the road course/short oval body design today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is distinguished from the previous racecar with new front wing elements, sculpted side pods and a new rear wing. A speedway configuration for the aero kit, designed for high-speed ovals, will be introduced ahead of its competitive debut at Indianapolis in May. "This is an important milestone in Chevrolet's involvement in IndyCar racing," said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "We focused on developing an aerodynamic package that delivers an balanced combination of downforce and drag, along with integrated engine performance. It's a total performance package." The new Chevy road course aero configuration delivers greater aerodynamic performance than the previous design.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

Driving Granatelli's turbine-powered 1978 Chevy Corvette [w/video]

Thu, Jan 8 2015

With its curvy snout and feminine haunches, the third-gen Chevrolet Corvette looks like a dreamy – if dated – exemplar of Sports Car Fantasy 101 when viewed through modern eyes. This particular specimen circa '78, clad in silver and black paint with red pinstripes, appears to be a well-preserved example from the era. Apart from its low-profile Pirellis, slightly raised and slotted hood, spacious stance and a certain hand-painted descriptor alongside its crossed flag logos, you'd never guess there's a Space-Age propulsion unit powering this Coke bottle-bodied ride. Climb inside, and you're presented with aircraft gauges and big, colorful square buttons in the center panel. It takes a push of the "Ignitor" button, a tap of the starter button, and a slide of a T-handle for this nearly 40-year-old sports car to start sounding like Gulfstream G650 ready for takeoff. Yep, you're sitting in an 880-horsepower, turbine-powered Corvette, the only one of its kind in the world. Welcome to the whoosh. What The...? Built by Vince Granatelli, son of Indy 500 guru Andy Granatelli, this curious Corvette came into being by cramming a Pratt & Whitney ST6N-74 gas turbine engine into the donor car's lengthy front end. The same type of Jet A-burning mill powered Granatelli Senior's STP-sponsored racecar at the 1967 Indianapolis 500, where it famously led most of the 198 of 200 laps until a $6 transmission bearing failed, knocking it out of the race. The idea of turbine power usurping internal combustion was so threatening that Indy's governing body restricted turbine performance into obsolescence thereafter. A turbine-powered Corvette sounds excessive because it is. But there are also things about this 880-horsepower, 1,161-pound-feet monster that might surprise you. While it smacks of futurist exoticism and cost a then-dizzying $37,000 in 1967, the Canadian-built powerplant uses 80 percent fewer parts than an internal combustion V8 and will run on virtually anything combustible – whiskey, diesel, even Chanel No. 5. Though it's triple the length of a V8, the Pratt & Whitney beast weighs only 285 pounds. It's also one hell of a robust workhorse, typically serving as an auxiliary power unit for commercial aircraft or a generator in oil fields, where it can run for tens of thousands of consecutive hours before needing an overhaul. To adapt the Chevrolet for jet duty, the nose section was gutted and a sub-frame was built to compensate for the loosey-goosey front end.
