Here is a very nice classic 1969. Slight resto mod. Nothing over the top but I didn't want to build just another " clone " or " tribute " car. This is a frame on restoration. There are still a few details to taken care of on this car but I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a different project so sadly I have to sell this car. Bodywork and Paint The car was taken down to bare metel to properly take care of the body work. Some of the body seams were reworked and properly filled in ( not with bondo). The seams below the rear window, the seams around the front end of the car, above and below the grille. The front side markers were removed, filled in and relocated. They were also switched to 1968 side markers. I didnt the like long skinny 69 style markers. The front bumper was also reworked. I had the " horns " removed and rechromed. The car is painted a slight variation of Atomic Orange and finished off with some nice gray stripes. The rear spoiler was also reworked. It blends nicely in to the trunk deck lid. The rear lights are Marquez Design billet and I smoked the rear lenses. The bright red lenses didn't look good against the Atomic Orange. The smoked lenses play off the tinted windows nicely. Wheels are nice set of stock rally wheels. 15's in the rear mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial GT 245/60/15. On the front are 14" wheels on Coopers 225/70/14 with 2 inch drop spindles. Engine and Mechanical The 307 that was in the car was pulled and rebuilt to retain the originality. It was bored out .20 over. It has a mild RV cam, intake manifold was ported and polished. Holley 750 double pumper. The belt system was changed over to a serpentine belt drive system. Along with the serpentine setup comes an A/C pump but its not hooked up. The car was equiped with factory A/C but it wasn't able to be saved. Nice old school Holley valve covers. The alternator was taken apart, polished just enough to add a little shine, then reassembled. A nice billet spark plug wire harness keeps the wires out of the way and safe. Hooker Headers wrap around the Saginaw gearbox. Billet transmission dipstick. Optima Yellow Top Battery. Electric fan to help keep the engine cool. New gas tank. Dual exhaust that sounds awesome. The car still needs a few details to totally complete the car. Windshield wiper motor, wipers, fuel sending unit and weather stripping for upper window frame ( sorry, i dont know the technical name of that part) will just about wrap up the remaining details. The radio does not work but I just use my Big Jambox bluetooth speaker and play music from my phone, plenty loud enough. No speaker holes cut into anything. This is a fresh restoration. I barely have over 500 miles on the car since the restoration and just changed the braek in oil. If this car doesnt sell, I will be taking care of all the little details left and then take the car to Barrett-Jackson or Mecum. This camaro might not make it on to the grass at Pebble Beach but will definately hold its own at Barrett Jackson/Mecum auctions so I've been told be several people who go to these auctions and have seen this car in person. Registration is current and valid until November 2015. Nice pair of restored black california plates. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle to have satisfied his or her self as to the condition and value & to bid based upon that judgement.

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]

Thu, Jun 12 2014

The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error

Sun, Feb 8 2015

After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare. Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
