Up for sale is a 1979 Z28 Camaro. This was my project for the last 14 months and just got it on the road 2 weeks ago. It has a ton of new parts/paint which I will list below as well as some needs which I will also list. It is powered by a good running 355 Chevy with a mild cam and a 4 speed manual transmission. With the Flowmaster exhaust is sounds aggressive.
The Good:
Body work and paint completed May 2013- this included replacing a rocker panel, stripping car to bare metal and then painting it white. Interior was completely removed and floors were repaired. Brand new carpet was installed, interior was dyed black. Brand new interior door panels, window cranks, and brand new weather stripping. My mechanic went through cars wiring and replaced and corrected the electrical in the car. The hood scoop is off of an 81 Camaro with the air induction. Hood hinges and door hinges were replaced-new. I also put a lot of money into making this car safe. I bought a brand new brake booster, brand new stainless steel brake lines for front and rear along with brand new brake hoses for front and rear. New rotors, calipers, along with new brake pads. I also replaced the front springs and shocks on the car along with some of the front suspension parts (tie rods, sway bar, etc). New plugs, wires, new headers, Brand new Flowmaster exhaust- true duals with an X-Pipe. The car has brand new 17" polished rims along with a new set of 235-45-17 tires (less than 100 miles).
The bad-
I am going to try to list every thing even if it seems small. I will start with the interior- The windshield has 2 rock hits (pictured), headliner could probably use replacing at some point (has a small hole (smaller than dime), small tear in dash (pictured), no AC, no radio, fuel gauge doesn't work, speedometer slightly off, gauge cluster may need to be replaced, center console not perfect (not bad), and the sunroof will leak slightly in the rain. Exterior- The rear spoiler has a small crack, The Z28 flares are not 100% lined up, the Z28 stripes were not installed perfectly (some creases here and there, but not bad), windshield wipers don't work.
Any questions please ask. I have put a lot of money into this car, but it will need a little more to be perfect. Not a show quality car, but a great weekend driver. I wish I could keep, but am forced to sell. It gets a ton of looks and a lot of thumbs up as I drive around town the past 2 weeks.
I HAVE SET THE RESERVE PRICE LOW (less than half the money I put into it) SO PLEASE BID- I am located 5 minutes from O'hare airport in Chicago. I reserve the right to end the bid early if sold locally.

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla sells Model S 85 and 70D in Malaysia, Chevy Spark EV built using clean energy
Mon, May 18 2015Tesla will send Model S 70D and Model S 85 EVs to Malaysia for leasing to government-linked companies. Only those companies will have access to the models as a two-year lease, which will be imported and leased by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation. The plan is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water to allow government officials and other influential people to get to know the electric vehicles and the benefits that come along with them. Most of the 120 vehicles available will be the 70D model, and the lessee companies will have the option to purchase the cars at the end of the two years. Read more from Paul Tan's Automotive News. The plant has reduced its energy intensity by 15.5 percent in three years, and continues to work toward reducing consumption and sourcing clean energy. Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?
Mon, Feb 27 2017We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.
