This all numbers matching Z28 COPO has been certified by Jerry MacNeish as one of less than 8 known to exist with
all original build sheet to prove authenticity (see pics below). Many claim to have the rare COPO 9796 option but
without original buildsheet or window sticker (as seen here) it's simply hearsay. This Z28 COPO Special Race
Spoiler package for the 1970 Camaro was designed to allow Chevrolet to continue to dominate the SCCA Trans-Am Race
Series. After testing the standard issue D80 short spoiler showed significant lift at speeds in excess of 120MPH.
The new COPO 9796 high spoiler helped down force at higher speeds and was a significant improvement in the areas of
stability and cornering traction in SCCA Trans-Am racing series. In order to comply with SCCA race rules, a limited
number of these cars were built in late April 1970, and starting in June, also included the front spoiler as part
of this package. As shown on the buildsheet and documented by MacNeish, this car was built in late June of 1970.
This example originally finished in Mulsanne Blue, with the optional deluxe blue interior. This COPO Z also retains
its original "born with" LT1, TH400 automatic transmission and 3.73 posi rear. The list of options from the factory
per the buildsheet and MacNeish is as follows:
*Very rare and true Z28 COPO example.

U76 windshield Antenna
U63 AM radio

B42 Luggage comp mat
A01 Tinted Glass
AS1 Standard front horn
M40 Special 3-speed automatic transmission
J52 Disc Brakes
Z87 Deluxe Interior, blue with black comfort weave
G80 Positraction, 3.73 ratio
F41 Special Performance Suspension
D80 Spoiler equipment, superceded by COPO 9796AA three piece spoiler (Includes front spoiler equipment as well)
Z28 Special Engine and equipment
Since MacNeish authenticated this car nearly a decade ago, we've done a lot to get it to the next level, we painted
the car in it's original mulsanne blue with black stripes per build sheet, along with redoing the interior with the
rare correct comfort weave blue with black deluxe interior (sourced the last of the original fabric). We
refurbished the wheels and added the original bias-ply F-60 Firestone wide ovals. This is a rust free car with all
original sheet metal still on the car. The engine has never been out of the car and since she runs amazing as is,
we've opted to keep much of the engine bay original at this time, though as you can see in the pictures, is very
presentable as is. This past summer, we were pleased to have her accepted to the prestigious Hillsborough Concours
D'elegance where the COPO Z placed 3rd in class! (5 point deduction for no fire extinguisher in car, otherwise we
would've placed 2nd or perhaps 1st!)

Deep discounts — $12K, $13K, $16K — are fueling a pickup price war

Mon, Jun 4 2018

Heavy discounts of up to $16,000 per vehicle are fueling a "truck war" among full-size pickups sold in the United States by the Detroit Three, a Reuters analysis shows. Strong U.S. sales this year of the highly profitable big trucks have helped offset lagging passenger car sales. But it is not clear how much of the truck demand is linked directly to ample factory incentives and dealer discounts, or how far sales might decline without those subsidies. A Reuters survey of Ford, General Motors Co's Chevrolet and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles's Ram truck dealers across the United States indicates stores are offering deep discounts the country's bestselling full-size pickup trucks. "The walls are not crashing down on full-size trucks," said Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Detroit-based automakers want to keep cranking out their high-margin trucks, he added, and "giving up a little of the profit is the cheapest way to do it." Stores are offering discounts of up to $12,000 on the 2018 Ford F-150, which remains the best-selling vehicle in the country, recording more than 80,000 sales in May. Discounts run up to $13,000 on the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and as high as $16,000 on the Ram 1500. Average transaction prices for full-size pick-ups range from around $42,000 to $45,000, industry analysts and automakers say. All three companies are spending furiously - GM and Fiat Chrysler to help sell off carryover 2018 trucks to prepare for redesigned 2019 models, and Ford to sustain its long-held sales crown. A supplier fire that temporarily shut down production of the F-150 last month "changed the game," said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at LMC Automotive in Troy, Michigan said. The supply halt nudged Ford's crosstown rivals "to ratchet up incentives on the current models to go after weakness at Ford," he said. Deals advertised on the companies' official websites range from rebates and low-interest loans to ultra-cheap lease rates, but they are not telling the whole story. Ford, for instance, advertises a $2,000 rebate and a $500 financing credit on sales of certain F-150 models. But James Collins Ford in Louisville, Kentucky, is offering discounts of up to $12,215 on the 2018 F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4. The price cuts are even steeper at a number of GM and Fiat Chrysler dealers. Quirk Chevrolet is selling the 2018 Silverado 1500 Double Cab at $13,000 off sticker.

Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment

Fri, Jun 17 2016

Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.
