Very original and numbers matching X33D80 Z28 Camaro. This Z28 was born in Ohio and stayed
there until I brought it to California last year. I had planned to keep it for a long time but life has a way of
changing your plans. This Z28 runs and drives excellent! All gauges, lights, blinkers and wipers work as they
should. Even the dummy lights in the dash still work. The horn works with both steering wheel buttons but does not
blow loudly. This Z28 has the rare center fuel gauge, in dash tachometer without console option. Car has its
original power front disc brakes and stops on a dime. Tires are all new as well as all new kyb gas adjust shocks.
Three of the four 15" wheels are the original YH code wheels. Car has quick ratio no power steering. Front end has
new bushings, ball joints and alignment. The interior is the original standard black and is in excellent condition.
The headliner is coming apart at the seams.
All of the body panels appear to be original to car and are very straight and solid. Car appears to have had one
repaint in its original and rare code 53 Glacier Blue. Being an original Ohio car there is some rust on the body
and underneath as I will describe as best I can later in ad.
The engine currently in the car is a 383 stroker bottom end with the original 302 heads, valve covers, intake,
distributor, pulleys, and fan. The original numbers matching 302 DZ shortblock is out of the car and is included in
sale. It will need rebuild. The transmission is the original numbers matching Muncie M21 close ratio. The rear end
is the original BU coded 12 bolt posi. Car also comes with its original flat hood as pictured.
Now for the rust. Please note that I am not a body man or expert mechanic but I will describe as best I can. Most
of the undercarriage rust appears to be where the tires slung the Ohio road salt. The rear frame rails are rusted
mostly at the ends and will need at least partial replacement or repairs. The trunk pan will need at least partial
replacement or repair. Shock towers are excellent. Both rocker panels will need replacement or repair. The floor
pans will need at least partial replacement or repair. The radiator support will need replacing. The front
subframe, control arms, and rear end axles have some pitting but appear to be very solid and should clean up fine.
There are a couple holes at the seam on the firewall. The dash is rusted at both corners by the windshield. Some
body panels also have some rust but it does not appear that any will need to be replaced with more than a patch.
The driver's door skin may need replacing. I know that this may sound like a lot but I am attempting to be
extremely thorough. This Z28 is by no means a rust bucket and is well worth the time and money to restore. It can
be driven as is and restored as desired.

GM files for Z71 Trail Boss trademark

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Try as they might to keep their plans a secret, automakers have their hands tipped through a variety of methods – be they through loose lips, spy shots or patent and trademark applications. That's how we know, in this instance, that General Motors is working on (or at least considering) an off-road machine wearing the name Z71 Trail Boss – the name which our compatriots at AutoGuide.com tell us that GM has registered for use on light-duty trucks. Now if that alphanumeric designator sounds familiar, it should. GM has long used it to designate the off-road packages on many of its body-on-frame trucks from Chevy and GMC. These days you can order a Z71 package on the Chevy Colorado, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban and on the GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon. The package typically includes components like a beefed-up suspension bits, high-capacity air cleaner and underbody protection plates. The Trail Boss designator would seem to suggest something further reaching than a suspension package, though. Just what it would entail we don't know; minds immediately start running toward Chevy or GMC going after the Ford F-150 Raptor, but we'll likely be looking at something closer to the Trailhawk packages Jeep offers on the likes of the Renegade and Cherokee. This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet

Tue, May 9 2017

When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:

MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS

Thu, Jan 29 2015

Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect.
