1969 Chevrolet Camaro on 2040-cars
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Mechanicals:
new 350 engine from GM Performance, base crate 5.7L with oil pain, water pump, spark plugs, HEI GM distributor
was added. A new fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator and gauge was also added(Mr.Gasket).
Hoses were routed and clutter free to appropriate vacuum ports, and the car was timed 12+ with 32+ using vacuum
advance.
TH350 ( 3 speed) transmission rebuilt in 2014, in May was drained, new JEGS filter replaced, gasket, and refill
with Valvoline Sythetic. A new stainless Lokar Kick-Down cable was also routed to the carburetor. New vacuum lines
to carburetor were also ran. The output shaft was also replaced.
Thé rear was drained, resealed, and refilled with Valvoline traditional 75w90 gear oil and GM Limited slip
additive. It is a 10 bold posi-traction unit, and is spun with an aluminum driveshaft. Rear disc brakes are in very
good condition.
Custom headers ( clearances for power steering Box), ceramic coated silver. JEGS spark plug wire looms, Optima
Marine Grade blue top battery, and direct draw Sylvania Silver Star heading in crystal housing were added
Brake booster and heat protected flex bend steel brake lines with extension and proper fittings lead to 4 wheel
disc brakes.
Delco 2 wire Torque thrust staggered aluminum wheels with very good BF Goodrich tires.
Delco 2 wire modern alternator. Summit high torque starter, and an anti-theft (deadman) hidden switch.
New power steering pump and high ratio (quick turns) steering box.
It has a true “X” pipe flowmaster exhaust from the headers back, over the axle, and dumped under the car. All
stainless and professionally hung.
Global West Suspension Upgrades:
Front upper and lower tubular control arms with coil over shocks (not adjustable)
Subframe to rear links by Global west (stiffens entire
Global west body bushing and subframe connector kit.
Interior:
Headrest were removed and driver’s seat was mounted back for a tall man (can be put in factory mounts). The rear
seat is orignal. Front and rear seats were wrapped in charcoal leather (not vinyl), and sewn/seamed to match the
1969 style. The front seats have integrated 3 point seatbelts. The rear has 3 new GM lap belts. The leather is in
good shape, and shows normal wear fro 3 years of use. The car smells good inside.
Classic Air Industries R-134A ac unit with heater core was added. The unit was inspected and blows cold and fast.
New high loop black carpet installed with front and rear door panels, headliner, and majority of the rubber was
replaced, (although some is orignal)
Painless wiring fuse block (modern) and flashers were installed with all new wiring from the front to the rear of
the car.
Retro Sound AM/FM/AUX stereo with Kicker speakers and crossovers give plenty of sound from the rear deck. There are
no front speakers. It is not my place to cut holes in kick panels or doors. The sound system is plenty good. The
antenna is hidden under the dash board and no external antenna is present.
All dashboard indicators work, turn signals, high beams, and HVAC also work flawlessly.
Center console is original, but is functional and painted black (to eliminate the wood drain). Glove box has a new
insert, and ashtray/lighter are also new. Rear ashtray was glued shut ( common fix for metal or metal rattles). It
also needs a new dome light lens (also original).
Body:
New front clip sheet metal from AMD. Flat painted Spoiler from AMD. All other metal appears original from the doors
back. The car was blasted, body worked, block sanded, and coated in red sealer and topped with GM tuxedo Black 3
times and a single coat of PPG clear. The car was wet sanded and buffed.
Thé side glass is original. The front rear windshield are new installs (glued not gasket).
There are a few flaws in the paint, they are all very minor in my option:
Passenger front fender: A rock from the freeway landed in the middle top of the fender. The metal is not dinged,
but it did take off to the primer. It was filled with touch up paint, and looks acceptable. It was lightly color
sanded and buffed, and cloud use another pass.
Thé driver’s door has a revers ding above the handle. The car was slim-jammed after keys were locked in by a bad
tow man. The ding can be removed, but the entire interior panel shells are covered in sound deadening materials and
is very labor intensive to remove.
There are some paint chips from normal use on the car, but they are very inconspicuous.
The floor pan had a layer of undercoating applied, and new drain plugs installed. Everything under the car appears
correct and true, as does the subframe, cables, cross members, mounts, and cables.
As mentioned before, the interior had sound deadening materials placed from the front to the rear, floor to the
roof. It is a generic “Dynamat“, but just as thick.
The trunk pan is original, and was re-painted upon restoration with gray splatter style fleck.
All emblem holes were welded and filled. The front nose Camaro emblem was powder coated black. All chrome trim was
painted black (bumpers, window molding, hard ware). All stainless trim was brushed stainless (grill and window
channels). The rain gutters were painted black. All new corner light with black bezels. Original rear tail lights.
Door handles were painted black, as well as the side view mirrors.
The body gaps are very clean, the doors, trunk, and hood close with one swing.

General Motors Recall List
Wed, Oct 22 2014It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.
Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
GM adds 1,200 jobs at Detroit-Hamtramck plant
Thu, Oct 22 2015General Motors is making a big move at its Hamtramck, MI, factory, announcing it will add a second shift and hire over 1,200 workers within the next several months. It's expected that by early 2016, the factory will employ over 2,800 workers to build the Chevrolet Volt, Impala, Malibu, Cadillac ELR, and by early next year, the new CT6. According to GM Hamtramck spokesperson Courtney Zemke, 40 of the 1,200 positions are for salaried employees, while the remainder will be hourly positions. As for where these employees will go, positions are being made available across the factory, so GM isn't focusing on any particular area for its new hires. It's a similar story behind the hiring surge itself. GM said in its press release that the "second shift is necessary to meet forecasted market demand," a position Zemke reiterated. It's a matter of demand across the plant's portfolio, rather than any one particular product seriously outstripping supply. Naturally, the United Auto Workers is happy with the move. "The workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck is second to none," UAW Local 22 Shop Chairman Don LaForest said in the attached release. "We appreciate the opportunity to expand our UAW-GM family." Hiring is going on now, with the second shift slated to get underway in early 2016. GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly to Add Second Shift and More Than 1,200 Jobs Plant will nearly double its workforce by early 2016 2015-10-22 DETROIT – General Motors is nearly doubling its workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly by adding a second shift and more than 1,200 hourly and salaried jobs. The addition of a second shift will increase the plant's workforce to approximately 2,800 people when hiring is completed. The second shift is necessary to meet forecasted market demand for the five cars produced at Detroit-Hamtramck. "This is the result of the award-winning vehicles Detroit-Hamtramck produces and the confidence GM has in our team to build world-class quality for our customers," said Plant Manager Gary West. Second shift hiring is underway, and the shift is scheduled to begin operations in early 2016. "The workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck is second to none," said UAW Local 22 Shop Chairman Don LaForest. "We appreciate the opportunity to expand our UAW-GM family." The 4.1 million-square-foot Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly opened in 1985. GM has invested $1 billion in the plant over the last six years, making it one of the company's most-agile manufacturing facilities in North America.
