Recently found by a friend of mine in Tri-Cities, Wa. in a barn this 1969 Camaro Z/28 X77 coded survivor all numbers matching born with original DZ302 that still has its original deep groove pulleys, 472 intake, valve covers, 837 altenator, 8367 starter, the carb and distributor have been changed at sometime. Also the 403 Bell housing and Muncie M-21 close ratio transmission is the born with original numbers matching as well is the factory original 12 Bolt 3.73 Posi "BU" coded, it has the original two peice front disc brake rotors, extra little brake proportion valve down on the driver side of the sub-frame, also single 3/8's fuel supply line, extra dual exhaust bracket with original exhaust hangers still mounted, rear bumper guards, this car was not equipt with a factory tach or console mounted gauges that was an option for this year, I also beleive the cowl hood was added back in the 70's it has a GM decal on the underside and after talking with one of the prior owners recently he bought the car from a college kid back in '79 and the car had already been painted the white and black you see as today, he said he lived in an apt in Seattle and they wouldn't let him have two vehicles so he took it to his Dad's in College Place, Wa. to store it and his Dad sold it out from under him for $1500 bucks-Ouch..!! A gal then owned it and had car troubles and took it to the local Chevy Dealer Sallee Chevrolet in 1984 whom did the repairs to the vehicle but the owner thought it was not worth the repair cost and left the vehicle. The owner of the dealership then put it in his holding lot for many years and eventually sold the car to his parts manager whom was looking for a Father/Son project in 1998, it then sat in the barn until my buddy purchased it in June of this year I sold it to me. I recently got it running and with little work and some brake work it could be a driver, the headers and exhaust are rotted off so it could use and exhaust system also, the motor sounds great and very healthy-I have one of my known good carbs on it temporarily just to get it running but I'll put the holley carb back on that goes with the car that will need to be rebuilt in order to work properly. The body is a little rough, the front fenders are solid but have dents, the drivers door has rust at the bottom and will need a patch the pass door is fine, the drivers quarter panel will need replaced for old bodywork and rust but the outter wheel house looks fine, the right quarter is solid and looks to had been replaced with a full NOS from the GM sticker on the inside of it at some time in its life. The tail panel rusted threw and will need replaced, the trunk floor is mostly solid couple of minor holes near the tail panel area, the floors seem mostly solid-there's a rust hole under the clutch pedal your heal would fit in and they seem a little soft around the rear left floor plug, the whole car will need to be stripped due to cracking old paint but its fairly straight, the interior is old disco tuck and roll, glass is good except the windshield, the cars not all cut up and all there definately worthy of a restoration. 2016 Chevy Volt will have more EV range, bigger battery

Meet the new Volt, not the same as the old Volt. That appears to be the story when General Motors introduces the 2016 Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Today we're getting some more details on the guts of the new plug-in hybrid, and it turns out they're going to be much improved from the current Volt, which first went on sale at the end of 2010. Sure, the first-gen Volt did get some improvements along the way (a slightly larger battery pack, lane departure warnings) but the new Volt – which will go on sale in the second half of 2015 – marks the first time GM has been able to return to the drawing board and really make the improvements that its customers want. That's how Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification explained it to AutoblogGreen today when explaining the all-new Voltec extended range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. "In the Gen 2 is we gave the engine a little more power, a little more torque, a little more displacement, more capability." – Larry Nitz Nitz said that the new Volt will be better in almost every sense: a bigger battery, longer EV-only range, 20 percent better acceleration in the low speed range and higher overall efficiency. This is due, in part, to the Volt's two motors being able to both act as generators and power the car. As we noted this morning, the 2016 Volt will use a larger, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a version of which is already used in the Chinese-market Cruze. Nitz said that this has a number of benefits, including more power and quieter operation. "Some people would say, why did you make [the first-gen engine] so big. I would say, why did you make it so small?" he said. "It works good, our customers love it, but the reality is that if you go a little bit off and use the car a little harder, you can get the engine to need to operate at a higher speed. In an EV, that's quite noticeable. So, what we did in the Gen 2 is we gave the engine a little more power, a little more torque, a little more displacement, more capability and what it has marginally enabled is not only is it more efficient but it's also quieter." Nitz wouldn't talk about how the new powertrain might affect the two other products that use the Volt's underpinnings – the Cadillac ELR and the Opel Ampera – but if you've got a quieter option, we assume that's something ELR drivers would enjoy. But that's a story for another day.

2015 Chevy Impala Bi-fuel burns CNG, starts at $37,385*

Currently, the only natural-gas-powered passenger car offered for sale by an OEM in the US is the Honda Civic Natural Gas. Starting this fall, that long-running CNG car will be joined by a CNG-burning 2015 Chevy Impala for both fleet and retail customers. General Motors announced today that the car will start at $37,385, plus an $825 destination charge. That comes to $38,210 before taxes and options. Those options include two trim lines, the base LS and the upper-level LT. Chevy doesn't break out the details in the press release announcing the price, but you can see the trim details for the standard gas-powered 2014 Impala here. Exact information on the 2015 models is not available just yet, but GM spokesman Chad Lyons told AutoblogGreen that the equipment that you see listed on the site for 2014 is "almost exactly the same" as what will be available for 2015. The 2015 Impala gets around 19 city mpg on CNG, but official EPA numbers are not yet available. That means the LS will come with 18-inch aluminum wheels, electric variable-assist power steering, projector-beam headlamps, and 10 air bags. The LT adds an eight-inch touch screen with MyLink, premium Cloth interior and dual-zone automatic climate controls. The cost for this upgrade is unspecified. For CNG purposes, we can ignore the numerical prefix used for the gas-powered LT trims, since that denominates the engine type, and all the CNG models use a 3.6-liter engine with hardened valves and valve seats that can better handle natural gas. The trunk capacity also drops from 18.8 cubic feet to 10 cu .ft. in order to fit in the CNG tank that holds the equivalent of 7.8 gallons of gas. That amount of CNG should move you 150 city miles, which is around 19 mpg, but official EPA numbers are not yet available. With the addition of the gasoline on board, the overall range is 500 city miles. The car burns CNG when available and switches to gas with "no interruption" either when the tank is empty or when the driver selects the gas tank. Find more details in the press release below. GM says the CNG Impala will will be available nationwide this fall. CNG is a growing fuel in the US, thanks in part to fracking. The Civic Natural Gas, which starts at $26,640, is growing towards a nationwide availability. Next year, for example, the Shell Eco-marathon Americas in Detroit will allow CNG for the first time. Recharge Wrap-up: U of M wins Solar Challenge, family attempts record-breaking e-bike ride

The University of Michigan Solar Car Team has won the 2014 American Solar Challenge. It is the team's eighth national championship, its fifth in a row, and its first using Siemens' product lifecycle management (PLM) software. The race took place over 1,722 miles and seven days traveling across eight states. The team's car, called "Quantum," outpaced the nearest competitor by four hours. Looking forward, Michigan Solar Car Project Manager Pavan Naik says, "The switch to Siemens tools will give us the ability to model and simulate everything and truly allow us to optimize the performance of our new vehicle. As we start on our quest to win the World Solar Challenge in 2015, we'll be leveraging a full complement of PLM solutions." Read more in the press release below. The EcoCar3 competition, in which teams will convert Chevrolet Camaros into hybrid electric cars, begins in September. The various college teams will have four years to lessen the car's environmental impact as much as possible while maintaining performance and, of course, that cool Camaro design. EcoCar3, which is put on by the US Department of Energy and General Motors, kicks off with a workshop in Novi, Michigan from September 16 - 18. Zap already has two lines creating the Urbee EV to met demand, and is switching over a third to make electric minivans and SUVs. The company aims to produce 30,000 EVs by 2015 for the Chinese market. Zap says it has a backlog of 25,000 Urbee orders. Read more in the press release below. A family of four hopes to make a world record-breaking, 6,000-mile electric bike journey this fall. The family, which recently drove from Argentina to Montana in a pickup with a camper, will ride from Montana to Maine, then down the East Coast to Florida in an attempt to break the record for longest electric bicycle ride. They'll use two bikes. The Father, Thomas, will ride one of the bikes carrying one of the children, while the rest of the family rides in a support vehicle, with the mother, Dylan, riding the second bike when they can find others to drive.
