Thanks for looking, please read the description completely and carefully. It should answer most questions.

1988 Chevy Crew Cab 4x4 K/V30 heavy duty 1 ton with a 1st gen. Cummins turbo diesel. I bought the truck with a blown 454 and put in a low mileage drivetrain from a '92 Dodge truck. The Dodge title (which I have) and odometer read 29K. As for the body and chassis, I don't know exactly how many miles it had but would figure about 200k. Since the conversion i have put about 10-15k on it. I drove the truck for several years after putting it together and it ran very well. The truck has been parked for a few  years, during which time the rocker panels and cab corners were replaced. I have painted those areas of the truck but it could use a complete paint job if you want a super nice looking vehicle. The clear coat over the red is rough in some places. It has  a very solid body but does have some dents and dings. There is light surface rust in a few areas on the frame and the body.  Take a look at the pictures and it should give you an idea of the rust. I raised the body 3 inches to clear the engine and installed new body mounts at that time. The floor pans are solid, however the inside portion where the rocker attaches to has rusted through in a couple places. I sand blasted and repainted all the metal behind the rocker panels and cab corners. This truck was originally sold as a cab and chassis setup, bed was added by previous owner.

Ok, now for the engine, this is a rotary injection pump (has been resealed and had larger fuel pin and 3200 rpm gov. spring installed). There are 2 sets of injectors that come with the truck, factory and a set of 100+hp injectors. The turbo is a later model HX 35 which spools quickly. Boost can hit 30 lbs. The Dodge intercooler and radiator where used. The engine runs smoothly and does not seem to use oil. I fabricated the exhaust from 4 inch pipe starting right behind the turbo. I used the factory Dodge crossmembers for the engine and trans, so mounting points are Dodge design. The truck smokes a little at idle with the big injectors but still gets about 18-20 mpg highway at about 65. I believe rpms are about 2000 at 65.

The trans is the Dodge A518 automatic overdrive. Before it was installed in the truck, I rebuilt the trans with performance parts and a special low stall convertor from DTT. This trans does not have lockup. The convertor holds the power very well and the trans shifts and works well.

The transfer case is the Dodge version of the NP205 cast iron case gear drive. The driveshafts were cut and rebalanced and u joints were replaced at the time of swap. The axles are the original Chevy setup with a Dana 60 solid front axle and an open 14 bolt corporate rear. The ratios are matched at 3.73 and run well on the highway. I currently run 285/75/16 tires. Front will need replaced and rear have about 50%. (BFG all terrain T/A)

The A/C was converted to r134a and uses a Dodge compressor made for that refrigerant. Both the A/C & heating systems work well.

The interior is basic with no headliner or surrounding trim. It does have power locks and windows which work on 3 of the doors. Radio is a newer cd player and I put new speakers on the door panels and new 6*9 speakers behind rear seats. From the pictures, you will see a few cracks in the dash and there are some small holes from probably a cb or other controls. The driver seat area is rough but all other areas are good. It has tilt steering and intermitent wipers. The carpet is a charcoal grey and is not the original design. I have recently installed new door gaskets on all 4 doors. The truck can be a little noisy inside since there is no headliner or extra trim. I do have some Dynamat material that goes with the truck, I just never installed it. Also, the guages are Autometer and Sunpro and are set into the factory dash panel. There is a boost guage, trans temp guage and also a egt guage that have the sensors installed, but need to be hooked up. The truck was originally set up with dual fuel tanks and I retained that system.  However, the aftermarket fuel guage calibration is slightly off so it stays on full for quite a while, then drops quickly. (I did run out of fuel a couple times before learning this.)  Truck recently drove about 300 miles with no trouble at all. Email me through ebay if you have any questions.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible is a Swiss hit

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

We've just received an early peek at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible here at the Geneva Motor Show. General Motors was kind enough to let us attend the final dress-rehearsal for its press conference scheduled for tomorrow's opening media day, and we've come away with a good look at the droptop C7 in person.
In the metal, the new Corvette Convertible seems somehow less avant-garde than the Coupe, even in Z51 Performance Package guise. That's not necessarily a bad thing - more of an observation. That initial impression may be because the C7's new greenhouse is one of its most prominent departures from Corvettes past. While we didn't get to see the top erected, there's no rear side window in the stock images that Chevy has already released, suggesting the C7 convertible's profile will look a lot like its C6 predecessor. And with the new power tonneau cover in place, there are also no rear ducts that come as part of the Z51 package (they've been moved under the car).
As with its predecessor, the tonneau is a handsome double-bubble piece, and the body-color "waterfall" element into the cabin between the seats has made it to the new model as well. Thus, the overall look with the top down should be a bit more familiar to prior-gen C6 owners - if you're one of those put off by the C7's new shape, you'll probably appreciate the convertible bodystyle more than the coupe.

GM might lose 90-year U.S. sales crown over chip shortage

Sat, Oct 2 2021

Automotive News editor Nick Bunkley tweeted on October 1 that according to AutoNews data, General Motors "has been the largest seller of vehicles in the U.S. every year since passing Ford in 1931." With automakers having turned in light car and truck sales data for the first three quarters of 2021, GM's 90-year-run might not reach 91. According to AN figures, Toyota was 80,401 vehicles ahead when the October workday started. Worse, GM is so far behind its historic pace that it might only sell enough light vehicles in the U.S. to match its numbers from 1958.  Meanwhile, the New York Times put a few more salient numbers to the pain GM and Toyota are enduring alongside the the rest of the industry. GM sold 33% fewer cars in Q3 2021 than it did in Q3 2019 during the dark days of the pandemic, 446,997 units this year as opposed to 665,192 last year. GM's Q3 2020 was only down 13% on Q3 2019. Over at Toyota, the bottom line showed a 1% gain in Q3 2021 compared to 2020, with 566,005 units moved off dealer lots. The finer numbers show two steps forward and one step back, though; Toyota's September sales were down 22% compared to last year.  GM remains optimistic about what's ahead, GM's president of North American operations telling the NYT, "We look forward to a more stable operating environment through the fall." We'd like to see that happen, but we don't know how it happens. The chip shortage said to have been the inciting incident for the current woes isn't over, and not only can no one agree when it will be over, the automakers, chip producers, and U.S. government still can't get on the same page about who needs what and when. Looking away from that for a second shows articles about "No End In Sight" for supply chain disruptions in early September, before China had to start working through power supply constraints, global supply chain workers started warning of a "system collapse," and roughly 500,000 containers sat waiting to be unloaded at Southern California ports — a record number seemingly broken every week. And back to chips, we're told just a few days ago the chip shortage is "worse than we thought."   For now, the NYT wrote that GM dealer inventory is down 40% from June to roughly 129,000 vehicles, and down 84% from the days when dealers would cumulatively keep about 800,000 light vehicles in stock. However, GM just announced it would have almost all of its U.S. facilities back online next week, although some would run at partial capacity.

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step

Thu, Feb 2 2017

General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet.
