1987 Chevy R30 C/k 3500 Crew Cab Dually on 2040-cars
Sheboygan, Wisconsin, United States
You are looking at 1987 chevy r30 one tone crew cab long box dually. This truck is in exceptional shape for the year. The truck is equiped with the tbi 454, and a turbo 400 transmission. It is a two wheel drive. This thing will tow anything. has tons of power.
The motor and trans in the truck has around 50,000 miles on it. The truck itself has probably around 130,000. Motor has newer plugs and wires, done last year. The motor and trans was rebuilt before i bought the truck. It has a larger cam in it. Otherwise was a stock rebuild. Has newer summit racing headers. The truck is equiped with all the heavy duty towing features, trans cooler, external oil cooler. There is also a dual battery setup in the truck. The headers are running to a 3 inch dual exhaust that runs all the way to the back, with 2 glass pack mufflers. The truck is loud. Sounds great. At idle it is quiet. Some of the parts i replaced are, it has new brake pads all the way around, replaced the center carrier bearing for the driveshaft, also the universals. The truck does have air in it, but some of the parts are missing, so it does not work. The hoses are missing. Also has cruise, but i do not know if it works or not, have never tried it. I only used it for pulling and i dont use cruise when i pull a trailer. The only problem that comes up is that the check engine light comes on after you are on the highway for awhile. I talked with my mechanic and it is only due to the fact that there is some emission things missing and not hooked up, so it turns the light on. After you stop and park the truck, the light goes out. It has done this since i have owned it, and has never been an issue, so i never worried about it. Other than that its a nice truck. Runs at perfect temp, has great oil pressure. Also has almost new tires on rear, they have a very aggressive tread. I put these on due to it being 2 wheel drive. front tires are good, probably about half or a bit over tread. It is equiped with a brake controller, and all functioning trailer wiring. Has aftermarket tail lights, brush guard with driving lights. There is also a custom built headache rack on the back with an extra set of lights which are perfect for backing in the dark. The truck does not have a tailgate, it didnt have one when i bought it, and just never got one. the net on the back works great. They are easy to find though. The body on the truck is very nice. It is flat black primer. I never decided to paint it. I think it looks good flat black, and makes it look mean. There is pretty much no rust on the body. rockers have been replaced, and the rest of the body is good. very solid truck. Floors are real good to. There is a gas door missing on the passenger side. The truck has dual 20 gallon tanks, and the split-er works great. I have replaced the passenger side gas tank and sending unit. Both tanks work good, but the drivers side has a leak somewhere, so i never use it. I was going to replace that tank as well, but never got around to it. It does work though. The heat works very well in the truck. For the interior, this was a conversion truck when it was originally new. It has the big plushy front buckets, and the added wood grain trim etc. The interior is a fair shape for the age of the truck. it is dirty in places. There is a after market cd player with after market speakers in the truck, it powers up, but does not play anything. I have never looked at it to see why. I never really cared. It is probably an easy fix. there is a sunpro tack in the truck, which works great. It has power windows, and power locks. They both work good. has delay wipers as well which work great. I ALSO REPLACED ALL THE DOOR SEALS. The vent windows are not operational, but do not leak. the horn on the steering wheel does not work. I put a air horn in the truck, with a seperate momentary push button. All the lights work great. The th-400 trans works great, has a shift kit it. There is also a lot of add ons on the exterior of the truck, as can be seen from the pics. Over all the truck is in very nice shape. has always pulled whatever i wanted it to. It also has the large dana rear axle, but i cant remember what axle. Not sure on the gear size. About 70-75 on the highway is good. runs around 3500 rpm at that speed. I never pushed it, just because its a big truck, and they really aren't meat to go that fast. I am only selling the truck, because i really dont need it anymore. I am sure there are things that i am forgetting, but please email me with any questions and i will answer them the best i can. I think the price i am looking to get for the truck is fair. Just the motor and trans alone i know i could sell for more than half of what i want for the whole truck. THANKS FOR LOOKING. TRUCK IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY AND NO REFUNDS. THE DEPOSIT IS ALSO A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. IF YOU WISH TO KNOW WHAT THE RESERVE IS SET AT, EMAIL ME AND I CAN LET YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS. |

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers
Fri, 11 Apr 2014
Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
How a Texas Hyundai dealer became the Chevy SSR king
Tue, Apr 21 2015The SSR isn't one of the most appreciated vehicles in Chevy's long history. With a style amalgamating the look of a vintage hotrod, convertible and a pickup, it's really serving a niche market right from the start. However, a Hyundai dealer in Texas has turned selling the cult models into a booming business and has become the de facto king of the quirky truck. According to Automotive News, Paul Peebles runs North Freeway Hyundai in Spring, TX, but he's better known in the Chevy SSR community the premiere seller of the weird model through his used car network. The odd venture started in 2010 when Peebles wanted to boost his pre-owned business and bought several sporty vehicles. Among them were five SSRs, and he threw a cookout for owners to get the word out. Things just ballooned from there. Since then, Peebles' used car dealer has had a hand in 447 SSR transactions, and some of those are the same truck coming back to sell again. With just over 24,000 of them out there, that works about to two percent of the model's production moving through just one business. The dealership also sponsors an SSR owners' forum online. Being a major broker for a niche model also means that Peebles often gets rare examples of the SSR, including some of the Indianapolis 500 pace car versions, according to Automotive News. We even saw a bizarre one last year when the business put this shark-inspired truck on eBay Motors. The whole thing also works out well for Peebles' Hyundai business. Specializing in SSRs brings other performance models in as trade-ins, and they can draw folks to the lot to check out the collection. Then, maybe visitors can take a look at a Sonata, too.
A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes
Wed, Feb 19 2014There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
