1981 Chevy No Reserve 2500 Long Bed 4x4 8 Lug 4" Lift Lifted 3/4 Ton Chevrolet on 2040-cars
Waukegan, Illinois, United States
Auction is No Reserve so Bid to Win!! Here we have a 1981 Chevy 3/4 ton Long bed 4x4 with a 350 4 Barrel, Turbo 400 Transmission, 4:11 gears, Corporate 14 bolt in the rear, 10 bolt in the front, 4"lift and 37" Goodyear Military tires. Known issues: Speedo cable makes noise and bounces a little a low speed, Slight delay when shifting into reverse,(common with older Chevy's) power steering box has a very slow drip, Tires aren't balanced but only bounce a little at around 45mph( I've driven trucks with balanced tires that were worse I was totally surprised how smooth this truck actually drives with absolutely no wheel weights!) and the passenger side header gasket leaks( I have a new gasket under the seat ) Truck looks like the miles are original at only 48k. I can't prove the low miles but, I have inspected the entire drive train and as far as I can tell it's completely original(other than the lift) All the U-joints and steering components are original and look to be working well.( I think the drive train would show more replacement parts if the miles were 148K. Even the rear brake shoes are original!) 4x4 high and low works excellent! truck goes down the road 70 mph with the hubs locked straight and smooth. I have daily driven this truck for almost a year and it's a very nice reliable machine. Floors, Doors, Rockers, Front Fenders, and Bed sides have been replaced. Truck is about 95% solid only the front inner fenders are still rusty. I have only used this truck in summer for projects around my property and as a fun truck to drive to and from work( who cares about gas mileage...nothing soothes the soul better than a 350 v-8 with 4:11 gears at 60 mph sounds beautiful!) All fluids have been changed on this truck. I just recently changed the fluids on the Axels, Transfer case, and Engine, The Transmission fluid was changed last year. Truck is sold as is no warranty I expect payment within 7 days. Please only bid if you plan to Buy. Please watch the video and Please Call Steve if you have any questions 847 302 8169 I only have this truck listed on Ebay it isn't for sale anywhere else. the only way I will end the auction early is if I get a big enough cash offer. Otherwise: Bid to Win! Good Luck!

How a Texas Hyundai dealer became the Chevy SSR king
Tue, Apr 21 2015The SSR isn't one of the most appreciated vehicles in Chevy's long history. With a style amalgamating the look of a vintage hotrod, convertible and a pickup, it's really serving a niche market right from the start. However, a Hyundai dealer in Texas has turned selling the cult models into a booming business and has become the de facto king of the quirky truck. According to Automotive News, Paul Peebles runs North Freeway Hyundai in Spring, TX, but he's better known in the Chevy SSR community the premiere seller of the weird model through his used car network. The odd venture started in 2010 when Peebles wanted to boost his pre-owned business and bought several sporty vehicles. Among them were five SSRs, and he threw a cookout for owners to get the word out. Things just ballooned from there. Since then, Peebles' used car dealer has had a hand in 447 SSR transactions, and some of those are the same truck coming back to sell again. With just over 24,000 of them out there, that works about to two percent of the model's production moving through just one business. The dealership also sponsors an SSR owners' forum online. Being a major broker for a niche model also means that Peebles often gets rare examples of the SSR, including some of the Indianapolis 500 pace car versions, according to Automotive News. We even saw a bizarre one last year when the business put this shark-inspired truck on eBay Motors. The whole thing also works out well for Peebles' Hyundai business. Specializing in SSRs brings other performance models in as trade-ins, and they can draw folks to the lot to check out the collection. Then, maybe visitors can take a look at a Sonata, too.
Question of the Day: What's the most irritating car name?
Wed, Mar 9 2016You hear a lot about how the Chevrolet Nova was a sales flop in Mexico because "No va" means "it doesn't go" in Spanish; in fact, the Nova sold pretty well south of the border, and in any case most Spanish-speakers know that "Nova" means "new" in Latin and Portuguese. However, General Motors doesn't deserve to be let off the hook for bad car names, because the Oldsmobile Achieva— no doubt inspired by the excruciating "coffee achievers" ads of the 1980s— scrapes the biggest fingernails down the screechiest chalkboard in the US-market car-name world. That is, unless you think Daihatsu's incomprehensible choice of Charade was worse. Meanwhile, Japanese car buyers could get machines with cool names like Mazda Bongo Friendee or Honda Life Dunk. It's just not fair! So, what car name drives you the craziest? Related Video: Auto News Design/Style Chevrolet Honda Mazda Daihatsu Automotive History questions car names
GM applies for LT5, LTX trademarks... are new small block variants coming?
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Recently discovered General Motors trademark applications for LT4, LT5, LT88 and LTX have observers wondering what kind of high-performance offerings could be on their way. A new LT4 would mark a return of the engine designation first used on the Corvette Grand Sport, SLP Pontiac Firehawk and SLP Chevrolet Camaro SS from 1996 and 1997. Supposition at Corvette Forum - which provided advance intel on the C7 like these leaked images - believes a new LT4 could go into the high-performance trim of the next-gen, 2015 Camaro that would be more powerful than the 580-horsepower Camaro ZL1.
Seeing an LT5 again would also be déjà vu - in its former life it was a 5.7-liter V8 for the C4 Corvette ZR-1 from 1990-1994 designed by Lotus, producing from 370 hp to 405 hp. A mix of rumor and hope is that the new LT5 will be a supercharged evolution of the 6.2-liter LT1 (pictured) placed in the new C7 Corvette, and that it will go into the C7 version of the ZR1 pumping out something like 700 hp.
The LTX trademark is, as with that last letter, a complete mystery. If the "X" isn't a generic way to denote the whole LT family, it's wondered if it LTX could refer to a crate motor offering like the LSX.
