80 1980 Chevy Silverado Truck Pickup, Restored, 2wd, 454 Big Block Chevy Project on 2040-cars
Dysart, Iowa, United States
For sale is my 1980 Chevy Silverado truck. Its a 1/2 ton 2wd, with a 454 Big Block Chevy, and a TH400 automatic trans. Clear title in hand. Built in winter of 2012-13. New parts were put on then, maybe 250 miles since. Drivetrain: Stock 454 bbc, good used motor, with a new polished aluminum dual plane intake, new 770 holley street avenger carb, HEI, air cleaner, valve covers, plugs, wires, water pump, fuel pump, belts, hoses, starter, battery, cables, and radiator. Also has new headers with 3" exhaust that dumps out behind the cab, sounds great. TH400 stock trans with a new filter, new front and rear u-joints, stock open rear. New gas tank, fuel lines, front brake lines, rotors, calipers, and hoses. New LR wheel cylinder and pads. NEW cooper cobra tires with good used AR aluminum wheels. Runs and drives great, speedo and fuel gauge off some. Interior: New bench seat upholstery from LMC, carpet, and headliner new also. Good used door panels and dash pad, no cracks. Trio gauges and tach. Power windows are slow, but new motors are included. Power locks, air, and cruise cab, but all not working at this time. Need line set for AC, missing some of the cruise components. New door seals, window fuzzys and channels, and windshield gasket. Tilt column, nice GM steering wheel and button. Body: Started with a rust free truck, which was great. Only rust I found later was pass side cab corner, so I replaced it. ALL GM body parts except the NEW cowl induction hood and fender wells. No tinny china doors, fenders and tailgate, nice solid GM stuff. Body and paint is driver quality single stage. New grille and surrounds, headlights, turn signals, marker lights, taillights, 454 emblem on fenders. Box has paint on bedliner, its ok. New dee zee aluminum polished diamond tread caps all the way around the bed. All stock used glass, okay shape. I have a new pair of lowering shackles for the rear if you want to drop it, it sits a little high for my liking, but never got around to putting them in. Overall a really nice driver for someone, or fix up to something nicer! I have over $8000 invested, not including labor, but must sell due to new shop expenses out of control. Sold as is, where is, no refunds. Bid to own it, and have the cash to do so. USA sales only. $500 paypal deposit required within 24hrs of auction end. The balance must be paid in full within 4 days by cash in person, or bank wire transfer. No checks, cashiers checks, money orders, or any other scams, thanks. Please keep in mind you are bidding to own, not come look and decide not to complete the transaction. Come look first if you want or can, I highly recommend it. It is for sale locally, so I may need to end the auction. Thanks for your time everyone! |

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
Is Buick's surprise Detroit concept a Camaro-sized coupe?
Sun, Jan 10 2016Tomorrow night marks the unofficial start of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Keep your eyes peeled for a number of reveals, including a surprise debut from Buick. Yes, Buick. And we think it's going to be something really hot. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Tri-Shield's secret car could be a Camaro-sized sport coupe concept. As Bloomberg explains, it'd certainly gel with the impression the company is trying to put out – that it's no longer a brand for those with one foot in the grave. Introducing a sports coupe, even as a concept, could certainly reinforce that message. And if it happens to make production – which is not a certainty, Bloomberg's secret source says – it could certainly help Buick drive its average buyer age down from 59. Bloomberg doesn't offer any speculation on Buick's new coupe, but we have no problem making educated guesses. Our most reliable conjecture is this: it will ride on General Motors' Alpha platform, which underpins both the Camaro and the Cadillac ATS. And with a certain twin-turbocharged V6 in the GM stable, we've got an idea of what kind of engine could be shown. That speculation will have to suffice for now. But don't worry, we'll have official details, live images, and video tomorrow when Buick unveils its new concept in Detroit's Eastern Market.
