I am listing my plum crazy truck for sale. Color is actually called Hawaiian orchid and it is factory original color for this truck. I am starting this listing off about 1/2 the cost to build or the about the cost of the paint, wheels, tires and interior. Project was finished just over 2 and a half years ago and I have put a good 20k miles on this truck since its completion. the 300hp Vortec 5.3L engine is all stock and yields 18-19mpg in my average day to day driving. Best I have seen so far on the highway is 23mpg and pulls off 21-22 on hwy driving very consistently and that's with the truck running a moderately aggressive 3.73 gear ratio with auburn limited slip unit in the 10 bolt factory rear. The 4L60E was completely rebuilt with every possible upgrade I could find as I was going to build a much stronger motor to go with it but things change and looking to do a completely different project now. AC, Cruise control, gauges ALL work just like the engine would have come in this truck. While the bed, doors and hood were removed for painting, I do not consider the paint to be a show quality level paint. Its smooth and not bad by any means but just not what I consider show quality. The main flaw with the paint is the fiberglass lid in one of the groves that I pictured in the last picture. No dings or chips otherwise in the paint but paint is 2 years old now so not quite as fresh. Pictures were taken very recent for this listing so they aren't 2 year old pictures or anything. I try to be very honest about my listings. Seat is from a newer Chevy truck and recovered in the spirit of the paint and door panels were redone to match and the panel where the switches are were painted to match the body when the truck was painted. You can see on the drivers door where the stupid seat belt wants to get hung in the door has mess up the paint a bit. I have been meaning to have some touch up paint made for the door but as you see that hasn't happened. Also lined the cab with .050 dynamat sound deadener while the carpet was being replaced as well. I mildly lowered the truck 2" coils in the front and 4" shackle hanger drop in the rear with belltech shock relocators in the rear to maintain a factory ride quality with just a set of replacement Monroe shocks. I also had the bed coated with spray in liner and I put a rubber mat on top of that coating on the floor just to keep it nice and allow me to still use the truck as a truck since I didn't build it as a show truck but rather a nice cool daily driver truck. The wheels are 18" Boss 338's 8" in front and 10" in rear with 255/50R18 up front and 295/45R18 in back.
If you like this body style truck and love the new LS engines power and fuel economy, then you will like this truck. I spent a lot of time tuning the computer to get the gas mileage numbers it makes and a lot of time getting everything fully functional so its not just an average drop it in and hope everything works build. A lot of time and effort has gone into this truck so that it runs every bit as well as it looks. While the truck shows 235k on the odometer that is about the only thing original left in the truck. If your located a long way from here, fly in and drive it home. It will easily make the trip.

Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns
Wed, May 4 2016These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
Before Chevrolet's Redline, there was the Saturn Red Line
Thu, Feb 9 2017While Chevy rolls out Redline special editions across more of the lineup at this year's Chicago Auto Show, we've been eating some 'member berries and started thinking about the last time GM used the term. Back in 2004, Saturn rolled out Red Line (two words) editions of the Ion and Vue. The lineup was joined by the Sky Red Line in 2007, and the second-generation Vue kept the tradition going in 2008. This was in the heady days of the mid-2000s, before the financial crisis and GM's bankruptcy reorganization that saw the end of Saturn. The press release headline for the 2008 Sky is now cringe-worthy: "Hot-selling Sky helps drive Saturn product renaissance." Performance lineups were the hot new thing, as automakers attempted to cash in on the tuner trend popularized by The Fast and the Furious. Chevy had SS models, Pontiac had GXP, and Saturn had Red Line. Across the Detroit Metro area, Dodge had a slew of SRT models, and Ford's Special Vehicle Team brought us the SVT Lightning pickup, the SVT Focus, and a smattering of hopped-up Mustangs. The performance cred of Red Line models varied from car to car. The Ion Red Line shared the same engine as the original Chevy Cobalt SS, a 205-horsepower supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 65 hp more than stock. Car and Driver tested one with a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.1 seconds and said the Ion "tears down the wall that has separated enthusiasts from the Saturn brand for so long." The Vue Red Line, meanwhile, came with the same optional Honda-sourced 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the regular Vue, and added a stiffer, lower suspension, bigger wheels with more aggressive rubber, and recalibrated steering assist. When the Vue was redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Vue Red Line was a similar proposition. The engine was now from GM, and up 7 horsepower to 257, but you could get it in both Red Line and XE trim. Aside from the tire and suspension upgrades, Red Line models now came with a unique front fascia and rear exhaust cutouts. The most exciting Red Line, of course, was the high-performance version of the Sky roadster, which shared underpinnings with its Pontiac Solstice twin. This model came with GM's hot 2.0-liter Ecotec Turbo, good for 260 horsepower. The extra power was crucial in covering up the Sky's unfortunate manual gearbox ratios, which left the non-turbo model aching for torque in lower gears. As we all know, Saturn was taken by the grim reaper in 2009 after an attempt to sell the brand to the Penske Group.
Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]
Mon, 27 May 2013If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.
