1968 Chevrolet K10 Short Bed 4x4 on 2040-cars
Grass Valley, California, United States
FACTORY K10 SHORT BED 4X4 Please read this entire add before bidding as I believe the add with the pictures will answer most questions. I will go over the good and the bad and tell you everything I know about this truck. Body: The body on this truck is straight and overall solid with some rust bubbling in the lower doors and the lower fender extensions, some small spots above the drip rails and a small spot on the drivers inside rocker panel. The rust is not horrible or rotted out. The passenger side rocker panel was replaced. The floor boards appear to be solid. The bottom of the doors look nice. The trim, chrome on the truck is nice, front bumper and grill surrounds are nice. Paint: As you can see the truck is black in color and shines nicely. This is driver quality paint, it has some checking in spots along with chips and blemishes that have been brush touched. The paint looks good from 10 feet away and would be fine for a daily driver but in my opinion needs to be redone. Running Gear: The truck has the original running gear as far as I can tell to include the closed knuckle front end with power drum brakes. I do not know what gear ratio it has. The frame has a weld on the passenger side (See Pic), I have no idea why its there, however its a very nice clean weld. The truck has a late model gm power steering box that was fitted to the original frame and reinforced with plate steel. Engine and Transmission: The engine is a 454 BBC with a mild cam, the motor sounds great with a mild lope to it, runs nice with good power. The transmission is a turbo 350 that shifts nicely with no slipping, controlled by an aftermarket floor shifter. I do not know the mileage on either the transmission or the engine. Interior: The interior is in nice shape, however needs a dash pad and the visors could use some attention and it could use a carpet kit. The bench seat is in good shape as well. It has a tach dash cluster that works, cd player. All glass is in very nice condition. Overall: This is a great looking, rare short bed K10 4x4 with a 454 that drives down the road nice. This truck gets Lots of attention, nearly every time I drive it someone asks me about it or complements it. I have listed everything I know about the vehicle, the good with the bad so please take time to look at the pictures and judge for yourself. I encourage anyone serious about the truck to come look at it or have someone look at it prior to bidding. I'm listing this truck for a friend who took it on trade for a Porsche he had and has since decided he wants to go in a different direction. The truck is currently registered in CA and has a clear title in my buddies name. Please contact me with any questions you may have, if I can answer them I will or if you would like to speak the owner I can make arrangements for that to happen. This truck will be sold as is, where is. If shipping is required I will do whatever I can to assist, however the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. There will be a $1000.00 non refundable deposit required via paypal with in 24 hours of the auction ending. If you can not complete this please do not bid. I also have this truck for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early if the truck sells locally. Thanks!! |

GM Recalling 370,000 Trucks For Fire Risk
Mon, Jan 13 2014DETROIT (AP) - General Motors is recalling 370,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups from the 2014 model year to fix software that could cause the exhaust components to overheat and start a fire. The recall includes 303,000 trucks in the U.S. and 67,000 in Canada and Mexico. All of the trucks involved have 4.3-liter or 5.3-liter engines. GM said eight fires have been reported, but no injuries. One garage was damaged, the company said. All of the incidents occurred in cold weather. The company is asking customers not to leave their trucks idling unattended. GM dealers will reprogram the software for free. The company will inform owners starting Jan. 16. The major recall announcement, which came on Saturday, marred the Silverado's winning of the 2014 North American Truck of the Year Award at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday. A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes
Wed, Feb 19 2014There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
