Up for auction is this Stunning '66 C10 Custom SWB. Just finished a complete nut & bolt restoration. Every panel, part, piece, nut, & bolt have been painted, refurbished, or replaced. This is pretty much a Brand New Truck! I love the body lines & style the mid 60's had & this truck does not disappoint.

I wanted to build a classic cruiser that took us back to a simpler time. I think now days we are always in such a hurry & so used to technology making things easier?  I think we need to just slow down & enjoy the beautiful things in life. So I went with a body & style that is rarely seen. Instead of a chromed out motor & a glossy paint ( that's been done for a half century) I wanted a flat outside, glossy inside, & there is not a single piece of chrome on this truck. I almost nicknamed it Anti-Chrome. Even though I kept this project Super Clean & Super Simple, I still did some modern up grades like Power Disc Brakes, Alternator, & Seat Belts!

One thing I had to do was install a complete Independently Adjustable Air Ride Suspension. This thing rides like a Cadillac & drives like a Dream! Also added a wireless remote control so when you pull up some where & get out, you don't have to crawl out of it, because its setting on the ground. Instead you can pull up at normal ride height get out & as your walking away you hit the button & she drops to the ground!

This Beauty is coated with GM's color Flame Red. I could have saved time by painting the whole truck a solid color inside & out, but I'm a perfectionist & not known for taking the easy way out. There is actually 4 different colors on this truck. The inside interior is a Gloss Black with just the right amount of Red accents. Everything except for the sheet metal & few things I wanted to keep original is new. Below I will try & list most of everything I can think of that's been done.

Brand new suspension. New Ball Joints, Tie Rods, Pitman Arm, Idler Arm, Spindles, Shocks, Even the steering Rag Joint.

Complete Air Ride Suspension. 8, 1/2 Quick Air Valves, Twin Air Compressors, Cab Mounted Pressure Gauge, 5 Gallon Air Tank, 4, 2500lbs Bags & a Dual 7 Switch Controller with a Wireless Remote.

Power Disc Brake Conversion. New Rotors, Calipers, Pads, Drums, Lines, Shoes, Master Cylinder, Brake Booster, Fluid, & Bearings.

Engine is a Newer Vortec 5.7L V8 with a Performance Camshaft, New Gasket set, Belts, Hoses, Clamps, Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, Rebuilt Edlebrock Carb, Alternator, & Serviced With Mobil One Full Synthetic Motor Oil.

Transmission is a GM TH350, B&M Shifter, New Module, Output Shaft Seal, Gasket, & Filter.

Putting all this power down to the pavement is a Heavy Duty GM 12 Bolt Rear End with a 4:11 Gear Ratio. For Shoes it has 4 Brand New 265/75r15 Tires.

Cooling is a Harrison Radiator & Thermostatically Controlled Electric Fan.

Interior Has New Seat Belts, Some New Gauges, Mostly New Wiring, New Blower Motor, Some New Switches, New Loop Style Molded Carpet, New Windshield, Tinted Windows, & Completely New Weatherstripping Throughout. Including the Vent Window's Weatherstripping.

The Rear Frame was Boxed & Bridged with over the Axle Air Ride So that if anyone wanted to pull something, the truck could handle the weight. I did not want to put a bed floor in & cover this work of art permanently, So Instead I used a Black Max Vinyl Bed cover that really gives the truck a nice touch.

There has been tons & tons of hours of body work in this Beauty. This was a 50 year old work truck that didn't have such an easy life, but as far as I know it has been a Southern truck its whole life & was practically rust free! There is still some minor imperfections, but I cant stand a Ridiculously Over Priced Trailer Queen! This is a truck built to be Driven, Enjoyed, & most importantly Affordable!

I have receipts for everything done to this beauty. Also have pics from start to finish.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
