SELLER REMARKS |
|
Things of quality have no fear of time, and this 1972 Chevrolet C10 pickup is a fine example. Powerful, handsome, and ready to work and play, it's proof that the market for clean classic pickups remains strong.
Finished in bright Hugger Orange (always a favorite on any Chevrolet), this C10 offers a traditional muscle car color combination that looks awesome anywhere it goes. This is the kind of color that will never go out of style on the right cars; you can't paint a modern pickup Hugger Orange, but on this square-jawed 1972 C10 it works exceedingly well. Bodywork is excellent, and it's obvious that this truck did not need any major surgery prior to paint, especially hailing from the warm, dry southern US. It also appears that this truck never worked for a living, with a bed that's in incredible condition with no abuse evident and dressed up with a set of chrome bed rails. There's plenty of trim to make it sparkle, from the squared-off grille to the chrome bumpers and that woodgrained and stainless trim that runs the length of the body, giving it a sporty demeanor. And despite a few signs of use, this truck shines like a beacon in our showroom with its vivid color and sharp presentation.
Black vinyl upholstery gives the interior an upscale, almost formal look, and the thoroughness of the restoration is evident in the painted dash, which matches the bodywork. The bench seat is firm and comfortable for three, and matching black carpets offer a little more plushness than the usual rubber mats. The dash has all the original gauges intact, including a rare factory tach mounted just ahead of the steering column, and despite a little fading, these are still some of the best-looking dials ever put into a truck. That steering wheel is something Camaro and Corvette owners will recognize, and it looks right at home here. An upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo replaces the vintage AM piece and factory A/C is a very welcome upgrade and it blows cold. This is the kind of truck where you can slide inside and feel instantly at home.
The 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood is a crate motor that was dropped in about two years and ten thousand miles ago, so it's still quite fresh. It's a potent, torquey mill that moves the pickup with the authority of a muscle car and as a small block Chevy, it looks right in the vintage pickup. Nestled into a very clean engine bay, it looks extremely crisp with black valve covers and a matching open-element air cleaner. For some extra power, it has been fortified with an aluminum intake, ceramic-coated long-tube headers dumping into dual glasspack-style mufflers, and an upgraded ignition system. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt when the new engine was installed a few years ago, and it feeds a rugged 12-bolt rear end with a chrome cover. There's nothing hiding on the lightly undercoated chassis, which shows signs of clean living with most of its original components intact, including the unique coil-spring rear suspension that rides remarkably well. Fat Rally wheels look awesome and are fitted with 225/70/15 Firestone radials that stuff the wheel wells properly.
Don't miss your chance to be a part of the next big thing, these Chevys are hot! Call today.

We knew the 2016 Chevrolet Volt's new powertrain would provide more range, but we didn't know how much. According to GM's Executive Director Larry Nitz, it is about 12 percent more, overall. "I can't think of a powertrain we've re-engineered more extensively within a five-year period than this one," he said. The battery, electric drive system and gasoline generator have all been reworked to allow for an overall driving range of up to 425 miles, with electric range speculated to reach 42 miles or more. The new Volt will also benefit from 20 percent quicker low-end acceleration, weight reductions and improvements in NVH. Read more at Hybrid Cars and at the SAE website. Hyundai's FCEV research and development boss, Dr. Sae-Hoon Kim, is optimistic about the future of hydrogen mobility in Japan. With the Tucson Fuel Cell already in production ahead of Toyota's FCV, Hyundai has a foothold in the hydrogen car scene. Kim believes that since the Fukushima disaster, Japan's attitudes toward energy make it friendly to a growing hydrogen economy. He also says that hydrogen won't be limited to Hyundai, with Kia getting all the battery EVs. "Both types are for both companies," Kim says. "For the moment, volumes are small and it is not wise to have Hyundai and Kia competing." Read more at Just Auto. The Latvian/German startup Inabikari is using crowdfunding to build an electric crossover for Europe. The Rev.01 EV hopes to compete with Tesla's upcoming Model X with a range of over 400 miles and a five-second 0-60 time. The group currently is trying to raise initial funds through an Indiegogo campaign, with hopes of more investment in the future and sales beginning in 2017. See the video below, and read more at Hybrid Cars and at the Inabikari website. Fuel economy and emissions regulations could lead to some interesting design changes to automobiles. The World Light Duty Test Procedure, set to replace the New European Driving Cycle in 2017, will push automakers to find new ways to reduce drag on their vehicles. For better aerodynamics, we could see traditional side-view mirrors replaced by cameras that display what they see on screens inside the vehicle. Another likely change will be the introduction of smaller, narrower wheels. Improving the average drag coefficient from 0.32 to 0.20 could reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 20 percent. It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

The top of JD Power's 2015 APEAL Study has not changed much in the last year. Porsche remains No. 1 with Jaguar nipping at its heels, although both premium brands saw their overall score fall compared to 2014. For those that need a refresher, the APEAL Study looks at how "gratifying" a vehicle is to own and drive, rating cars and brands on a 1,000-point scale. The industry average for 2015 has increased from 794 to 798, while the total number of automakers that finished above the curve increased from 16 to 20. While Porsche and Jaguar finished at the top, their scores dropped eight and seven points, respectively, to 874 and 855. The top "non-premium" brand was Mini, which scored an impressive 825, up from 795. If the BMW-owned British marque is still a bit too premium for your tastes, last year's non-premium winner, Hyundai, did climb five points and is this year's runner up. At the opposite end of the scale, Smart sits at the very bottom of the rankings, with a score of 683 (it didn't appear on the 2014 rankings). Fiat also dropped, from fourth worst in 2014 to second worst in 2015, despite the 500 being named most appealing city car. Subaru made an impressive climb, from third worst to seventh, falling just 10 points shy of the industry average and two points south of the non-premium average. In the individual vehicle segments, eight brands earned multiple awards, with Ford, Chevrolet, and Porsche earning three apiece. Surprise segment victories included the new Ford Expedition, which beat out Chevy's popular Suburban. The Infiniti QX80 bested the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and Range Rover for best large luxury SUV, and the Dodge Challenger beat its muscle car rivals from Ford and Chevy. Most of the victories, though, were quite predictable. The Mazda6 and CX-5 took wins for the midsize sedan and compact SUV categories respectively, while the Volkswagen Golf captured the compact car win. The Ford F-150 won the large pickup category, while the Porsche Cayman was named most appealing compact premium sporty car.
