Here is a rare truck - (as in 1 of 1) with a Crate Chevy 350 and an Automatic Trans - Drive train is just a few years old and with very low miles (estimating less than 5500) - engine runs/drives GREAT! Starts immediately. Currently running on the 'Street-legal' Firestone stock-look tires with 16" 8-lug Wheels and Stainless Rings. Also, this truck INCLUDES a complete set 49" IROK's Tires in Chrome rims (seen in some of the pics). It has a nice stereo, and very nice interior overall including custom CHROME door panels, ashtray, and glove box. Solid truck overall and runs very well. I just completed having the front drive shaft installed and the sterring adjust to be more uniform. Technically, very large tires generally makes any truck frame too 'high' to be officially 'street legal' and CHP approved. When I bought the truck some years ago, CHP inspected it and approved it (with the smaller tires), then also applied a copy of the frame VIN onto what is called a 'blue tag' installed within the door jam. The Truck is being sold 'as-is' and without any warranty nor guarantee whasoever.
HERE IS WHAT IT NEEDS:
1. It's not really critical or even visible, but it needs a "bed floor" - much of the old one is removed already. Maybe something more innovative than wood? (see pics)
2. The passenger side of the windshied has a few "wiper-marks". I have a complete set of windshield 'stainless' trim to apply upon a future windshield replacement - no rush.
3. It could certainly use a fresh "paint-job" to become the ultimate 'TRUCK'. There are some minor areas of corrosion to address also - but not that un-typical for it's year and age (see images).
4. It has mostly original guages and interior controls (ie: gas guage, odomoter, speed, heater, etc.) - which could stand to be updated or improved. It does have new temp and volts guages.
REASON FOR SELLING:
I am mainly selling (or trading) it in order to get a stock-like Jeep Wrangler for my wife, or please let me know if you have a trade offer.
Please contact me if you want to come see it in person near Santa Paula, CA - Thanks, James 805-479-5000.

GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'
Mon, Mar 17 2014As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
Next-gen Chevy Volt will get 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine
Tue, Oct 28 2014As General Motors gets ready to unveil the new Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January, it's starting to reveal a few more details about the updated plug-in hybrid. Today should be fruitful on that front, thanks to an event GM is hosting today that focuses on the new Volt, and we've just had the first bit of new: a bigger engine is coming. Since the beginning, the Volt has used a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine as a range extender when the battery runs dry. The second-generation model will instead get a slightly larger 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be built in Flint, MI. That's a step up from the various engines that have been a part of the 2016 Volt's rumored mills, everything from a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter three-cylinder to a 2.0-liter turbo. The confirmation about the new 1.5-liter powerplant was found in Automotive News, where we also heard again that GM is going to start building the new Volt's electric drive unit in Detroit, moving production up from Mexico. We will have more information on the 2016 Chevy Volt later today.
