Regretfully, I am selling my 1973 Chevrolet Cheyenne C-10 Stepside pick up.

I bought this truck from the estate of the original owner after he passed away.  It was his "baby" for over 40 years and always garage kept. I intended to use it as an all-around truck, but after driving it for about 100 miles, I decided this SUPER original stepside deserved something better.  This really is the perfect starting point for a show truck or street rod.

Everything on this truck screams original.  The bed has all its original wood planks, and I was told it is the original paint covering them.  The original owner had the dealership install a genuine Leer, all aluminum, bed cap the day he bought it (which I am told is an extremely rare and valuable retro / nostalgia item for collectors in this condition).  This cap stayed on the truck for the entire 41 years of its life, along with a protective carpet covering the bed, which preserved the wood in remarkable condition.

The entire truck was protected with ZIEBART from day one.  From what I can tell, the truck is extremely solid with very little rust. The body is very straight and has no big dings or dents  Most of the paint appears to be original, with some touch up work done.  The paint looks decent, but it definitely isn't show quality.  Don't get me wrong, it still turns a lot of heads, it just isn't perfect.  The chrome is fantastic all around the truck.  The original grill is in perfect shape with no cracks.

The interior is very original and still retains its original carpet which is in fantastic condition.  The dash is gorgeous with no cracks.  The gauges look like new.  The seat has a couple of small splits, but the foam is all in tact, and the small splits can easily be repaired.  I was actually surprised by the condition of the seats when I lifted the cover.

The 350 V8 engine runs very good but has not been tuned up in who knows how long.  The transmission shifts very smoothly, and the front suspension is extremely tight.  When I bought this truck, I drove it home for nearly three straight hours and had no problems.  I was actually extremely surprised with how tight the steering felt for a truck of this age.  Very few rattles, noises, etc.

I cannot verify this, but I was told even the spare tire is the factory original.

This truck is certainly not perfect, but it is in amazing condition for its age.  Trucks this original are extremely rare, and this one will make a fantastic restoration or simply drive it as it is.

I encourage anyone interested in the truck to come see it in person and inspect it before the auction ends.  After that, high bidder owns it.

The best Super Bowl car commercials from the last 5 years

Wed, Jan 28 2015

If you've been dipping into the Autoblog feed over the past days and weeks, you wouldn't even have to be a sports fan to know the Super Bowl is coming up. Automakers have been teasing their spots for the big game, dropping them days early, fully-formed onto the Internet and otherwise trying to amp up the multi-million-dollar outlays that they've made for air time on the biggest advertising day of the year. And, we're into it. The lead up to the Super Bowl is almost akin to a mini auto show around these parts; with automakers being amongst the most prolific advertisers on these special Sundays. The crop of ads from 2015 looks as strong as ever, but we thought we'd take a quick look back at some of our favorite spots from the last five years. Take a look at our picks – created from a very informal polling of Autoblog editors and presented in no particular order – and then tell us about your recent faves, in Comments. Chrysler, Imported From Detroit Chrysler, Eminem and a lingering pan shot of "The Fist" – it doesn't get much more Motown than 2011's Imported From Detroit. With the weight of our staffers hailing from in and around The D, it's no wonder that our memories still favor this epic Super Bowl commercial (even though the car it was shilling was crap). Imported really set the tone for later Chrysler ads, too, repeated the formula: celebrity endorsement + dramatic copy + dash of jingoism = pulled car-guy heartstrings. Mercedes-Benz, Soul teaser with Kate Upton One of our favorite Super Bowl commercials (and yours, based on the insane number of views you logged) didn't even technically air during the game. Mercedes-Benz teased its eventual spot Soul with 90-seconds worth of Kate Upton threatening to do her best Joy Harmon impression. (Teaser indeed.) It doesn't win points for cleverness, use of music, acting, or any compelling carness, but it proved that Mercedes' advertisers knew how to make a splash in the Internet Age. And, hey, it's still classier than every GoDaddy commercial. Kia, A Dream Car. For Real Life Like the Mercedes video above, the initial draw here is a pretty lady; in this case the always stunning Adriana Lima. But this Kia commercial really delivers the extra effort we expect while scarfing crabby snacks and homemades, too. First of all, Motley Crue. Second, a cowboy on a bucking rhino. Enjoy yet again.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

Weekly Recap: Volvo buys Polestar, makes performance a priority

Sat, Jul 18 2015

Volvo is taking its performance business in-house, and the Swedish carmaker announced Tuesday that it bought tuning company Polestar, which has long been known for producing sporty Volvos. The move allows Volvo to ramp up its performance business, and it plans to increase Polestar-branded vehicle sales to 1,000 to 1,500 annually, up from the 750 total projected for this year. The companies have been working together on motorsports projects since 1996. Financial terms of the sale were not released, and Polestar workers will move over to Volvo. Former Polestar owner Christian Dahl will keep control of the Polestar racing team and operate it under a new name. In addition to sales volume, Volvo has ambitious plans for other parts of Polestar, including its aftermarket business. Volvo also said it will use its twin-engine hybrid technology for Polestar models in the future, though specifics and timing were not revealed. Meanwhile, Volvo announced it will offer a run of 265 total Polestars in the United States for the 2016 model year, with S60 and V60s available. "Driving a Volvo Polestar is a special experience. We have decided to bring this experience to more Volvo drivers, placing the full resources of Volvo behind the development of Polestar as the model name for our high performance cars," Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, get nose jobs Automakers tend to refer to light updates as 'facelifts,' and that's exactly what Chevy gave the 2016 Silverado and GMC Sierra. Chevy slightly changed the front end of the truck. Using the one photo released of the new Z71 model as a guide, we can see that the headlights went from a stacked vertical design to single bulbs, and they are set on top of LED running lights. The grille has more body-colored elements instead of shiny metal, and the hood has a new line running down the middle (look really closely). The design theme will be similar across the portfolio, though materials and details will vary, a spokesman said. Some models, like the High Country and LTZ will have more chrome, and the LEDs are only for the upper trims. Chevy also said it will use the eight-speed automatic transmission on more versions of the Silverado, and it updated the MyLink feature to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
