FACTORY,  MATCHING NUMBERS, BIG BLOCK, SHORT BED!!!!!!!!!

This is a rare 1972 Chevrolet short bed pick up that was special ordered by a family on a farm in Little Rock Arkansas where I originally purchased it back on  2/24/97. Due to financial difficulties I was forced to sell it on 5/24/97 & when the buyer lost interest in restoring it, I bought it back on 8/16/06. Yet there is no rust on this truck now, (with the exception of the RF fender, which I have new) The poor old girl is still not completed.

After years of research & work was performed on the truck by the previous owner & myself, the engine was rebuilt by the previous owner & I learned of the rare options this truck was ordered with. A special promotional package called "The Highlander" with deluxe trim, two tone paint & upgraded interior options along with comfort tilt steering wheel, air conditioning & TH400 Automatic transmission. 12 bolt 373 posi traction rear. Rare factory gauges including a tachometer. $800 was spent on the seat alone when it was reupholstered with the incorrect hounds tooth pattern, though it looks cool. (it should have been black/white plaid)

I have thousands of dollars of receipts & a ton of new, NOS & reproduction parts that go with the truck.

 I highlighted some of the new items below
.

* 30 over matching #s 400 Big Block totally rebuilt with all new engine components (have receipts) & #s matching TH400
* New HEI summit racing distributor
* New Q Jet carb
* New heavy duty front sway bar kit
* New Magna flow, custom welded stainless steel dual exhaust (installed)
* New (repro) Passenger fender
* New GM Rocker panels (installed)
* New cab corners (installed)
* New Hounds Tooth seat covering (installed)
* New carpeting with sill plates
* New gas gauge sending unit
* New GM body side body side moldings (for entire truck) can't even buy GM anymore!
* Deluxe Tailgate chrome insert with letters
* New Wood grain door panel inserts
* New Gauge bezel (installed)
* Used class III hitch
* New front grille surround (aluminum)
* New front bumper (new in 1997)
* New outside door handles
* New Glove box cardboard
* New Air conditioning duct work
* New dash pad (installed)
* Tires have less than 1,000 miles
* 15X8 truck rally's
* Re-cored 3 core radiator (should be 4)
* New bed bolts
* New front end fastener kit
* New headlight bezels
* Numerous boxes of misc new & used parts also

Obviously the air conditioning is not hooked up under the hood, though I do have a number of the brackets & original components that go with the truck, but there are many vendors that have the components available now reproduction.
Though the body work on this truck is not complete, all of the hard work is done. (welding) There is still  minor body work that has to be done in order to be painted.
Please be advised......Recently the truck began to "knock" a little, I do not know if it is a lifter or bearing, the previous owner rebuilt the engine so I can not verify what his work, I do not think it is serious though.

I may be able to assist the successful buyer with delivery for a separate fee since I do own a trailer, depending where he/she is located.
Please ask me about this option prior to bidding.

Please check out my other unfinished project auction,
I also will be selling a solid 1967 Chevelle Convertible project car with a lot of NOS parts included

I check my email daily, please ask questions if you are interested becoming the new owner of my old friend.

Serious buyers only please!!!!

Serious buyers may contact me for additional pictures & a YOUTUBE video to hear it run.

Thanks for looking & HAVE A NICE DAY!!

Europeans ask Chevy to bring Volt back to Europe

Fri, Aug 14 2015

A group of French fans is asking for a jolt of support from General Motors to get the 2016 Chevrolet Volt across the pond. The Association Amperistes et Amis des Vehicules Rechargeables is running a Change.org petition that currently has 383 signatures out of a goal of 500. While the attempt is admirable, it's probably going to take a lot more than several hundred people for the model to make a return to the continent after the poor showing of the Opel Ampera – first-gen Volt's European cousin. The group's major argument for bringing a version of the second-gen Volt to Europe is that consumers need "an intermediate choice between expensive or range-limited pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids with a miserable electric range." Furthermore, such a vehicle would prod the competition to produce similarly efficient electrified models. They also lavish praise on the abilities of the Ampera for its long EV driving range. The supporters aren't entirely kind to GM in the petition, though, and claim the company excluded the original car from marketing efforts there. The Ampera actually enjoyed a strong European launch with more orders than initially expected and briefly topped the best-sellers list among EVs there. It was even named 2012 European Car of the Year. Those halcyon days didn't last long, and by 2014 sales fell off to a trickle. The waning reception caused GM's decision not to introduce a version of the new 2016 Volt there or in Australia. Related Video:

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.

Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
