It has a carburetor, not fuel injection. The windows are manual as are the door locks. It is just an old truck."

This is a 1972 Chevrolet C10 truck. It is a Custom 10 series. The truck would be a great shop truck, drive while you restore or just a cool old everyday driver. The truck is still in the name of the buyer from back in March of 72. Yes, that would make it a one owner. The odometer shows 04,203. We are, by no means, trying to pass this truck off as only having 4,000 original miles. Common sense would make it 104,000 miles.

The truck has a good running small block, we assume it is a 350, with factory cast iron exhaust manifolds. It has a cast iron intake manifold as well but has had a Holley 600 carburetor installed. Carb works great on the stock small block, really responsive. It has also been upgraded to a later model HEI distributor so there are no issues with points and condenser. Has a new fuel pump and power steering pump. The fan shroud is busted, but most of them this old are. A new one is readily available through several aftermarket suppliers. The truck runs down the road like it should, shifts out , rides and drives like all these old trucks do.

A few issues, nothing major, to cover before we go on. The heater core leaks, again, available at any local parts store. There is no radio but it has not been cut out for an aftermarket cd player. The dome light works, is missing the lens. Seat cover is torn, but is still on the seat. That is the small odds and ends.

Now for the bigger things. It does not have a tailgate. The hinges are there, just not a tailgate. It has typical rust on the cab corners and rocker panels. There is a strip of rust through on the bed floor. The grill is bent up. The hood has a wad of body filler. The fenders have bumps and bruises, as do the bedsides. It has been used as a truck during its life and it does show wear and tear, but it is still all there and has not been cobbled up.

The good news. The doors open and close freely. It has the good outside mirrors, they look to be original. The doors do NOT have those awful speaker holes cut into them. The lights and wipers work. The sunvisos are still there. There is NO rust above the windshield where the visors attatch. I know you saw the cool era correct wooden steering wheel and the owner,, ?,, fabbed wooden arm rests.

The truck has a new, yes new, set of 10 inch wide white spokes with BF Goodrich tires. The brakes stop the truck like they should. It steers effortlessly like these trucks do. It is just a cool old truck.

Does it have some wear and tear,, yes. Is it a neat old truck that you could drive as is, drive while you restore or make a personalized shop truck, oh yeah. The cool thing about these old trucks is, everybody has parts for them. Tell you what, do the buy it now and I will include another hood (in much better shape, just not the one that came with this truck) and a good driver quality grill (again, in much better shape, just not the one that came with this truck). Thanks and good luck.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

Recharge Wrap-up: Free chargers for Canadian ELR buyers, Renovo gets funding for EV supercar

Thu, Sep 18 2014

Chevrolet offers versions of its Express passenger van with B20 biodiesel and E85 capability. Customers can buy the van with the Duramax turbodiesel V8, which is compatible with the 20-percent biodiesel blend. There is also a FlexFuel V8, which can use the 85-percent ethanol gasoline blend. It's a great option for shuttling the whole soccer team to practice using renewable fuels. Read more at Domestic Fuels. Early buyers of the Cadillac ELR in Canada will get a 240-volt charger installed at their home for free. It should help convince some buyers to adopt the range extended luxury EV. Cadillac's Chief Marketing Officer Uwe Ellinghaus says, "Professional installation of the fastest home-charging unit is a natural way to mark the introduction of ELR to the luxury market." Read more in the press release below. Renovo has received venture capital funding from California-based True Ventures to build its Coupe electric supercar. The impressive EV, with its 500 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque, is an inspiring vehicle built by a promising company, according to its financial backers. Toni Schneider of True Ventures says that Renovo has "created incredibly advanced technology and a beautiful machine that is well positioned to disrupt the automotive market." Read more in the press release below. Renault says it will build its Fluence ZE electric car in China for an unnamed brand, pending government approval. Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn announced the plan at a test drive event in France on Monday. Renault has a partnership with Dongfeng Motors to build and sell its cars in China. Read more at Reuters. Germany has lifted its ban on Uber. While the German court believes the ride-hailing service is operating illegally without proper licensing for drivers, it says Taxi Deutschland waited too long to file the case against Uber. The taxi association plans to appeal the decision soon. See more in the video below, and read more at The New York Times. A new report from UC Davis claims that a global expansion of public transit could save 1,700 megatons of carbon dioxide yearly and over $100 trillion by 2050. A "high-shift scenario" would be necessary, wherein governments invest in rail and clean buses, expand biking and walking infrastructure and shift focus away from projects that encourage car use. This shift to public transit would especially be important in the US, China and India. Read more in the press release below.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
