1970 Chevy C10 Duramax Diesel Shortbox Pickup on 2040-cars
Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States
This auction is for a 1970 Chevrolet C10 Custom 10 that really is true to its name "custom". I worked really hard to build this truck to appear as it came but with a big surprise under the hood. The drive train is still in its stock form as it came from a 6,700 lb 2006 2500HD except for the deleted egr, egr cooler, intake heater, and catalytic converter. It has only 105,000 miles and has never been modified or abused. But now at only 4,200 lbs the Duramax LBZ's factory 360 hp and 650 lb-ft make this thing a blast to drive. A simple tune and a few easy upgrades would make it really wild. Or just cruise the highway in the Allison's sixth gear and get better fuel economy than most cars. This truck gets great attention and compliments everywhere it goes before anyone even realizes it isn't just another carbureted 350. The sound alone causes double takes and confusion at every stop. The Duramax badges fit and match so perfectly I have to point them out for people to notice when the ask what's under the hood. I have a mountain of receipts from all the new parts like the new inner fenders, new power steering gearbox, the relocated under bed aluminum fuel cell, new radiator, new custom front mount intercooler, custom driveshaft, trans-dapt polyurethane engine mounts, energy suspension body mounts, dual electric cooling fans, new auxiliary transmission cooler, the firewall and floor has been covered with heat and sound deadener before it was carpeted, just to list most of the recent bigger stuff. The original 12 bolt rear end was only upgraded with a larger, stronger 1350 flange and is otherwise stock. This is a really cool truck but I want the buyer to understand it has not been fully restored. The paint looks really nice from about 6 feet away, but not as nice up close. There are quite a few small chips here and there. The frame and cross members had to be modified to make this work but has been reinforced. It has had the cab corners, rockers, and all 4 floor supports replaced, and some other patchwork underneath the floor all before it was painted last time, it will still need a new bed floor for the body to be rust free and ready for a higher quality paint job. At this time is does not have heat, defrost, or air conditioning. The bench seat has a cover because it has cracks in the driver side vinyl. I did not install a stereo because I didn't want to permanently cut the original dash holes not knowing what the next owner would want. It does still have a speaker in the center of the dash. Otherwise it is perfectly fine the way it is. A person could spend a fortune trying to make something this old cosmetically perfect just to make it nerve racking to want to drive anywhere and, heaven forbid, leave it alone in a parking lot. So I like it the way it is and I think anyone else will too. The only things I would add is a nice set of gauges and some sportier tires but you can personalize it any way you want. I can deliver the truck if needed to anywhere in the continental U.S.A. as well.

Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.
2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD fires up its new diesel motor
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Ever since General Motors confirmed plans to produce a diesel-powered Cruze back in 2011, we've been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And as part of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet has pulled back the cover on its oil-burning compact sedan, set to go on sale in the near future with a starting price of $25,695, not including $810 for destination.
The heart and soul of the Cruze TD (that's its official name) is a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine also has an overboost function that will increase torque to 280 lb-ft for up to ten seconds. The full brace of official specs haven't been released, but GM tells us that highway fuel economy will come in at 42 miles per gallon. If that number sounds familiar, it's because the Volkswagen Jetta TDI has the exact same rating. Unlike the Jetta, however, the Cruze TD can run on B20 biodiesel, where as the Volkswagen can only accept B5.
Model-specific changes to this 2014 Cruze TD include an aero kit and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there's a full leather interior, and Chevrolet will provide two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, not to mention a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
