Purchased the truck on Ebay in June 2007 near Las Vegas, Nevada.  The seller claimed his grandfather bought the truck new in Vegas. Flew out, replaced the radiator, hoses, belts, changed the oil and headed east. The truck ran like a dream until a tire delaminated in Missouri, eating the passenger inner fender.

Upon return home, replaced the inner fender, repaired the windshield track, replaced a rocker and had the truck painted on the lower white area.  I had intended to rebuild the engine and trans but this truck ran and runs so well, I couldn't see the point.  Engine is real strong, doesn't smoke or use a significant amount of oil. I have purposely left the engine compartment unrestored to demonstrate to a future buyer that this truck is original and unmolested.   The seller claimed the original engine had been rebuilt and the trans replaced with a rebuilt unit sometime in the last decade.

The only modifications from stock are the addition of headers (I still have the manifolds), a stainless Magnaflow exhaust, door speakers (the holes were already cut) and a modern I-pod ready stereo made to look original.  Everything in the interior is all new.

I have used this truck as a daily summertime driver and have stored it in a heated garage.  Every year I picked something to improve and did it.  This is a super clean original, unmolested truck.  I would head for the west coast tomorrow in this truck without fear.  I hate to sell it but time to free up space for other toys.  I suspect I will wake up 5 years from now and regret selling this truck.

The paint is 75%.  The hood is very slightly faded (I assume from the desert sun) but I'm sure it would buff out with a power buffer (I don't own one).  Other than one rocker (replaced) the only rust was on the kick panels in the cab.  This has been recently repaired and the cab floor painted.  All the trim has been replaced, windshield is new, shocks new, body mounts new.  The tires are 90%.

Truck is equipped with:  Power steering, Manual brakes (work well and stops straight), A/C (doesn't blow cold but it's all there) and a built in tool box.  I couldn't find replacement locking mechanism for the toolbox, so I fabricated an arrangement that looks original from the outside.   The bed is unrestored because I still occasionally use this truck as a truck.  The bed is dinged and chipped some but there are no rust holes of any sort.

Comes with all of the original stuff I've replaced and a set of chrome wheels with "moon" hubcaps that came on the truck.

Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1

Wed, Aug 20 2014

Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. Car Club USA: Louisiana Mudfest

Tue, Jun 16 2015

There's nothing quite like mudding. Big tires, huge power, and crazy-wild gearheads that like to throw down on a mud pit almost as much as a thirty rack of Coors. In the latest, and some might argue greatest yet episode of Car Club USA, we head to Louisiana to throw some dirt at Mudfest. As Louisiana's one and only Mouth of the South puts it, "If you don't mud ride... go to Texas I guess." Joining The Mouth and friendly rivals The Most Hated Mud Sluts, we dive in. Beyond the obvious V8 blasting and tractor-tire spinning, those who know best describe Mudfest as, "Good cooking, good friends, good fun, and a lot of partying." It's a motorsport spectacle unlike any you're likely to find up North or out West, though no less impressive to behold. Follow along with the fun, the impromptu drag racing, the trash talking, and the mechanical madness. And find out why, at Mudfest, "if we don't tear it up, we ain't done it right." Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures. From Main Street cruises to off-road trails, catch all the latest car club activity on Autoblog. Chevrolet Ford Jeep RAM Truck Off-Road Vehicles Car Club USA Videos autoblog black

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
